If your mileage is below 20,000 km, you can claim against warranty. Warranty for battery is 1 year or 20,000 Km whichever occur first.

Does anyone know if the KIA Cerato logo at the front and back can be changed to the 'K' emblem instead of having it as 'KIA' ? Can this be requested when buying a new Cerato?

Hi owners, please share your experience on the battery die off issue. I have seen a lot members here reporting that the battery died off within 1 year. Is it only happen once for the 1st year, or it will cont' to die off every year.
I will be placing booking these few days, but I am concern about this issue. If this is ongoing issue probably i will skip this and go for city V spec.

No, when the key is removed away from the car, the engine will not turn off by itself. However, the car will give a warning "ting-ting" chime to alert the driver than the key is no longer in the car.

This is not an issue with the car, it is more of the battery itself. If the battery is no longer working within 1 year or 20,000 km (whichever occur first), you can claim warranty for it, otherwise you need to get a new one and it should cost about RM300 plus only.

If you replace it with a reasonable good battery and depending on usage, it should last around 2 years or more. Hope this battery issue does not affect your consideration in choosing the right car.

Ya, agree that the engine is quiet.
Wind noise still bearable, but the tyre/road noise is really annoying, maybe I shoudn't compare it to my previous car, fiesta and 308.
Overall I like this car.

I test drived fiesta ecoboost, slightly less tyre roar then cerato and was in dilemma of a powerpack little eng VS spacious n comfort. But end up this car. laugh.gif

Not sure about batt as i own this car for 6 months only. But i do keep a habit to off my auto headlight, puddle lamp, wiper and off all switch (HU radio/aircon/fan) before off my engine, preventing equipments to direct power on when start engine. So far no issue and only onces i left my car 4 days without starting.

Just go for the car that gives you confidence. Be it value/equipment/power. Because if you are confident, later issues you will have less emotions. As not all car will 100% comes no problem, still possibility of manufacture defect.

When talking about car battery, I will think of Century, Bosch and Panasonic. Can you suggest which brand/model work best with Cerato. I will be happy enof if the battery can last for 2 years+-.

Tips and tricks buying a new car (discussion)
1) I wonder when we buy a car with a loan, bank calls for verify releast of loan. Can we only release the load when we have seen the new car and upon receive?

2) After SA presend the new car, can we take the car for a spin nearby and check it out under sunlight instead of showroom light before signing receive?

3)If we have issues on car minor scratches and dent or even we suspect it's not as new as claimed (more than 6-9 months after coming out of plant) can we request to change unit?

4)My SA when to stick the plates up before i receive, maybe in future that could stick after owner satisfied with the car?

Above just for discussion on workable and better procedure. As i found out point 1 & 2 is what i mistake, after release loan, we confirm buy the car already, no turning back, and due to showroom light, some very minor issue is not visible at showroom light.

it happened to the batch that used Watta's battery only. earlier CBU batch comes with Delkor's battery, does not face the same issue.

On the subject of car battery, it is also important to note the specs, namely CCA (or another unit of measurement is EN) and RC:-

Battery specs recommended for Cerato by Naza Kia is as follows
12V 60AH 92RC
550 CCA (SAE) or 440A (EN)

1) Cold cranking amps (CCA): CCA is a rating used in the battery industry to define a battery's ability to start an engine in cold temperatures. Generally speaking, it is easier to start an engine in a warm environment than in a cold environment. The rating refers to the number of amps a 12-volt battery can deliver at 0°F for 30 seconds while maintaining a voltage of at least 7.2 volts. The higher the CCA rating, the greater the starting power of the battery.

2) Reserve capacity (RC): RC is a general indicator of how long a new, fully charged battery can continue to operate essential accessories if the vehicle’s alternator fails. It identifies how many minutes the battery can deliver a constant current of 25 amps at 80°F without falling below the minimum voltage, 1.75 volts per cell, needed to keep your vehicle running.

For the same battery size in the market (often called DIN55), you will find varying specs and price. Cheaper does not always mean better!
