BTS National Station - Silom Line
MRT Hualumpong

They are not walking distance at all.

Alternative options is to take the boat from Tha Phra Chan to Tha Sathorn and take the BTS Saphan Taksin - Silom Line

Good Luck

I'm having headache atm.

Don't know which hotel is good in terms of comfortability, cleanliness & mobility. (budget around 90-120)

I'm planning to stay in Sukhumvit area, so any good hotels around there?

*edits* I heard Hi-Sukhumvit is pretty good budget place to stay....any reviews on that place?

sa-wa DEE Krab,

I will be going to BKK next month for photography and shopping trip. rclxm9.gif Arriving on Wed late night ~11pm and leaving on Monday at 3pm. So, I will hv 4 full days and 1/2 day on Monday.

Here's what I planned out smile.gif, (pls. advice if this is ok). I hv yet to plan on what to do at night. Appreciate some help. smile.gif

Thursday - Grand Palace and Wat Arun. Are these 2 places near by? Doable in 1day? Suggestions for night?

Friday - Floating market (should I take the 1/2 day or full day tour?) How much would it costs for the tour? Suggestions for night? Sum Lum night bazaar?

Saturday - Chatuchak. Massage at night as I guess we will be flat by the end of the day.

Sunday - probably Chatuchak(1/2day) again if we r not done shopping on Sat. smile.gif. Suggestions for night? Maybe on this night I will visit the Baiyoke Sky Tower or the Sirocco Tower(Rm17/entry?).

Monday - Jim Thompson house.

As I will be bringing my dSLR camera and few lenses, is there anything that I should be aware?. If I'm not mistaken, photography is not allowed inside Jim Thompson house?. What about the other places? If I hv to leave my camera at some locker or ticket counter, then I guess I wont be going to the place then.

We will probably stay at either the Tai-Pan Hotel, The Elegance Suite or Unico Leela hotel(these are shortlisted hotels la), anyone here hv experience with these hotel? Care to share your experience?

Hope you nice ppl here could help me out. Thanks a lot. biggrin.gif

Pretty far away from nearest MRT/BTS...I think the nearest is via the last MRT to Hua Lam Phong Station. From there u can take a Tuk-tuk or taxi (Preferably taxi) The distance from the MRT to Khao San road is another 5KM North West from the MRT station. U hv to past thru Chinatown first..so what u can do is shop around Chinatown (Walk for another 1-2 KM from Hua Lam Phong) & take a cab to Khao San road further North from Chinatown

U will be dissapointed if your target list include: electronics, h/phone, video games , DVD & even T-shirts because the price of these items are higher than Malaysia...Nevertheless u can get others cheaper..well marginally only such as: clothing (not T-shirt as most of T-shirt selling at thb90-thb100!!), bags,  sharkfin, & etc...

i beg to differ on some of the things u mentioned. no doubt electronics like cameras can be found for a cheaper price in most cases in KL. but with video games ( i assume u mean pc games too) prices for ORIGINAL stuff are much much cheaper. also cheaper are original DVDs. dunno about the pirated stuff since i dont buy those. for example you can get an original COD4 for RM55 in bangkok. here is around 120 i think? double the price right wink.gif and original dvds i've found for RM25 only if you check out some stores in MBK like maang pong.

as for the clothes, i think ur the first to tell me u can get it cheaper here. have you checked out the prices of clothes in pratu nam? chatuchak? sam paeng/pahurat? i know ppl who go to bangkok just to shop and come back here and sell @ higher prices, while its still cheaper than KL. maybe u can give some direct comparison of stuff that are cheaper here than there and still provide so much variety (which to me is important...pointless to have just one small joint that sells cheaper stuff if there is hardly any to pick from).

even for original brand clothes, the sales @ central branches and robinson are sometimes cut-throat. you can get original luigi batani or valentino shirts at these places for as low as rm35 if you go @ the right time (i'm talking about mall shopping here, not street/bargain shopping).

anyways maybe our experiences differed or you just know more places than me in KL since in my 4 years here i have yet to find a place that can satisfy my shopping needs like bangkok does smile.gif maybe others can give their input wink.gif

Hehe..I'm talking those pirated DVD one..& those souvenir T-shirts & not branded thingy...I dun go for branded blush.gif + I might be wrong on the video games as I'm not on gaming. But judging on the prices of electronics there I though the game console such as PSP is cheaper in KL.. blush.gif

The pirated DVD....Everywhere I go around Sum Lua, Pratunam cloths markets area (Prongtip IT Plaza)..& etc I cannot find anything lower than 100bath!! BTW, avg pirated DVD in KL is ~RM7 and some areas RM6/each..in Bangkok, Min 100bath!! or RM10/each such a dissapoinment...BTW, Penang Batu Feringghi DVD is selling at RM4/each - Bali pricing!! shocking.gif biggrin.gif

On the souvenir T-shirt, I can get the same T-shirt 2 for RM10 in Langkawi or even RM8 in Petaling Street..In Bkk, MBK (Suprisingly the cheapest -Fixed thb90-thb99!!) Even Pratunam areas..The t-shirts is selling at 100bath..after discount thb80! Thats KL pricing! U can even find a reasonable t-shirt for RM5 at Klang Valley pasar malam! biggrin.gif

Nevertheless there are other items that are cheaper in BKK...Food...roadside start from thb20 and Malls food court from thb35 which is cheaper than KL. Also other souvenirs such as decorative laps, leather bags, Bags & etc...I managed to get a Samsonite (Fake) notebook bag at MBK ofr RM90 only rclxms.gif ..& the quality is better than the real thing! shocking.gif ..One thing I like in BKK - the varieties..u can't find it in KL or Singapore.

BTW, those ppl in Malaysia probably gets the stuff in BKK via wholesales in Chinatown - Yes I agreed the stuff at Chinatown especially at the wholesales area are cheap..suprisingly cheap!! shocking.gif Atleast 1/2 of pratunam pricing but need to purchase atleast 1/2 dozen /1 dozen! of same items mad.gif ..Those ppl in chinatown even chased me out vmad.gif .."Shouting "Wholesale-wholesale ONLY!!"
