The PAK FA is a single-seat, twin-engine jet fighter, and the first operational aircraft in Russian service to use stealth technology.

user posted image

It was designed by the Sukhoi Design Bureau. The aircraft will be used to achieve air superiority and assist in ground attacks.

Besides its ability to fly at speeds well above Mach 2, the T-50 boasts other, even more important, features such as invisibility to radar and powerful weapons which will be unveiled later.

PAK FA or T-50 has unique features making it the best in its class among other similar aircrafts in the world.
So far Russia has five such aircrafts. The aircraft meets all the requirements of the fifth generation fighter. It is undistinguished, has a supersonic cruise speed, it is able to maneuver with large congestion, equipped with advanced electronics and is multifunctional.

It’s capable of performing all known aerobatic maneuvers, a feature that sets it apart from any foreign competitors.
This aircraft is able to “stop” in midflight bringing down speed to zero performing a free fall and then re-gaining altitude and speed.

The Deputy Head of Flight Operations Company "Sukhoi", honored test pilot, Sergey Bogdan, has tested more than fifty different types of combat aircrafts. According to him the T-50 has a much higher controllability than other machines.

“It has a high sustainability. In the future, it will carry out fundamentally new aerobatics,” said Bogdan.

“Engine nozzle deflects in such a way that the plane stabilizes its position. Dangerous unfolding moments do not arise, making it pretty amazing,” says test.

A special suit for pilots who will fly the newest Sukhoi PAK FA (also known as T-50) jet fighter has been developed by Russian engineers and scientists. The suit was specially designed to make the pilot feel comfortable during supersonic-speed flights. It is equipped with an anti-G system which features a hose for delivering air to the pilot.

The gear also features pockets for flight documents. In the abdominal area there is a metal plate which presses against the pilot’s body to maintain blood flow to the head.

The costume was developed and is being currently tested by Zvezda R&D center in the city of Tomilino, near Moscow.

their LDP will have hard time for multiple heli operation compared to a flat platform like mistral
when i say landing, i mean more of heli operational side..
No yet only, once china is more pressing, we will see a push toward a point landing operation between the country in dispute. We will most likely team up with SG

well, for china, they look down all asean navy now, they only respect US navy, there military poeple view asean even all navy except US navy.
They just think all asean/asia navu ship just there missile traning target, look down capability.
they china already plan 40,000 tons LHD, there philosophy now is must design ship more or less same size with US navy ship or bigger then US ship.
mistral ship long tima ago already look down by them and they view is rubbish ship.

we no have AAW frigate to protect Mistral ship, also at normal day, mostly just use as logistic transport ship, also need a lease a small frigate escort, during emergency only can keep in base.

Egypt, other countries interested in French Mistral warships - source
QUOTE
About 10 countries, including Egypt, are interested in buying two French helicopter carriers whose planned sale to Russia has been cancelled due to the Ukraine crisis, a source familiar with the situation said.

A second source, a French diplomatic source, said that other countries interested include Brazil, Singapore, Saudi Arabia and Canada, which could be the most suitable candidate for the ships because they were designed for cold waters.

France, whose navy already operates three of the Mistral helicopter carrier warships, has no use for the two ships and will have to pay Russia nearly 1.2 billion euros (£850 million) for cancelling the contract.

The first source also said that Egypt is negotiating the possible exercise of its option to buy two Gowind corvettes. Last year Egypt bought four of the small warships, built by DCNS, which is 64 percent owned by the French state and 35 percent by defence group Thales.

The source added that in the future Egypt might also be interested in buying a second Fremm frigate, also built by DCNS. Egypt acquired a first Fremm as part of a 5.2 billion euro contract for 24 Rafale warplanes earlier this year.

"Egypt's initial need was for two Fremms, but its budgetary constraints currently prevent any negotiation about a second ship," the source said.

The Fremm and the first three Rafales that were delivered to Egypt took part in the opening of the new Suez canal this week, which was attended by French President Francois Hollande.

Hollande and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sissi have discussed Egypt's possible acquisition of the two Mistral ships on the sidelines of the canal inauguration ceremony, the diplomatic source said.

Hollande said on Thursday that France will have no difficulty in finding a buyer for the carriers.

