QUOTE(dopamine @ May 9 2019, 06:08 PM) Yes. How is the FC? And will it feel underpowered with 1.6L? Quite tempting with the price and 5 years unlimited mileage warranty. FC is about 6.8 Litre/100 km but this is of course dependent on your driving preference and road condition. 1.6L is not underpowered, suggest you do a test drive to find out more.

QUOTE(cendolpulut @ May 9 2019, 06:42 PM) Waiting eagerly or latest gen one to arrive in Malaysia. I will have a hard time deciding between these new cars hehe Yeah. I've been waiting for more than a year now since Korea launched. Still hoping they'll bring in the proper GT version with the 1.6 turbo, and not some GT-Line which is just aesthetics. Still don't understand why Malaysians like looks more than actual powertrain. This post has been edited by alvint89: May 10 2019, 11:29 AM

FC is comparable to proton 1.6 liter engine cars. It does not feel underpowered at all when you use the paddle shifters. For me it is acceptable.

Browsed thru the thread and some complained rattling dashboard, steering problem, radio reception not clear, etc. Are those issues still occur for current latest batch? How about the maintenance & spare parts availability after 5 years warranty coverage? There are mix comments that expensive and affordable.

I've never faced any of those issues you've mentioned. Till today I still send my car for servicing at Kia glenmarie. However, if you want to go somewhere else after warranty period ends, you can get Kia spare parts at Segambut.

Those problems highlighted are not typical, they don't happen on each and every Kia Cerato. With all due respect, I don't think it is ever possible to find a particular car model that is totally problem/defect free. It is important to note that Kia ranks very highly in Initial quality study IQS report. This is an independant study and compares the number of defects found in new car across many makes. Hope this helps you in your decision making.

If you check the threads for every car manufacturer, here or on FB, you'll find an assortment of problems, some small but niggling, very occasionally major. The Kias are as well made as any other Japanese car in its price range, sometimes better. Some people have their heads stuck deep inside the Honda/Toyota holes, nothing else matters to them but resale value. Of course, the volume of H/Ts sold here makes parts cheaper; scout around and you can find a non-SC workshop that will look after your Kia well and can source for parts.

Resale value is not really my concern as i plan to use the car for 7 ~ 8 years or even 10 years. And the only things that i concern are reliability and maintenance. Now i'm trying to climb the thread and get the input from owners as well.

But if you take from other 3rd party sources, cost can be lower. Do remember that you still need to add a 6% for SST, on top of the 15% premium based on sum insured.
