1. You will get all the rebates for 11 transactions provided all within the 3 categories.
Scenario A: You swipe 10x RM50 for categories other than you selected. 11th transaction is RM30 for mobile. Monthly rebate = RM3.
Scenario B: Same as A but the 10 transactions are in the categories you selected. Monthly rebate = RM53.
2. Monthly rebate = RM0.
3. 4. See No. 1.
*
So each transaction have to be minimum RM50 to be counted. hmm.gif Kind of tricky. Need to keep count of each transaction.

Hi,

What about auto-debit transaction, like those monthly payment/bills that is automatically charged to credit card (even if is not part of any of the categories). Are those counted as "transaction" as well to fulfill the 10X RM50 requirement?

Thanks.

for mobile and utilities I find it easy to remember as I can pay Rm50 multiple times on the spot during bill payment. also, it's ok to pay more each time you pay bill and not spend the following month. this month you can fulfill the 10x requirement.

Guess not. Cause you need to select what categories you want and then use the card to pay for the categories

Yes, it is counted as transactions.
But then if you do so, the effective cash back are < 8%.
So this card shall be your second card and cannot be used as first card.

Meaning to say:

5 X RM50 (all are part of the selected 3 categories) = rebate RM25 ?

But for above to be valid, I will need another 5 X RM50 transaction to meet the "10 X RM50" requirement. So I perform another 5 more RM50 transaction that is not valid in any of the categories: like Astro... Insurance... Hospital... I will still entitle the RM25 cash back?

Is this understanding correct?

Thanks.

Wow. I thought all this while, to get CB, one needs to perform 10x transaction for the category one chooses.

your impression is from those who wanted to maximize ALL their spending within selected categories AND meeting 10x RM50 transactions at the same time.

actual fact is, ANY RM50 transactions shall be counted to "activate" the 10% cashback; however only transactions within selected categories would be given cashback.

as janson_kaniaz mentioned, if this is your ONLY card, then no need to bother much. just hit 10x RM50 transactions on whatever that you spend, then cashback will be given to those within selected categories.

Yes, but no more 8% cash back, it will be diluted. So if this is the case, better get cards like Maybank dual cards.

your so-called better cards (maybank 2 cards) will no longer any good, or we should say one of the worst by 1/8.

No more 5% cash back? No problem, cut the card only and get another.

Assuming you are getting rm100 of cash back by spending sharp rm1000 on the 3 selected categories, that's rm1200 of total cash back and rm12000 spent.
But, AF can't be waived from 3rd year onward(I say from 3rd year as 1st year sure waived, 2nd year some can get while some are not and 3rd year cure charge and by doing anything also cannot be waived). So you need to pay rm169.6(GST inclusive), so rm1200-169.6 = rm1030.4 of total cash back.
And your spending still at rm12000, so it is 8.58%, but I just use 8%.
If you spend lesser than rm985 or spend > rm1000 or non selected categories, it will dilute your cash back more sweat.gif

Yup, that's right.
But then even from 3rd year onward, it is still worth to use, as long as you spend rm985 thumbup.gif
Thus, I never say 10% but 8% laugh.gif