Despite a lot of difference, Singapore still share many cultural similarities with Malaysia, due to shared background. Compared to that Indonesia do seem like total strangers to us. Singapore really has way too much to lose if any conflict goes on with Malaysia, same goes with Malaysia.

Also because of the 1971 FPDA treaty, Singapore and Malaysia actually has a practical mutual defense pact, so Singapore-Malaysia military relationship are actually pretty tight no matter what some people like to think. biggrin.gif

Malaysia Langgar Batas Wilayah TNI AU Siapkan 4 Sukho

(win/jpnn/rm1/tnn)

MARITIME SURVEILLANCE. Christening of armed Augusta Westland naval chopper. PH Navy photo

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Navy on Monday morning, August 10, christened two brand new choppers and two hand-me-down supply ships from Australia.

Bottles of champagne were poured onto the nose of the choppers while bottles of wine were smashed for the good luck and safe travel of the vessels.

The new choppers boost the Philippine Navy's maritime surveillance capability while the two Landing Craft Heavy (LCH) vessels allow easier transport of troops and cargo from one operational area to another.

The two Agusta Westland 109 naval choppers are armed with caliber 50 machine gun and 2.75-inch rockets. It will improve the navy's maritime air surveillance and close air support for ground troops because of its maritime surveillance capability, amphibious air support operations, weather search radar and forward looking infrared systems.

Unarmed versions of the choppers are already working in tandem with the country's two most capable warships – Barkong Republika ng Pilipinas (BRP) Gregorio Del Pilar and BRP Ramon Alcaraz – in patrolling the West Philippine Sea (South China Sea).

These vessels will boost the navy's capability to transport personnel and equipment during military operations or during humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations.

“These new assets are manifestations of our navy’s optimum readiness to perform its tasks and the ability to adapt vis-avis the emergent operating environment. This special occasion likewise signifies the assurance from your navy of renewed strength and vigor in accomplishing our mandates," said outgoing Navy Chief Vice Admiral Jesus Millan. – Carmela Fonbuena/Rappler.com

Chinese Seek Brazilian Assistance With Jungle Training

user posted image

QUOTE
MANAUS, Brazil — Chinese military officials have requested the Brazilian Army's assistance in developing their own jungle warfare training capabilities, officials here said.

Briefing reporters in July, Col. Alcimar Marques de Araújo Martins, commander of the Centro de Instruçao de Guerra na Selva (CIGS – Jungle Warfare Training Center,) indicated that China had recently arranged to send a group of officers and NCOs to be trained at the CIGS, but they canceled their attendance in favor of an alternative approach.

“They have now asked us to provide a number of trainers and our jungle warfare training expertise to assist them in developing their own program in China,” he said. There was no indication as to the immediacy of such cooperation or the number of trainers likely to be sent.

While it is not clear why the Chinese are expanding their jungle training operations, the country does have long, jungle-covered borders with several neighbors.

Known as COMBATER, the simulation system is based on SWORD, the artificial intelligence-based core wargaming solution developed by the MASA Group, Paris. SWORD has been tailored for the customer to take unique aspects of Brazilian Army tactical doctrine into account, as well as more directly address the developing training requirements. In July in Comando Militar do Sul (Southern Military Command) commanders and staff from 3rd Division — one of the largest in the Army — took part in Operaçao Liberdade Azul, a division-level, four-brigade exercise that successfully stretched COMBATER to its limits. The exercise used all 128 licences MASA provided in its initial contract and coordinated headquarters staff for the division and its component units with elements of those units training "live" in the field.

Opposing forces provided from within the division were also catered for within the simulation.

South Korea vows to make North pay 'harsh military price' for landmine blasts at border

QUOTE
Military tensions along the heavily-fortified frontline on the Korean peninsula have soared as South Korea vowed to make the communist North pay a “harsh price” after landmines maimed two soldiers.

Seoul’s defence ministry accused the North of planting three landmines that rocked a border patrol unit at the demilitarised zone (DMZ), a 2.5 mile wide buffer strip of land that separates the two Cold War foes.

user posted image

wooden-box mines, allegedly buried by North Korean soldiers, being exploded around a gate on the southern side of the DMZ near the city of Paju, north of Seoul, on 04 August 2015..

United Nations forces that monitor the ceasefire at the DMZ also blamed the North for laying the mines, saying that they appeared to be new devices planted along a known South Korean patrol route.

