Even when you parking? The way you brake should be very kuat.  brows.gif

No la... just brake normally. Even when I'm not straightening the car i-stop may kick in when I stop the car in park position. This means have to press the start/stop button twice to off the engine. (1st press, engine wake up from i-stop, 2nd press, off engine).

Hi guys,

Just paid my down payment balance yesterday for M3 HS. My SA said no such thing as deduct NCD from downpayment. Have to pay full insurance then claim back NCD from Berjaya Sompo.

Wanna ask you guys did the same way too? From my experience with other car brands all can deduct NCD from downpayment. And usually how long does it take to get back my NCD refund.

Thank you.
*
Of course NCD can be deducted from down payment. SA should buy your insurance with your NCD entitlement which can be checked online. Your insurance premium will be reduced by the NCD. Your SA not very knowledgeable and now causing you extra trouble to claim back your NCD. How long is hard to say as few car buyers need to do this. Check with the insurance company.

Ya, drive more and familiarise yourself with how the engine and gearbox respond to your input and travelling speed.

By the way, do anyone of you think the light throw for the xenon lights seemed rather short? Mine seemed to only go about 1.5 car lengths and slightly more on the left side. But the angle seemed quite broad though.
*
Xenon lights are supposed to be 3x brighter than halogens. Maybe the lights have been adjusted too conservatively for fear of blinding oncoming drivers. 1.5 car lengths is unusable on unlit roads. Should check with SC if they can be adjusted. For my GL, no complaints about the halogen ligbts.

Mazda driver area does feels like a BMW car and more polish design... drool.gif

but the price and trade off for less comfort really a big turn off... my wife is the first to shout NO...

imagine a 155cm woman also cannot tolerate the back seat area size ... sweat.gif

I also cannot imagine. Make sure her objection is really space and not that it is not a Toyota. I know many women only trust Toyota. If you let her make the decision that's the car you will get.

The only thing that i missed is the Cruise control of the high spec. Since i am travelling outstation frequently. City driving would probably have more usage of the iActive sense.
However, driving for more than 10 years....without all those iActive Sense... so for my case it doesn't mean much to me.
But do keep in mind what are the usual mistake you have that causes accident for you, iActive sense may help you with that. Even with iActive sense it can't guarantee you 100% there wont be any accidents.

HUD is a clear mirror, so it won't interfere with your driving.
*
For me the feature I miss most from the HS is blindspot monitoring. I think this is really useful to detect cars in your blindspot when you change lane. Smart City brake I can do without as I'm a careful driver. As for cruise control my previous car has it but I forgot how to use it due to lack of use. Most of my outstation travelling is during festivals when highways are clogged so no chance to use cruise control.

It would be nice if Bermaz give us option to add features we want to the GL instead of all or nothing.

JDM Teknik is doing this but you won't like the price (RM2.1K last time I inquired). For navigation better just stick your smartphone to the windscreen. Or you can pay Bermaz to upgrade your MZD to navigation status.
*
For those driving HS is it worth paying RM1300 to SC to upgrade your MZD for navigation? Are the maps up to date and can you find landmarks easily? I know can use a smartphone but it's never pleasant to get a call when you are navigating.

Not recommended as the Navi sucks. hahaha... While apps such as Google Maps or Waze allows you to key in "Sunway Pyramid", the Navi in Mazda requires you to enter full address, in eg as below.

Street Name: Jalan PJS11/15
Postcode: 46150
Town/City: Petaling Jaya
States: KUALA LUMPUR

I find it is very lousy to use. If you have the full address, then it would be useful to someone like my dad, who doesn't has data or using smartphone. I helped him to set the destination, and he just drive accordingly..  nod.gif
About answering phone calls, I am actually pairing it to MZD (bluetooth). I find it useful when I am driving and there is incoming calls. So when there is incoming calls, I will just use the MZD to answer.

But it will be different story when you are fetching your friends or somebody else, you may not want to disclose who is calling you or the content. Who knows mana satu awek or amoi wrongly call your number...  tongue.gif
*
Walau, this is very inconvenient to use. You need to get the full address first to set the destination. In that case may as well use Waze or Google Map and hopefully a cheap mirrorlink solution can be found in future.

