3 of my friends went to Tokyo without knowing about the ICAO / non ICAO on passport thing. They had non ICAO passports and also no visa. Went in no problems no questions asked by immigration officers.
Your mileage may vary of course. Just adding a data point.

lucaswjk Sounkyo those hiking trails to the mountain summit how hardcore is it? Wear normal sneakers can liao or must buy those real hiking boots? [edit] hmm some blog say if wanna hike to the peak need proper shoes or rent boots http://www.frommers.com/destinations/sounkyo/620241I suppose in October it will be farking cold as well huh. Gotch go down to 0deg? Summoning RegentCid oso. [edit2] hmm it seems around mid September the summit already normally snowed in and no more colours. And in early October when we go probably it will be snow, ice and mud. Is it adviseable for two 30-something inexperienced hikers to go up? Footwear, I read that can rent rubber boots from 7th station Hut? This post has been edited by deodorant: Sep 3 2015, 01:31 PM

QUOTE(mt24 @ Sep 8 2015, 10:18 PM) So was thinking to take flight from KL - Narita and return from Fukuoka - KL as I was thinking to go to Hiroshima. Is that too ambitious? Be specific a bit. You want to do Tokyo and Hiroshima only in 2 weeks? Or Tokyo and all surrounding areas, then Kansai all areas, then Hiroshima area?

QUOTE(yvonnesoo @ Sep 14 2015, 03:20 PM) Day 5: Tsukiji Market Ginza Odaiba Shinjuku This is really really packed, especially if you are planning to attend the tuna auction (cos then you'll be awake by 3am). If you're a young 18 year old full of energy and can sustain 18-20 hours non stop then OK, but normal people will be farking tired by early afternoon.

heavencloud have you already bought flight tickets? Cos 6d5n trying to cover Tokyo AND Kansai is stupid (it's effectively only 4-5d after you take out the time at airport, shinkansen, etc).

midnightsunray typically last week of March - first week of April. Weather conditions can skew this by +/- 2 weeks. So if you only going 1 week, there is element of luck whether you kena full bloom or not.

RegentCid and other daikors, what's the one place you'd go to have late breakfast / early lunch at Odaiba? Currently shortlist yotekko ya. But later night going shinjuku thinking of doing the touristy thing and eat at ichiran ... two Ramen meals a day seems overkill lol.

QUOTE(akira de aimbuster @ Sep 28 2015, 01:09 AM) Just wondering, is there any good platform besides Agoda to look for accommodation? TripAdvisor for hotels (aggregates a few other booking sites like booking.com, expedia, japanican etc) for hotels. AirBNB for private housing.