South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff threatened that its military would make North Korea "pay a harsh price proportionate for the provocation it made". Seoul’s high command described attack as a "baseless act" and "wanton violation" of non-aggression accords and urged the North to apologise for the attack and punish those responsible.

The two countries remain technically at war because the 1950-53 Korean conflict ended in a ceasefire rather than a peace treaty.

As an immediate response, South Korea vowed on Monday to resume propaganda broadcasts across the world’s most heavily-armed border for the first time in 11 years.

Show of military might as Army, Navy, Air Force and Police Force display vehicles and equipment at NDP 2015

SINGAPORE - It was a show of military might at the National Day Parade as the Army, Navy, Air Force and Police Force displayed their vehicles and equipment in a 15-minute performance.

A convoy of 179 vehicles rumbled past the Padang, making the line-up of this year's Mobile Column, which returns to the show after five years, the most diverse.

Twenty-six vehicles made their debut, including a combat ambulance, an armoured engineer vehicle used mainly for clearing mines or demolishing wire obstacles, and a latest version of a battle tank.

A 22m-long specialised marine craft, which is used for the defence of bases, was also unveiled for the first time.

To pay tribute to the pioneers, a retired colonel Goh Lye Choon, 74, who took part in the first mobile column in 1969, joined others to lead the convoy. He rode alongside the Mobile Column Commander Lieutenant-Colonel Lim Kah Kheng in a Leopard 2SG Main Battle Tank.

A section of the 2km-long convoy also passed through the Marina Bay area.

Even those who did not have tickets to the Padang were not left out of the fun when vehicles from the Singapore Civil Defence Force doused the crowd with water from their hoses as they drove by.

Yemen loyalist forces gain more ground in Southern Yemen, Gulf states step up direct ground support

UAE Leclerc MBTs advance northwards from Aden. Observers have counted at least 9 Leclerc MBTs are in use by UAE ground forces in the fighting

Yemeni Popular Resistance forces on Sunday captured from Houthi rebels multiple cities in the country's central and southern provinces, including the capital of the Abyan province, the city of Zinjibar, which fell to the pro-government forces after days of fighting.

The fighters seized four districts in the central province of Ibb on Monday, residents and local officials said, bringing the armed resistance closer to the group's stronghold in the capital Sanaa.

The rapid progress of the Popular Resistance and the national army pushed Houthi and former President Ali Abdallah Saleh’s militias to retreat in several provinces. Due to this, the Houthis declared a state of emergency in the capital city Sanaa.

Senior Yemeni military commander Abdullah Subaihi said last week he expected government forces to retake Sanaa within two weeks.

The pro-government commander said: "Popular Resistance forces and the national army, backed by tanks supplied by the Saudi-led Arab coalition, managed in the early hours of Sunday to seize control of the 15th military brigade and all government buildings" in Sanaa.

In a related news, a Saudi fighter plane accidentally dropped bombs at a loyalist position near Zinjibar, killing 20 loyalist militias and injuring dozens more.

Frigates for Algeria under construction in Shanghai

user posted image

A photo posted on the internet indicates that China is constructing two C28A class corvettes based on the F-22P Zulfiquar-class frigate for Algeria at Hudong-Zhonghua shipyard in Shanghai, according to the Sina Military Network based in Beijing.

China agreed to provide three C28A corvettes to Algeria under a contract signed in March 2012. Each of the ships is equipped with a 76 mm NG-16-1 gun, an eight-cell FM90 launcher for HQ-7 short-range air defense missiles, two quad launchers of C-802A anti-ship missiles, and two seven-barrel 30 mm Type 730 close-in weapons systems. The hull numbers of the two warships are 921 and 922. One of the vessels has already been fitted with the HQ-7 missile system.

The first of the three corvettes, with 920 as its hull number, was turned over to Algeria two months ago. China began the construction of the three warships, designed based on the four F-22P Zulfiquar-class frigates China produced earlier for Pakistan, in 2013. Beijing and Algiers are currently discussing plans to construct three additional C28A corvettes in Algeria.

As they are an upgraded version of the F-22P, Algeria's C28A corvettes are more advanced and powerful than the ships built for Pakistan. Sina Military Network said Algeria's C28As look more like the PLA Navy's Type 054A guided-missile frigate. Each of the ships can also carry a Westland Super-Lynx Mk140 helicopter.
