QUOTE(Gen-X @ Aug 15 2015, 12:20 PM) Updated Post#1. Not many new straight forward FD Promo except those reported by magika and cybpsych. I have no one to curse except myself. That's why I never promote FD that is bundled with UT, If one loose money, will curse me like hell, hahaha. Better go burn your Ringgit fast before you get less for the same Ringgit now, e.g. Cordon Bleu and Rolex (with the weak Ringgit, best place to buy a Rolex now is Malaysia). Bro, you bought your son ticket to US? If you following him - check out my article Visa Buy 1 Ticket and get the Second Ticket 50% Off for Malaysia Airlines, China Airlines, British Airways and Singapore Airlines. And if you are following your son to his Uni and then want to visit other US destination, go to United Airlines website and choose Multi-City option and you may save some money on US domestic flights. Example, You flying with him to LA and then to the city where his Uni is and then you want to go to Vegas and San Francisco before flying back to KL. Click here to learn more about United Airlines Multi-City where I gave step by step instructions. And another tip - go google for United Airlines Malaysia, they use to have an office in KL where I bought the Multi City ticket 6 years ago when my son went to US and maybe can be cheaper since paying in RM. Thanks for your info on buying bank draft, I have taken the same way to pay for my son's fees in U.S. But the way the rate is going up is scary. I did not go with him as wanted him to experience and tough him up. Have been to various places in US esp SFO, LA, Las Vegas, Puerto Rico, Seattle, New York, Phoenix, Hawaii etc. Have to go more to the east coast including Washington DC. Read your blog and UA Multi-City option looks interesting. May do this maybe 2 years time as will let my son back next year and visit him 2 years later. QUOTE(Vincent9696 @ Aug 15 2015, 02:48 PM) Last month I put 65k , bank teller didn't give me extra also...swt Hard to say, you have to negotiate with them. BR keeps on changing the so called nego rate threshold limit between 50k and 100k. Different branch may tell you differently. Talk/call to them. Mind to share if above 50k can gv extra of how many %? For 50k, may just get 0.05% extra. But may not get also. 100k higher chances of getting. Nego with them. This post has been edited by bbgoat: Aug 15 2015, 03:19 PM |

QUOTE(magika @ Aug 18 2015, 10:34 AM) There comes a time when time constraint at the moment and lazy to nego. Its part of the reason why removing most of my BR Fd's for other promos. Main reason is Not Scaxxx meh ! When one has enough, one do not want to nego ! I have not placed any new FD in BR for >1 year already. Just maintain some amount there. |

QUOTE(BoomChaCha @ Aug 18 2015, 03:52 PM) Ah Sir, I did not call. 0.5% extra for 1 year placement ? I manage to get I think extra 0.2% for amt >100k 12 mth FD about 2 years ago only. You are referring to 61 mth deal to get 0.5% ?? But based on my experience with BR, I think to get extra 0.5% is possible lah but the FD amount has to be more than RM 50K. QUOTE(BoomChaCha @ Aug 18 2015, 03:52 PM) Ya loh.. 1k can get 4.285% sounds not possible.. Well...this is possible only if he is related to carpet man lah.. QUOTE(Human Nature @ Aug 18 2015, 07:41 PM) So basically at the counter, I request the counter staff about this and get him to speak to the manager? Small people only take queue number, no direct access to manager wor. Small people with Big Money !! Tell them the eggs you have and ask for the rate you want. The bigger the egg the higher % you can ask ! Let us know your result. Since 1k can get 0.185% extra, with more eggs, tell us the % you can get. Chased my SCB RM on the late interest for the 15 mth 4.5% FD. He apologized and said already submitted for "manual interest calculation". Why take so long ?
Not all foreign banks have good system in place. This post has been edited by bbgoat: Aug 19 2015, 10:27 AM |

QUOTE(kyenli @ Aug 19 2015, 02:41 PM) Mine is (2) Renew principal at prevailing rate for same term, credit interest to same currency account number . Is there a difference arr? What's yours? Mine is also 2. Anyway the first one for the 4.5% received interest but the second one did not. So looks like their system got problem.Small potato they don't want to layan me haha. So you would have to raise your voice up one way or another. The previous 15 mth 4.25% also have problem. It was resolved later. |

Me too. One of the sour grapes.
Instead of talking about boring FD rates, no exciting promo, cursing SCB, a refreshing look at life and at interest rates from a top notch Guru (who just joined us in this thread). This post has been edited by bbgoat: Aug 19 2015, 09:35 PM |

QUOTE(BoomChaCha @ Aug 20 2015, 12:37 AM) Last time the SCB Service Manager told me this is the first time SCB runs FD promo longer than 12 months tenure, Lousy lah, no excuses for them this time especially after fixing the 15 mth 4.25% issue. so probably SCB system cannot generate auto credit interest to saving account for FD more than 12 months. Then for this 15 mth 4.5%, my 1st one on 23/7 (placed on Jan 23) received interest, then 2nd one did not. Funny ! Or they are meddling with their system to delay the interest, something fishy ? Yours one coming up in early Sept, right ? This post has been edited by bbgoat: Aug 20 2015, 09:29 AM |

QUOTE(gchowyh @ Aug 20 2015, 10:27 AM) Try complaining on their Facebook page, then make sure other people like your posting I just blow steam here. Since my RM said already submitted the claim, just waiting for it to be resolved. All of a sudden you will no longer hear system problem, lol! My case for the first round of interest was never solved even after all of you got your interest as they closed it on the basis of system problem due to the issue that they chose the option (which is transparent to customer) payment of interest upon maturity after 15 mth. All I got was an apology until I wrote the formal complaint on Facebook. |
