I have a feeling on this.
First Chapter: PS4 Platform Second Chapter: PS4 and PS5 Platform Third Chapter: PS5 Platform. I think they really want to shoot up the sales on PS4 and make us buy PS5 for the second and third chapter.  But being promised to have at least 40 hours of gameplay for each chapter, I don't mind having it to be split to 3 parts. Scenario complete does not mean game complete lol. Fail journalism is fail journalism.
 Scenario complete means that the layout, concept, assets and structure is in place IN ONE SCENE. In game dev terms, designers has dozens (or in FFVII's case, hundreds) of "scenes". Even something as small as jumping off the train CAN be considered as ONE scenario. Original Jap article never said anything about the first part of FFVII Remake, it says the first scenario (which whatever it is) is done. A player can play through that part without vertical slicing. However none of it is polished, bug tested and finalized. |

7 Remake Part 1 is being targeted to come in late 2017.
Part 2 is slated for late 2018. There are zero pre-production plans for FF16 currently. We most probably won't see another main FF title until the PS5. |
