As someone who played ff7 game more than 20 years ago, then watched ff7 advent children and played FF 7 Crisis Core (and 100% it if there's such thing), i think the new remake so far (i'm until chapter 14) is a nice story rpg.

For sure i will remember now what happened to the avalanche members (i cant 20 years ago), and other subplots and despite the linearity (even ff7 original was linear prior to the open world post-midgar - and even then its still somewhat linear as it just offer the illusion of walking around a green patch of grass), it's worth the RM 200+ ringgit to pay for day one one of this game (like watching 10-15 movies).

My only concern now is with the other Episodes coming up, will we get to bring our higher level characters for the ride as we are investing so much in them. If it does (my minimum expectation is level and majority of materia remains the same), then all the more for Part 2 & 3. If its gonna be like FF13 style of parts 2 & 3, then may think twice for day one purchase.

Some points to add also is they added quite a lot of tributes to the original FF7, subtly and not. For e.g.,

1. The VR simulation and Wall Market colosseum is a tribute to Gold Saucer
2. Optional scene involving Tifa, Aerith, and Barret depending on ur decision in the game (akin dating in original FF7)
3. The VR theatre in Shinra building is just like Bugenhagen machine in Cosmo Canyon
4. Kyrie as the joke version of Yuffie
5. Some of the joke monsters in FF7 OG has been re-created in Remake as miniboss

Kyrie was actually in novel which took place before Advent Children where she worked alongside Leslie. They even interacted with Kadaj.

I am rather exited with new direction of FF7. I know the original is already canon. The new game didn't invalidate the old one, but making the original one matter more. For a fan of back to the future and butterfly effect , this FF7 is my cup of tea.

The combat is as i envisioned so far, total warfare, where your summon fight together with you. This first ep is really a trial and feedback test for square. They probably revamped the combat even more where you will not be constrained with max 9999 hp and  space when we do fight weapons, aka ff15 open world combat.

The one thing I wish they add to the combat is combat AI, like Tales combat AI option.

I'm not sure, how good the AI can be. Was trying out classic mode to grind some experience at the colloseum. Slow as molasses. have to intervene so many times just to get them moving

I just recieved my FF7 Remake physical copy from Heavyarm after 2.5 weeks.

After having a go at the game for the first 30mins (I haven't played the demo before), i think the revised battle mechanics is interesting.

The only thing i'm concerned about is the remake storyline vs the original OG game but we'll see.

Folks, now all my characters are at level 50 but where to farm AP? Any best spot for it?  Already completed the game.

just completed chapter 1 and 2 in hard mode
but I found my play log, chapter 14 resolutions witnessed, I only unlock 1 out of 3
so which means I need to replay 2 more times from chapter 2 to 14 without changing to other chapter in the halfway to unlock 3 of them?

and I wondering is it possible to change the diffculty during halfway, as currently I'm playing in hard mode, as hell house and reno are super annoying

Just grind 3 way-battle in battle VR or Chapter 16 on Easy. Chapter 16 - skip the cutscene and clear all of the enemies in the Garage using Firaga + Manify spell. Then reload again
U need to play the entire chapter in Hard mode to achieve the trophy. Can't change halfway, and it already said it will reset the whole chapter if u switch difficulty halfway

I haven't done it yet. But for the resolution witnessed (Tifa/Aerith/Barret) and also Tifa/Cloud/Aerith dresses, I believe u can just skip to the particular chapters, make the intended choices, and jump back to Chapter 14

Now concentrate on 9 dresses and other stuff 1st then only concentrate on hard mode trophy
But from what I saw in internet article, it said need to play chapter 2 (the question that Aerith ask when give you a flower), 3, 9 and 10 will affect chapter 14 witness access, quite confusing
Later will try play chapter 3 with finish all side quest then skip to chapter 9 and see how's Tifa dress looks like
