I went to electric shop few days ago and the staff recommend me Haier because have smart clean and i-feel mode.
From what i know diff manufacturer have diff method of self clean.
Seems like this haier self clean method is way more better than self clean by blowing. Is there any other manufacturer using the same method or way more better self cleaning? Is Haier reliable for AC?

Does the water wash itself in self clean method? 'Cos that would be helpful so that the coils are clean.

Yes,according to the shop guy he told me that it will go into the drain pan and straight to the pipe where normal evaporation water flushed off.
*
Yes I did a check. What it does is it freezes the coils so a layer of ice forms, this then evaporates and cleans the coils. SO SMART.

If you are buying AC from Shopee w installation it should be OK?

My installer didn't want to install Midea for me. So I don't think you want his number.

He recommended us the Panasonic non-inverter basic one which is good and bad.
https://www.panasonic.com/my/consumer/air-s...-pn12wkh-1.html

Good because:-
1. it has only 2 modes (dry and cool)
2. It also has an easy to remove drain pan according to the installer. Easy to 'clean'.

Bad because:-
1. it's a Panasonic and I had a bad experience with them in the past. Our old Panasonic that had all those fancy sensors. I was not happy with the old Panasonic at all. Gave me a lot of grief.
2. No Eco Mode? OF course cannot expect much from a non-inverter but still...

I don't know why ACs are built in a way that's hard for normal people to dismantle to clean. Hahaha.
MCO made us all want to clean the ACs ourselves. As long as we keep the filters clean, the AC should be cool.
Like my Daikins, the installer told me that it's very hard to remove the drain pan and roller and to do so, I'd need to dismantle it from the wall? My installer likes to clean the ACs by removing it from the wall. Usually, he just brushes the AC so it's not the cleanest in my opinion.

*
YEs because it's big. My Daikin 1hp consumes that much of energy.

Then that explained why you need 2HP. No wonder many said the top of 2.5 storey don't make it as bedroom.

IT's hot because you didn't put reflective sheet in the roof?

I saw that my energy consumption for my Daikin 1HP 3 star is the same as Panasonic 2HP inverter 5 star. *sobs*

Besides Daikin, which other AC Wifi models have energy consumption information on the app?

Hi guys, i have been using my Panasonic aircond for the past 10 years. I used to service it (detailed service where the guys will dismantle the indoor unit & cleaned it properly) once a year.

Recently for the past 2 years, it keeps on leaking near the blower. N the problem is solved every time i serviced it. But it only last for like 4-5mths before it leaks again.

The aircond man said its bcoz my aircond is too dirty n requires frequent service.

Any advise on this?

u have to change your AC - it was the same as mine - panasonic that just kept being problematic and same problem as yours. once i changed it, it was all ok

one of my unit is full midea wall AC inverter R32 type.. back to end of 2020.. so far energy consumption really good, no big difference as compared to panasonic.. turn out AC still very cool after nearly 3 years time.. no services by any technician.. just normal maintenance by cleaning the filter only.. for the price, i will definitely go for Midea for sure.. i already planned all midea AC for next home at year end cause it came with wifi module.. price a lot cheaper compared with panasonic/daikin..
*
cool. does wifi tell you energy consumption? How often do you use and how much per month

Wifi just helped to turn on and off. I installed 4 units but mainly used 2 unit. Sleeping time for sure I'm on around 12 hours. Then office time I'll on 4 hours at different room. 1.5 and 1hp. My bill usually less than 200.

I think you need to install right HP to cool down your room faster and inverter will save you in long run. If seldom use, non inverter also good enough. Bedroom I'll suggest inverter AC as we used it daily especially after I have baby.

R they all inverter and are u on three phase wiring?

wanna ask, is it normal for the non-inverter AC to stop working when reaches the preset temperature? it will become stuffy and hot... is the inverter AC working as so too?
*
Yes non-inverter will cut off if temperature is set up high. To run non-inverter is to set it low so it stays on as it works to reach the set temperature. Preferably 20 degrees.

With inverter, you should be able to set it at 25 degrees and what happens is when it reaches 25, the AC continues running but with less energy consumption and on a power save mode. It will not work so hard because it is keeping a constant temperature. A bit like cruise control.

My second hand aircon for tenants switches on by itself, especially high electricity bill as sometimes they leave for college sem break for 2 weeks and aircon is switched on. We changed the remote control but still face the same issue. Learning that it could be due to various internal issues like dirty compressor etc, after all, it's a 2nd hand unit. Do you guys think it's cheaper to repair this type of fault or just buy a new one? Thanks in advance!

Need to change the 20a switch to a starter.

Bumping this in case anyone else have different views smile.gif

As I won't be changing from my R22 non-inverter aircon, wanted to know which consumes more electricity.... lowering temperature or increasing fan speed?
*
U will have to change it eventually. And soon too.

Lowering temperature consumes more electricity. Say the weather is 30 degrees C and you set to 18degrees, it will need to consume energy to bring it down from 30 to 18 Vs a rainy day when outside is 28 degrees.

Increasing fan speed stops reduces mold

Just lower the fan speed.

Blower and cooling coil get clogged over time which slowed the speed of air travelling through the coil. Therefore it cools down much more and result in cooler air. Even if you get a new a/c, it felt the same way. It cold faster but not that cool.

I have seen electricity spikes since Aug. Scenario:

1. A 1hp AC drain clogged in late Aug - washed it out and the AC doesn't leak anymore - but I set the AC temp lower and put fan speed at 3
2. A 2hp AC drain clogged in mid-Sep - washed it out and the AC doesn't leak anymore - but the fan speed was set to 3 at end of Aug

I am thinking of increasing the temperature on these 2 ACs but keeping the fan speed at 3.

How will this affect the energy consumption @voscar ?

And how will this affect the cooling if it gets clogged? I noticed that ACs get clogged when your filter is clogged. The filter catches the large dirt but the finer dirt gets through and clogs the coils.

I'm trying to @voscar but that doesn't work. I don't know why.