Just got my m3 GL today, very nice but felt instant regret when i saw the post on the comparison between HS and GL head/rear light  cry.gif

Don't mind switching but i think would be very expensive

Still looking for bodykit (front skirt , side skirt, spoiler) /rim options though. icon_question.gif

FEELIN hopeful
*
Yes, it's really too expensive to upgrade any GL spec to HS even if they are available. I'm been told that the front headlamps already cost RM6000+ and you may not get the adaptive thing.

The HS has a long list of goodies. If you can afford the HS go for it or buy GL and regret later. You should only go for GL if your budget doesn't stretch to HS.

Hey all!

I've finally decided to go with Mazda 3! rclxms.gif

I got a couple of questions

1) Is the HS spec really worth it? Any GL owners got regret?  tongue.gif

2) There is optional accs which is SkyTint Film for RM1900.00, is this a good tint and worth it or should I go outside to do tinted?

3) Are there any special offers/gifts from your SA, especially right now is year-end. I asked at Johor bahru showroom (permas branch), no rebate or anything  sweat.gif , only thing they offer is free leather seat upgrades if I'm buying GL

Thanks guys, hope to join your club soon!!  flex.gif
*
Congrats on your decision. Yes, HS spec is really worth it. See this list:

Addition for HS over GL.
1 Larger 215/45R18 UHP tyres vs 205/60R16
2 Auto climate single zone aircond
3 Cruise Control
4 Auto dimming rear view mirror
5 Auto Windshield wiper
6 Full Leather
7 Power seat for driver
8 Navigation system
9 Paddle Shifters
10 Auto Headlights
11 Bi-Xenon , auto Levelling
12 LED tail lamp
13 Smart Keyless entry
14 Head up display
15 Adaptive Front-Lighting System(AFS)
16 High Beam Control System (HBC)
17 Smart City Brake System (SCBS)
18 Rear Vehicle Monitoring System (RVM)
19 Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS)
20 Leather wrap Steering wheel
21 Daytime running LED lights
22 Better looking control knobs
23 Beep sound when locking/unlocking

Got any GL owner regret? Sure I'm one of them. Everyday!

From what I heard the Skytint film is nothing special. Better get your own tint outside.

There isn't much rebate for Mazda 3 as it is already competitively priced. If you press hard you may get RM500-RM1K rebate from some SA.

Well look at it this way. The GL is the same engine and same body as the HS. All the important safety features including reverse camera and USB/bluetooth entertainment/telephony system are included in the GL. The extra gadgets are nice but not necessary for you to enjoy your car. Besides you should get slightly better performance and FC than the HS due to lighter rims and lighter body (due to less gadgets). And don't forget you saved RM15K.
*
Thanks but the RM15K saved did not give me any satisfaction. I'll rather have all the HS gadgets. Now I find that it is impossible or prohibitively expensive to add back any HS feature. I still encourage anybody who can afford the HS to go for it and forget about saving RM15K or you'll end up like me. sad.gif

I changed all the major light bulb :

Low Beam : H11 - Osram Cool Blue Hyper + (5000k - white)
I find this is not totally white, but of course it's much whiter compare to stock original halogen bulb.
I find it bright enough. Note : As said from the website, this is not approved on public road.
But, since our Projector can control the beam height, I always use level 3 to reduce glare to car ahead in city drive.
http://www.osram.asia/osram_asia/products/...38271/index.jsp

Fog Light : H11 - Cree LED (6,000k - white)
As shown as photo - really bright & white. But little more hard to get the reflector to work properly. But worth the effort spent.

Fog lamp casing DRL - White color & turn on when car is start.
This used to be very bright when it's on and whenever i go into parking basement, it's much brighter then the original yellowish stock fog lamp. But not until I change the fog bulb to LED.

Position/Parking light : T10 LED White bulb
Got this from Mr DIY for RM7.50/pair (5 diode). Easy to install, really bright & white too.

Last bulb to change is the High Beam lamp - HB3 or 9005. Plan to get the Osram Cool Blue Hyper + too.

