I have use mapking and garmin mobile xt and believe MXT GUI much better. Most versatile in term of usage would be garmin que. But that's old version which graphic is so-so only.

Most of the GPS user prefer to use GMXT, but some of the PDA seller already bundle Mapking in their package. To use GMXT you need to invest more either buying that program or buying Mobile 10x BT GPS. If you already have licensed for Mapking why not continue using it. If you have more budget available then you can change to GMXT. tongue.gif

Search it under Product Category>Pocket PC Map>Asia Cities>Peninsular Malaysia. Choose full version, not the upgrade version. It cost you HK$554. tongue.gif

tested out mapking yesterday.. sufficient for my uses.. but i've got some questions:

1) when we purchased the software, are we given the latest map ?
2) since there's official and unofficial maps, and im presuming im being given the official map, how would i know that the updates im about to give is not already in the unofficial map ?
3) i've been googling around and i saw maps that didnt finish with " .m7a " instead it's MalsingWM.G12 ... are those maps compatible ?

1) which mapking version are u buying? some versions once u buy u can use any map, some versions u buy the MAPS instead, so u pay per map
2) not quite sure what you're talking bout, refering to the malsingmaps?? do clarify
3) Again, two difference Mapking software. .m7a = Mapking 2007, .G12 = Mapking G12. For intents and purposes, they're the same, though the G12 version looks sleeker, and newer and cooler. IMO. And no, they're not cross compatible (if i'm right)

uh within mapking 2007 there's few version ?

2) what i mean is when i buy, i'll be given official software right. and malsing unofficial maps is more updated and more widely used (i believe tongue.gif)

so, how would i know whether the newer updated unofficial malsing maps, has the corrected or add on locations im about to give from my official software ?

I think within Mapking not Mapking 2997. hmm.gif

As per map update. You can base on date map published. Or you can try to compare it both version.

its up to u how often u wanna update the maps. for me i update the map maybe after 3-4 months, when i think there's possible some major road changes or something.

mapking and garmin are both good, just that Mapking got 3D. check em both out and see which u prefer.

the holux car charger? dun know what u talking about, if it can fit your pda's port, and if same voltage etc, i guess u cud do that

from what i can see, if u buy from their site, its 2007. but those bundled (as in officially bundled) normally they give u G.12. Again, like i said, their build is actually the same. different packaging thats all. so dun worry about "which is better". Same

be careful in KL though, where they're many flyovers crisscrossing each other. Because GPS accuracy 10 meters, u'll have some problem.

If your GPS directions seem to conflict with the signboard, follow the signboard, not GPS. at least u're heading in the right direction. If its not the way GPS shows, it can easily recalculate.

bottomline, u shud at least have a look at the map to know the GENERAL DIRECTION you're heading. I once wanted to go Shah Alam, ended up in Kajang. Old malsingmaps with garmin that time not updated enuf =.=
