For the time being, I'd suggest not to apply or cancel any cards. Other issuer might follow suit and cut benefit. It is best to wait for the situation to settle down first .
*
Yes, I will wait till July if it's confirmed from MBB then I will apply other cards to continue my usual bills paying.

A ha, I better pay my UniFi now, since it will due in two weeks time and will use my June quota.

For those who have Autodebit/Autopay tied to any of these two cards, can start to work to cancel or shift to other cards. biggrin.gif
*
This reminds me of my Celebrity Fitness' monthly auto-debit.
The sad thing is no card I can use to substitute it. 5xTP is better than nothing I guess.

Seems like Maybank Ikhwan is the best alternative for me. Mainly on petrol. HLB wise is too much for me, I dont spend that much (10 x RM50 transactions). UOB one card (gold), capped at RM300 for petrol, still maybank ikhwan wins.
*
Yes, I'm still trying to understand how HLB works. sweat.gif Actually it's the AF that turns me off.

I went there dinner at green market with my family last night. quite empty n the food are not that great. I still like the singapore green market. Cost is only petrol n parking fees. How mbb can tahan....tongue.gif

I spoke to the cs. She told me each card got 12x a year but dont know start from when. This means my card n my 4 sub cards got each 12x a year

I'm not as hardcore as you, I will only go there when I need to travel. laugh.gif

The idea of using codes is it won't turn up on Google. Second, it will be harder for banks to read how one "abuse" the system. Making a particular benefit to last longer.
*
We are not abusing the benefits. Those are their features, not that we use any back door ways. I really don't understand this point. doh.gif

Look at it this way. If you spend MAX RM1000/card, after that use another card and you always pay on time, how is Maybank going to earn?
*
Other banks will also have the same problem if this is considered as a problem.

not every cardholder settles 100% of his/her statement balance promptly, banks can still make money.  somemore banks earn money from renting out credit card terminal machines as well.  banks may be earning profits from other activities that we may not notice, their intention is to maintain/increase its customer base and earn more money from these customers

It's OK, everyone has different view as someone said.
I will start monitoring this thread if it has started to divert its direction and make others difficult to read and discuss further.

Are you from competitor bank?
Try to inject negative comment about MBB?
Even without 5% cashback for everything, still a lot will keep it to use for dining and collect 5x TP.
*
He's just surveying around, I think I saw one of his posts that he hasn't owned any credit card yet.
Well, there's no wrong of checking around but I don't think speculation is right. smile.gif

Sorry for misunderstand, i am not aware that the charge is no longer applicable to MBB cards. Because last time there is a debate about this charge. If like this perhaps this card still worth keeping.
*
Last time was Government Service Tax = RM 50 per card, after implementation of Goods and Services Tax, the RM 50 is no longer applicable.
For cards that have no annual fees, then don't need to pay anything anymore. smile.gif

Since MBB is gonna restrict 5% on dining only and I max my MBB Amex for TM bills all these while,  I think PBB Visa Signature will be a much better bet now as the capped amount is RM60 per month and at 6% cashback. Why did I miss this card all along? It seems to be a better choice than 5% Amex is offering , even without the restriction. Or did I miss something? This PBB VS can pay TM bills via Payonline and still entitled to 6% , right?
*
Income restriction, 30k vs 100k. smile.gif
That's why not all can apply PBB VS.

and according to t&c, they need to give only 21 days notice if they want to change the benefits.
*
Yes, and they really calculate exactly 21 days to announce. Too late by then. cry.gif
That said, I will not spend unnecessarily just because of the changes. tongue.gif

Good to know that. I actually rarely log into this forum, but once I read about this on FB, immediately logged in here for more info.
On the same note, I don't expect this 5% weekend rebate to really last since it does not make economic sense to Maybank. From each transaction, they are only getting 3.25% from retailers.

Based on statistical data, approximately 50% of card holders make the full payment every month. Only about 20% will make the minimum payment (this is where the bank will get interest from the cardholders).

Assuming the 50% group who makes prompt payment squeezes this 5% weekend rebate to the max, with not much additional spending (average monthly bill is RM3k), Maybank will be just about neutral from serving this large group of card members. That's a lot of money to serve this group in terms of operations and marcom materials, not to mention all the financial cost that is involved (interest free period).

Just saying, that sooner or later, this 5% weekend rebate will collapse unless the ecosystem can support it. Perhaps more card members that will default on the other side so that they can make more money? LOL
*
Yeah, I think it will still be revised but just the matter of time and terms that will be applied later.

what if they are doing it the same as Ikhwan, 5% CB only for groceries and petrol(either 2 replaced by Dining), no 5x points, only difference, applicable for Saturday and Sunday
