hi everyone. I used to bring my Olympus EPL 2 whenever I went to travel for many years. However I have iPhone 6 now and I found out that it's camera feature can be as good as or even better than my Olympus. For example taking photo in low condition iPhone works better than Olympus EPL2.
Now I was struggling whether should I just use my iPhone 6 to go travel coz its significantly smaller and lighter and more convenient obviously. Or should I use Olympus EPL2 to shoot just because it has slightly higher megapixel than iPhone 6?
I need suggestions from you guys. Which one would you bring if you going to travel?

you would bring your phone for sure, if you think it take photo better than your EPL2, just let it sleep at home

well it actually boils down to how you use your camera. If you are a casual photographer who dont see the need to control your lights, then iphone 6 is definitely good enough. In fact, i feel that the iPhone 6 handles dynamic range pretty well and is definitely one of the best camera phone you can get in the market. (If you are hipster enough, download VSCO) however, if you want to venture into travel photography which involves candid shots, long exposure shots (to capture stars and dreamy waves etc) and you have the interest to learn them, then maybe your olympus camera is better to stick with. Just my 2 cents. Sifu, please correct me if i am wrong

Just curious, have you tried experimenting controls on the camera like shutter and aperture? Part reason why i prefer camera over phones because depending on settings and situation it can produce much nicer photo than iphone auto shot. But admitedly phones jpeg nowadays can be vastly superior than camera in some situation. If your answer is no and you mainly use auto settings on epl2, then iphone is better.
Also, did you try other lens like primes which can produce sharper images?

Actually I mostly use P mode on Olympus and hardly use on other settings, unless is portrait with night view background then I would say the double flash is it? Mostly these two modes. No, I only have the 14-42mm lens with my Olympus, plus my EPL2 zooming has problem, when I zoomed to 25mm above then the screen will goes black and says LENS ERROR bla bla, which I think its a common issue for Olympus user, this is sad coz need money to repair. What I know now is iPhone can take nicer video than EPL2 , this is absolutely true

What I know now is iPhone can take nicer video than EPL2 , this is absolutely true P mode is almost close to auto mode which auto adjust aperture and shutter. Night scene is already auto, which tend to select flash or longer shutter speed. Im also assuming, you dont bother much with tweaking raw file. The iphone is right choice for you. At most i can say is that you wont get those impressive creative shots like creamy bokeh or freeze action scene from iphone. But if you primary just shoot scenes without hassle, it is more than enough.

Maybe in the time to come when we can interchange lens in phone, then tht will be another story.

Plus it can post process image and share instantly, so its no doubt that a lot of people choose it.

the answer you looking for, iphone 6 sensor technology has already surpass EPL2(more then 5 years model). YES. in many ways except maybe the lens quality (deep details) thats if you going to do large prints. If you just plan to upload to FB or use as wallpaper or show your friends via your pc/laptop. iphone6 will be the best choice, provided the battery will last better then a camera (not sure if u use roaming or airplane mode oversea/traveling)
the iphone6 in term of image output, i would place it between EPL3 and EPL5 era...
Bokeh is a photographer's craving... non photographer wont be bothered by it.

I would rather get rm200+ canon 50mm F1.8 Oh, if i have an iphone, I will definitely get the Olloclips. The wide angle lens is able to produce GoPro-like images. Macro is also cool. If i am not wrong, I saw some people using that lens in the iPhone World Gallery.
