-> "couldnt find any job in stockbroking/asset management industry with cfa lvl1", what so great with Level 1 that giving an illusion you will get a job in stockbroking/asset management? Any 'job' some more? Toilet cleaner? In my opinion, you don't know what you want, that is the problem why you can't get a 'job' in stockbroking/asset management.
i was aiming for entry position for ER, so with at least lvl1, it give u some edge compared to other candidates who doesnt have? especially those not from the industry itself and without cfa?
what i dont have is the pratical exp, have not pay any "tuition fees" yet, would like accumalate more knowledge (been reading lots of report) before paying "tuition fees"

indirectly, to pay less "tuition fees".
and since no reponse from boutique research house, my alternative will be looking for any jobs in the industry, to gain some knowledge whereas you cant as a retail investor... at least you're working in the industry, but different department...
you can turnaround and say, perhaps you cant sell yourself because ur resume & letter is piece of crap.. i would say why not we use this piece of crap to apply for other clerical or back office job in the industry while improving the content of the resume/letter? to improve the probability ?

the industry is so saturated with cfa holders+ candidates atm, cfa lvl 1 doesnt give you any edge at all.
I am only joining cfa because my company is sponsoring me to do it, even though they explicitly told me they don't treasure cfa holders as much as an experienced employer. They are sponsoring for the sake of utilizing the training budget allocated.
chartholder? REALLY?

if you were saying lv 2 candidates, then i believe la... that is something new to me. and i do agree that malaysia doesnt value CFA that much compared to other countries.. haha..
so do how do you venture into the industry ?
