I guess one additional risk factor to consider is the risk of flight delay on first leg if you're flying two separate tickets.
*
from where im flying...all are separate tickets...no fly through from kota kinabalu to HND
have to buy 2 separate tickets
unless i buy MAS's KK to NRT direct flight...RM932/way...not sure there will be any promo price or not

u mean MAS?
still long and i dnt think it will be any cheaper
AA free ticket promo for end 2016 to early 2017 should be coming soon
vanilla air frm TPE to NRT is 2688TWD(4 flight/day)
AAX from KL to HND is "should be" RM414/way(if i can get this price)

anyone here from S&S tried doing KK to taipei thn transit from taipei to NRT using vanilla air?
instead of the conventional KK to KL thn KL to HND(late night arrival)
i notice the price offered by vanilla air is more stable throughout instead of AAX which most ppl know...will have blackout date and limited ticket
*
If I were you, I'll take the KK-HK, or KK-TPE, then from there take the connecting flight to Japan

1st, it's shorter distance, and should be faster not including transit waiting time

also, since KK-TPE flight is the first flight out, so far I haven't heard any delays on that flight, except flight cancellation/detour due to typhoon in that area.

For me no choice, either Kch - KL or Kch - SIN first, then connecting flight doh.gif

I'm gonna wait for the AAX sales for 2016 year end to Hokkaido thumbup.gif

i dnt mind connecting flight
i care more abt cost laugh.gif
and here weighting the pros and cons
but as of right now...seems that going KK to TPE thn TPE to NRT seem to be the most convenient and cheapest(based on AAX RM414/way and vanilla RM400/way)
and by using this method i can arrive at NRT at earlier time

and AAX sales year end december..usually are blackout date...no promo
my TPE trip..i wanna get december also no cheap price, have to buy january

Just booked an airbnb for my hiroshima stay. No choice as my initial booking with booking.com has increased by RM300. By the way, has anyone used a taxi in Hiroshima before? Some sample fare based on departure/destination would be appreciated.

This is not a place for discussing promotion ticket.

If you guys discussing how to get to Japan by another route was acceptable. Such as Vanilla Air Option.
Good chocie because It makling you reaching Narita by daylight. On need rushing in Haneda such as AAX.
BTW Narita to Tokyo got 1000 Yen Bus. Refer to Page 1

Vanilla Air more detail can refer to Page 1 too.

If you guys discussing promotion ticket ,...Rmxxx Rmxxx again. I will report both for you to Mod and do clean up

The most best Option sure are EVA Air. They flight to Japan almost every 1 hour per flight.
Most best sure come with more price.

Anotehr option from Taoyuan to Narita are
TransAsia Airways
TigerAir (Taiwan)
Vanilla Air
JetStar Japan

My Personal recommend will be JetStar Japan

Eva Air are my always No1 choice to Japan. Most flight to Japan are using Hello Kitty theme.
Vanilla compare to Jetstar Japan. I prefer Jetstar more.
From brand to reliability.

Jetstar Japan ticket option just need add 1000 Yen upgrade you got 20Kg Check in Luggage , Free meal , Seat selection.

There are no more any 3 Day Passes. Now only have daily pass.
Refer to Page 1 Tips of the months section.

You can get this One day Metro Pass at Shinagawa Station.

Plus daily pass are not cheap. You need ride mnimum 8 rides per day. If not will be not worth it.
