hi guys,

i would like to ask that will it be just using 3G network will drains more battery consumption than just using GSM network? What about dual mode? thanks tongue.gif
*
yeah of course on 3G network the battery will drain faster.dual mode means it auto switches between 3G and GSM.so when there's 3G coverage it'll be on 3G mode and vice versa.

smile.gif i m now using FExplorer to kill open processes that is not needed, i managed to increase the amount of ram to 15 mb, the old level, but now it has dropped back to 11mb, but it is worth a try thumbup.gif using the nokia browser uses 9mb of ram i think( around that amount laa), if attempt to open another window when the ram is under 8mb, sure out of memory pop up laugh.gif

@j88j
u can try the online method or through nokia centre, now n80 firmware is internet edition d. smile.gif
*
now mine is around 12-14mb of free ram.out of 45mb.wonder where all the 30mb of ram went to doh.gif

oh okay..hmm.now that you've mentioned it,this could be the cause of my phone's laggyness too laugh.gif besides the memory card lah.

While we on this topic, would like to share with you about the lag and card speed issue.

I experience lag in symbian all the time, after u load up tons of application. It's because the os require to read certain information about each application b4 u enter any menu. Usually the first time enter menu after your reboot. I think this is to safely distinquish each memory card plugged in. (imagine some user use more than one card).

Of cause a good and fast memory card will help, but i always wondering how fast should I get before i hit the bottleneck of the phone read/write speed on the card. I try to search information about the phone memory card reading speed, but nothing useful.

I did a test on my DNA mini SD. I did both test on phone (mass storage) and seperate card reader. If anyone of u willing to share, please provide your card r/w speed also. To see how fast can N80 handle.

DNA MiniSD.

hmm nice work there..but can you use Sisoftware Sandra?cuz i dont really understand the charts laugh.gif

when using the Sisoftware Sandra with my Adata 2GB miniSD with card reader i got 7578kb/s[50x] read and 1263kb/s[8x] write with the 2mb file tests sad.gif

Pengster, thanks for the stat.

It shown that the 2GB Adata is slower than DNA. on phone it only hit 700++kb.
Your card reader is very fast, compare with mine. But still couldn't find the higher speed(bottleneck) on phone.

Let's see others result. smile.gif
*
yeap my card is really slow.on the phone. doh.gif sigh.planning to get one of those high speed miniSDs soon.btw what's the rated speed of ur DNA memory card?im aiming for those above 100x speed. laugh.gif

where are you all n80 users whistling.gif come and give this a try to see who's memory card is the fastest laugh.gif and where the n80 bottlenecks whistling.gif

Survivor:

Thanks for the test. Haih... I think we might hit the bottle neck already... approximately 1mb. Unless we see a better result.

Pengster:
well, hope u wont pay double for that little speed gain.. smile.gif I see some card(branded) is twice expensive than those cheap one.
but theoritically speaking, if any card r/w more than 1 gb should have a same result in the phone. It doesn't make sense to me about your test result if the bottleneck is kept at approximately 900kb/sec. If u have time, just do a quick retest. should have the same result as me and survivor. smile.gif

QUOTE(allrightall @ Mar 26 2007, 05:14 PM)
smile.gif  the n80 cpu lacks a image/ hardware accelerator unlike the n93, so that probably explains the lag.

btw here is my n80 card speed, nokia sd card...
*
well i paid really cheaply for my 2GB miniSD..wont mind paying more for a better and faster card.even transfering stuff to my card using the cardreader is so slow doh.gif

well now there's 3 people reaching the 900kb/s speed in their phone.wonder if there's anyone that gets 1mb laugh.gif

and now,in my images and video, there's only 10 images and 2 videos and its already lagging.i cant believe it.and when i transfered a 200mb video file into it,it lagged till no end. dry.gif

Hi guys,

I need your opinion..

I'm going overseas soon and won't be able to use n80i where I am going - at least not advised coz there they give phones for free when u signup..

What's the price i should advertise the phone for? I bought it at RM1750 in January (AP set) from a shop in Sg Wang.

I'm willing to bundle in 1gb of Kingston MiniSD card for free. Still looks very brand new coz i use the gay bulky plastic cover =p

Would appreciate your views. N pls dun shoot me for selling. aledi sakit coz for sure lose money and this is such a cool phone.. just lurve surfing n shootin pics/vids with it..

Thanks in advance!
*
Since its just like 2 or 3 months old, most prolly you can sell it for around rm1300 including the 1GB miniSD smile.gif

it's not the limit. I have 2k sms b4.
I also tried to store all sms in card b4, but it was very slow.

For symbian, there is a thing call "memory leak" problem. The phone memory will getting lesser from your last reboot and style of using. there are no positive way to prevent this at the moment(as far as i know la). The memory leak wont get too serious if u have lesser background program running.

The best way is to reboot the phone periodically.
*
Yeah.i knew that symbian could store unlimited amount of messages.how laggy was it with 2k smses in your phone memory? laugh.gif

this "memory leak" is a very annoying problem in symbian phones.even when web browsing this also happens. doh.gif wonder when is nokia gonna fix this bug.