Have you tested out the lights during rainy weather at night? How is the visibility?

Thanks for the advise. Never have thought of that.
But like I said, the Osram bulb wasn't totally white. Hope it's not that bad in rain.  icon_question.gif

Hope they test out successfully but just thinking there may be a reason why this colour temp is not legal on public roads.

Hi all!

Newbie here, hope you guys can help me out with some questions.

1) Do I need to turn off aircond before starting the car?

2) The Rear view monitoring (RVM), can I turn off the beeping sound or make it softer?

3) Mazda provides 3 year free servicing but is there any wear and tear that I should be aware of that needs to be paid out of my pocket? Eg. 2 years need to change battery/tyre etc. and the cost of these items.

4) I got the car and it's quite bumpy, possibly because it's over inflated, what tyre pressure do you recommend? I tried looking for tyre pressure monitor function but not available, I guess this doesn't come with the CKD HS model?

Thank you all!
*
1) No.

2) No idea. Mine is GL

3) Wear and tear items depend on your mileage. They are not covered under the free servicing. Other wear and tear parts are brake pads and wiper blades. Longer term will be absorbers, mountings, drive shafts, bushings, etc. Same as any other car.

4) The tyre pressure is on a sticker on the driver's door edge. TPMS is not included but I've installed an aftermarket one from Victon. Go for the internal sensors for better accuracy and theft protection.

1. AFAIK the 2016 M3 if anything like USA it's the same design wise, but rear view camera is standard now among all variants plus a lot more other features previously only available to high spec at lower prices. Read somewhere that they redesigned the seats and somehow the perforated seats can absorb more road noise. Improved torque and fuel economy. No new colours. Paul Tan mentions that diesel variants are being brought in also, not sure if the M3 will be one of them. Again, don't take my word for it. I haven't got my car yet, wonder if I can wait a bit for the new 2016 model. Also, certain countries are already offering 3 years UNLIMITED MILEAGE across all Mazda models. If they do, 2015 models are eligible drool.gif

*
There is no facelift yet so our 2016 Mazda 3 will be exactly the same as the 2015 model. The model in other countries bear no relationship to our CKD model. As for servicing terms our local distributor is unlikely to follow other countries.

Haha, good thing I put a disclaimer then. I don't see any news regarding the 2016 model, but as I've yet to sign my loan yet I wonder if I can still hang around and wait for the new model to arrive or is that wishful thinking? whistling.gif

My friend told me his friend who drove a Mazda need to wait for MONTHS to get his tyre replaced due to defect. I am aware our tyres are an odd size, but is it that difficult to get a 18" tire around here? I thought the factory is based here should be easier no need to wait for import etc? At least not that long la. No car for a week also I will die already, what more months? If it were me I'd ask them to loan me a car or pay me for my troubles  doh.gif
*
Based on 3 years for a facelift you may have another 2 years to wait!

The 18" Toyo tyre is not easy to find but there are alternatives.

Good thing you didn't buy a Conti car. Leaving in workshop for days or weeks is quite normal for them.

Hi bro, i have not been into the buying market yet...just looking at website listings now..so follow my choice i will want a m3 rather than a honda city

WIll the M3 1.6 be underpower? any major complains about this model (circa 2010/11 model)?
*
Based on the 2.0L engine for the M3 now, if it is replaced with a 1.6L engine then I would say yes, it will be underpowered. So I will expect the 1.6 M3 (2010/2011) to be underpowered as well.

bro. ..... thank you so much with your photos ... wow ur car look really nice ... did u do any polishing etc before this ?

I think this colour looks good depends on what is it under ... if it under shelter it reflects slightly dark aluminium .. if under bright sky it becomes "Proton Sage" silver
*
The colour of the Al metallic M3 taken by Tooney looks accurate. In the sun the colour looks lighter than in the shade but it never becomes like Proton Saga silver even under bright sun.

I fully recommnend the Al metallic. Any scratches, swirls or watermarks are very hard to see. It doesn't look dirty even when there is a layer of dust on the surface. The meteor grey is a much darker grey so I expect scratches and dust will be more visible.
