Hi all, planning to buy basic smartphone for my mom and dad
Any recommendation? no need canggih2, as long as can use whatsapp, dual sim and basic functions (calls, sms, radio, camera) are decent should be OK
Was looking for the DirectD promo for Lumia 630 buy 1 free 1 but sudah sold-out pulak

1. Brand. (any)
2. Budget. (rm500 for 2 phones)
3. Specs. (basic entry level smartphone with dual sim and reliable basic functions i.e. calls, sms, radio, camera )
4. What you need in the phone (easy to use as this is for my mom and dad who are >50 years old)

Thanks in advance

The K80 will have overall better spec, just that it doesn't has Micro SD slot.

yeah it is limited budget, but then i just want my parent to get a feel of using smartphone first
if OK, only can consider a better smartphone

what if i remove the dual-sim requirement, is there any more phones can be recommended?

dont la say i never reasearch like that.. i am targeting a midrange phone for moderate usage that can last for a couple of years.. i am the kind of person who use my phone smpi puas one.. why i say like that because currently i am still using samsung galaxy s2 which i brought during stone age, only sent repair once bcuz screen cracked, still working but d lag all is currently bothering me so much that i need to change to a new phone.. open whatsapp also got waiting period..

i did my research on oneplus x, samsung j7, honor 7, motorola g as i am targeting a midrange phone:

oneplus x: ~rm1300, great design, but heard d spec are not as good as the spec

samsung j7: ~rm999, most balance for me, my family all use samsung n hav good experience with it even after multiple episode of drop but design is plastic, but can get diff phone brand with better spec around same price

honor 7: ~rm1399, the best spec for its price, dnt hav experience with china phone, hav a bit of doubt for china phone bcuz my father n brother bought new xiaomi drop it & screen cracked, summore i read malaysian user review in honor 7 offical page & some other page doesnt giv me a good impression, maybe d one who satisfied with d phone dnt bother to giv review

motorola g (3rd gen): the 2nd generation was d best midrange phone for last year

what i need in my hpone is basically microsd slot, removable battery & good spec that could run for a few years

btw, how important is NFC in our country setting

dont la say i dnt do research cuz im expecting views from yu guys through experience

Cheaper somemore doh.gif Alcatel Pixi 3, but note this only got half everything of Y5C. so Y5C is a better option than this.

trust me. that cheap2 phones usually came with little of ram. usually around 512mb (guess how much the remaining free ram?). and they will complaint the phone is always lagging.

fork few more hundreds, and get at least phone with 1gb of ram.

Based on luck I guess. I think that their warranty is limited to 3 months for hardware, 2 years for software only. Better check their warranty policy 1st.

I didnt read too much into J7 but with your budget i will say look into Samsung Galaxy A8. I was considering it against Honor 7.

5.7 inch
Very thin and light
Internal 32 gb with 2nd sim slot that can also host a memory card
Run in house E5xxx chip (i have the same chip on my Galaxy Alpha)
3000 battery with good batt life

I saw some cheap set in garage sales around 1350 and even on lazada they are going for 1500 (use shopback to get extra 6%)

I remember back then Gsmarena had a review of the best compact phone, it was iphone 6, Galaxy Alpha and Sony Z3 Compact. I choose Alpha purely down to price factor as it was 50% of iphone 6 16gb.

Newer gen of samsung has lighter version of touchwiz and prior to my Alpha i come from S2 and Nexus 5. Of course i do miss the pure android experience but i can live with the new touchwiz.

K80 and P90 should be the same phone with the same spec.
Only different is K80 do comes with a variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.
Because both phone do not has memory card slot, it is encourage to choose the bigger internal storage one.

However, if you can live with just only 32GB memory and 2GB RAM, then choose the P90 with original Lenovo warranty, but surely I won't recommend with only 32GB memory.
