Do join the CFA Malaysia page in FB. =)

It's ok whichever institution you join. The most important thing is learning something out of it.

I went to the career talk that Noesis has organised as well. Its kinda impressive and surprisingly there was a big crowd. I guess more and more people are getting interested in CFA.

I have a feeling that Noesis has good ties with the people in the industry. Seeing that they invited these people from CIMB and ECM Libra shows that. And I actually like the idea that they offer the foundation class for those who didnt do a degree in business. smile.gif

I think I will join their class and sit for the June '12 exam.

p.s. did anyone add them on Facebook? they are saying there are only 7 spaces left. Wonder how true is that?

Hey cheekymonkey,

They only cap the number of students per class at 25, so better register before the place is all taken up.

Btw, if you get >70 in all subject areas, your next level classes are free. I'm studying Level 2 for free now at Noesis (work hard, it's achievable), just have to pay for my exam fees.

You can pm me if you've joined Noesis. It'll be weird going around asking, "Hey, are you cheekymonkey?" @.@

I think in kasturi, you will get 70% or 80% rebate when u get >70 in all subject areas, not 100%. the remaining rebates come from fulfilling other conditions.

btw fino does getting >70% in all ur subjects give an added advantage while looking for a job?

I dont think so. The Most employers will ask is "Did you pass all three exams at the first attempt?". For myself, it's a form of self-satisfaction. Aiming for another all >70 in level 2 so i can get level 3 classes free as well. Tht way, i push myself to learn & understand the material well, ace the exam and get the scholarship. At the same time, prepares me for interviews and possibly future jobs. Even if I dont achieve all >70, it's not a big deal as well. Thr most important thing is gaining knowledge.

Why suddenly the change of mind to go to Noesis? I thought the classes at Kasturi is alright

the only reason for noesis is the career placement

i need that because i'm not sure if i can get a job after passing level 1 itself. i will need 4 years to get the charterholder.. sigh.. so i wanna save as much time as possible =(

if kasturi has that career placement thingy i would go for it..

another concern for me is i read online that some say CFA doesn't help at all if u're going into IB's.. MBA from top uni's are the only way

After Level 1, it's possible to get a job but more competition. Now there are More n more Candidates who have passed Level 1. Your chances will be higher after Level 2.

Noesis provides career service but it's not guaranteed. It depends on the companies themselves. My friend doesn't have an MBA but he is in an IB now (CF). He just completed his Level 3 recently. So what do you think?

He was in the wealth management unit at a bank. I'm not sure which industry you're in now. A friend of a mine switched to a equity analyst role at a securities firm (previously in the credit dept of a bank) after his Level 1. It was not a one hit shot getting the job interview/offer as he faced countless rejections before.

Whether they want to take you or not depends on your attitude & personality. Are you a good "fit" to the team/organization? Of course, expect rejections along the way. The industry is still in search of people, juz that they can't seem to find the right person.

Along the way, work on your soft skills, microsoft words, excel (very important).

You can try applying after you've passed Level 1 or 2. Who knows what the outcome is if you never try at all. My advise to you is to finish reading your Level 1 syllabus and start applying for investment-related jobs asap. That way, at least when you go for interviews, you won't look blur.

I did get some fair share of calls for interview from a bonds rating agency (research associate) & top local commercial bank (risk management officer) before & after I passed Level 1, but I didn't attend for certain reasons. So who knows a company might call you up if they find that you are a CFA exam candidate and you mighr fit into their team. Better be prepared. =)

hello. i ask for information for noesis as well, however i did not join because i think it is better for me to save money before i join CFA. The fee, 5.5k is for all 3 lvl or level 1 only? Can someone let me know the price of all 3 level, so i can prepare for it? Anyway i now working, plan to take 2 years later.
