If you are using Mapking base navigation software, you need to have map license in order to use their map or map from other provider eg. malsingmaps.com. Because your unit been purchased in Malaysia, map license for malaysia already been included for you but if you wanna use Singapore maps, you need to buy map license for Sinagapore. Better go back to your dealer and ask them...

can i install Malaysia and UK map in this unit ?

For TomTom GPS device, I'm afraid you will not get a very details maps for Malaysia like Mapking or Garmin. But if you already have both map, you can use it together.

Yes, it activated the A-GPS feature of that phone and you need to pay for data transfer if you are not data unlimited user... And if you are using or have ehem software, please don't mention about it, keep it for yourself only...

Just wondering..... among Malfreemaps(MFM), malsingmaps and Garmin's City Navigator® Singapore/Malaysia NT, which one is better and more accurate??
*
I have never use Garmin original map but among those 2 the most famous free GPS maps for malaysia. I can say for Perlis, Penang, Kedah and Perak, Selangor and KL you can use MFM. For Melaka, N. Sembilan, Johor, Sabah, Sarawak and Brunei you can use MSM. For Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu, I think more less they are the same. But for more comprehensive maps for Johor and Singapore you can try Jerome own version map but you need to give a donation.

Thanks for the recommendation bro! But another newbie question....is it possible that we can keep more than 1 map (example both MFM & MSM) in our phone and switch between each other manually when we require it? Since from what I know s/w like Garmin XT loads map with the filename gmapsupp.img. Or can we rename the maps into different names such as gmapsupp.img, gmapsupp_2.img etc and choose which 1 to load later?

Normally what I do was I keep separate GMAPSUPP file from both source in other folder. When i want to use it I just copy it to Garmin folder. This method can be apply for PDA user...

As for now, there is 2 site offered free map. Malsingmaps.com and Malfreemaps.com. You can be a member to both site or either one. The instruction for installing their map can be found at their site.

At current you need to contribute something like POI or GPS track in order to get the unlock code for the locked map. But according to the latest announcement from the site owner, there is no unlock code require for next map release.

No need for you to get extra hardware. But you need to get the original Mobile XT software (selling with SD card) in order to use it with internal GPS

I would suggest a standalone GPS device like Garmin Nuvi series since you only need to install the map only and it was a straight forward device.

Hi guys. I'm newbie here. I've old pda Ipaq h2210 that lying around for years without any good usage. Well, recently I got myself a bluetooth
GPS receiver so that my Ipaq won't be useless. I bought I-blue 737 with 54 satellite tracking. I'm actually happy with my purchase. I now can go anywhere I want without getting lost. Also, I found some new road to use. tongue.gif

Right now, I'm using Mapkings and Garmin XT install inside my Ipaq h2210. Both are great. But I think Mapking is easier to use but not easily configured for routing. What you guys think?

As for myself, I choose garmin base device/software because I can use my own map on it. Since using Garmin you can draw and compile your own map on-line at Mapcenter. But when compare Mobile XT and Mapking, i will always choose Mobile XT since already familiar with their syatem since Garmin Que era... tongue.gif

where can i get the original Mobile XT software (selling with SD card) and what is the price for that?

anyhow, we can dowload the software from Mapsing, is that consider original?

If you are in KL, you can go to Digital Mall or if you are in Seremban you can go to Starlite Tech. Other than this 2 place you can try looking at the website like M3GPS.

wow, thanks for your answer. But somehow I think the reception with Mobile XT is worse than
Mapking. I wonder why software in PDA can affect GPS reception? Any idea?

a) Also, the Mapking will recalculate/reroute very fast if go to wrong way. XT do it after few second.
b) Mapking speed calculation is spot on. Same with my odometer. XT speed is slower than my odometer.
c) Mapking warn u about your speed. But XT just keep quiet.

But I think XT calculation/routing is better than mapking. Not sure why. Maybe Mobile XT map better.
Also, I think Mobile XT map is more detailed?
*
To me reception for both are the same since I'm using the same GPS device for both application. For recalculation, Mapking detect wrong route a bit faster than MXT. For speedometer, there is a lot of other thing affected cause differences speed between GPS application and vehicle speedometer.

And for map details, Garmin map more details if you are using free maps from MSM or MFM but if you are using original Garmin map, I think Mapking will be more details than original Garmin map.

need help on my Garmin Mobile XT..

im using Kaiser (wm6.1 - official from HTC)
after i upgrade to WM6.1 from WM6.. my GXT got always got error on que.exe when i used to navigate..

i've try to uninstall and install fresh GXT on my kaiser but the problem is still occurred.

anyone here got problem like me?? how to solve it??
*
AFAIK your GPS have built-in GPS chip and for using Mobile XT you need to buy the software from certified Garmin dealer. So, it much more easier if you go back to the shop where you buy the software and ask the how to rectify your problem.

i was on my way to pankor with my mapking soft...using peninsular map..gosh... it gave me sum screwed up way to reach lumut..quite bad...plz dont 100% rely on ur gps...i followed gps to make sure our direction was right ...then the rest i just followed signss...

this being said...mapking gives accurate speedometer readings..but the map has to be updated.!!..
*
I think that was not software problem but it was more on map details problem. You can have the best GPS device for road navigation in the world but if you don't have map for that particular area then it become useless. So it is better to check the map details for area you are planning to go before you feel regret when you arrive there.

Since your phone have built-in GPS, you need to buy the Mobile XT software. For free Mobile XT software it will look for Garmin Mobile 10x.

nhi, I am a new Omnia user, want ask about GPS setting, anyone using Garmin Que, and CCproxy, which guided by Malsing maps?
PLease kindly guide me which port CCOM should i use for my hardware port?
*
I just googling around MSM and didn't find any guidance for Omnia user using Garmin Que + GPS Proxy. I guess you need to do some homework by testing all the available port. Just make sure you install both application (Garmin Que and GPS Proxy) first. Then you try to get satellite fix from Proxy before connecting the software to Garmin Que.

If you have any problem after trying it, you can drop you Q here and we see what we can do with the help from other user. Anyway, have you try asking this Q in the Omnia forum?

1) You can use 3rd party backup for that like SPB Backup.
2) Yau check version of your map by comparing it with version available at Mapking website. Or you can go to Malsingmaps.com and download the map from the download section.

For manual you can find it here.

Btw, i tried to use 'Find Road' and when i key in ss2/61, there is no match found. How come ah? When key in SS2, there is only SS2/1 and the rest is SS23/something..

Your car have heavy tinted. If yes you need to have external antenna for GPS. I'm using external antenna and normally can get fix less than 2 minutes even on the moving vehicle.
