True in a sense. But most tank slapper happens when you at high enough speed (so throttle discipline is important on unfamiliar road) hitting a bump that lifts your front end; especially during corners. The longer the front end is in the air the greater chance the front end starts to wobble.

The feedback force in a tank slapping situation is through the weight transfering to front, making the handlebar oscillate. If you open up your throttle a bit (by about a quarter) you will take weight off the front, reducing (and oftentimes eliminating) the handle wobble.

A bit difficult when cornering of course, you get rid of tank slap liao then have to worry about low side lol.

QUOTE(Seager @ Jun 10 2015, 10:33 AM)
Bikers2 sekalian,

Mohon pendapat.
I am 25, never rode a bike before (actually got lah kapcai, but just 1-2 times).
Now considering getting a bike, already have L license.
Was thinking of Kawasaki Z250SL.

I do not intend to use this as an everyday bike to get to work, nak jinak2 dulu as weekend bike - to learn and get better. Or maybe after work if balik awal, boleh la pakai motor keluar gi makan.

My concerns are as a noob, can I use this as a weekend bike? I am looking for something low maintenance, and less complicated. I had initially considered getting a Blade but based on the posts that I've seen on the Naza Blade Malaysia page, it seems i'm gonna have quite a big headache if I do get one.

Hence, I've considered the Z250SL. Any inputs on this bike? Aku nampak kat 2nd post macam tak ramai pakai motor ni.

why no consider ketam duke?

That's why damper is important for inexperienced rider. Most riders will panic and try to counteract the wobble. Doing that just make things worst. You need a loose grip on the handle and let the bike sorts it self out and that's where experience comes in. Soiled pants in coming for anybody experiencing a tank slapper for a first time...hahahhaha
