I'm currently on a 3 years old iPhone 5. Unfortunately due to a lack of fiber connection at home I'm forced to use it as a tethering device. Now the battery and the screen of the phone is already in the unusable stage - battery lasts about 20 minutes unplugged, and the screen is bent.

I will be moving to Terengganu for work soon (fresh graduate), and I'm looking to venture into the low-mid range android market for a temporary replacement while I save up for a new phone, with a budget of MYR900.

Here are some criteria I'm looking for:

1. ~5" screen (4.7 to 5.2 will do. can compromise if needed)

2. Long battery life (I will be working long shifts in a chemical plant and might not have charging utilities for a long time)

3. A normal camera will do (I rarely take photos with my phone, but still need one to take decent pictures of the equipment in my plant)

4. I manage my phone quite frequently so the memory size does not matter. I need important apps such as Whatsapp, Twitter, Reddit, and ~5 management apps. I rarely play games on the phone and when I do its only mini games like Piano tiles, plague, or minesweeper. I do have about ~300 songs tho. For reference I'm using the 16gb iphone 5 variant and still have >3 GB free space.

5. Weight, size and build don't really matter. I have slightly larger hands and I usually don't use a casing.

6. Dual sim is not required but preferable.

Thank you!

Edit: No lenovo if possible. Had bad experiences on it sad.gif

Thank you for the suggestion! rclxms.gif

But unfortunately I got bad experiences regarding Lenovo phones. I bought 2 for my parents and one ended up with burnt chip (replaced and now still working but still occasional heating up), and another one with a loose SIM card slot (can't be repaired according to the technician :/ )

is there any other phones from other brands that are similar? Thanks again! thumbup.gif

op2 wins some

Hi,

I am the proud owner of the OnePlus 2 since mid-august (owned the OnePlus One previously for about 1 year), but I had the chance to test a Lenovo Zuk Z1 for about 2 days. Actually it is the phone of my girlfriend but I got it shipped to my home and she let me use it for 2 days.

Don't expect this to be a big review, and sorry in advance if I am not clear in my explanations, english is not my native language.

First impressions of the Lenovo Zuk Z1

It came with the Chinese ROM with Zuk UI, so I instantly flashed the official CyanogenOS ROM, because for those who don't know, Cyanogen is officially supporting this phone.

Fingerprint Scanner

The fingerprint scanner is extremely fast and accurate. I would say it is twice faster than the OnePlus 2 and I was not able to get it to fail. I tried to unlock the phone for at least few hundred of times and this beast unlocked everytime. The technology behind or the algorithm is definitely much better.

Design

The Lenovo Zuk Z1 looks good (white model). I really liked the premium feeling of the metal border all around the phone. The front of the device looks pretty as well but I do not like the back. The back doesn't feel cheap but it doesn't look incredible nether.

ROM

The ROM.. what can I say about it.. well CyanogenOS is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G ! It definitely feels like a finished product and is very stable. It feels even more polished than the CyanogenOS version of the OnePlus One. Even the latest Facebook version works ! (unlike OxygenOS 2.1) There are tons of feature, it was good to see the Theme Engine back as well.

Screen

The screen looks beautiful, there is nothing bad I can say about it.

Performance

I didn't run Antutu Benchmark because I don't believe in benchmarks statistic since everyone can cheat them. What I can tell is that the Lenovo Zuk Z1 boots up about 8 seconds faster than my OnePlus 2 running OxygenOS 2.1 and having installed the same exact applications from the Google Play Store.

Camera

I was expecting the OnePlus 2 to beats the Lenovo camera my much, but I guess that was only 'hype'. The camera is fine, I took both phone at some random place during the day and captured a picture side by side and compared them. I am not able to tell which takes the most beautiful pictures except in yellow light where the OnePlus 2 is a bit better.

PS: The CyanogenOS camera application is much better than the one on OxygenOS.

Battery

The battery on the Lenovo Zuk Z1 is incredible ! With a 4100mAh built in battery, I was easily able to get through 2 full days of use where my OnePlus 2 barely make one full day (often have to give some juice to it at around 7pm)

Conclusion

The OnePlus 2 is still a great phone. If I had to choose between the Lenovo and the OnePlus 2, the choice would still be hard to make.

OnePlus 2 pros against the Lenovo :
The design is solid
The camera is a bit better
The notification slider.
Styleswap

Lenovo Zuk Z1 pros against the OnePlus 2 :
The fingerprint scanner is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G
The battery is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G
The ROM is MUCH better
Price a bit cheaper ! Paid 530$CAD (including taxes+shipping) where OnePlus 2 was (586.36$ CAD)
PS: CAD --> Canadian Dollars
USB Type-C 3.0 !! OTG USB-C Supported !

Hopefully this will make your choice easier if you do not wish to wait for an invitation

Just notice the Lenovo A7000 Plus/ K3 Note's Home key, Back key and Task key don't has back light.
Dunno if there is setting on it to turn on, or it really don't have it, just like the ASUS Zenfone series, all those key don't has back light.

Hey, hope you're able to help me out. smile.gif

Brand - Doesn't matter
Budget - < 1k
Specs. 2-3gb ram, 4k recording?
What you need in the phone - good battery life, good camera for video recording and photos, good screen resolution, lag free if possible.

Did my research and I was leaning towards Mi4, is there anything better that has better value for money?
Hope to hear from you soon smile.gif

Since this is your temporary phone no need to spend to much on it and get something below RM700. I would suggest Meizu M2, Meizu M2 note, Xiaomi Redmi note 2, or Huawei Honor 4X. Then use the rest of the budget to get a power bank to address your battery concern and a SD card for storage concern.

Since you used iphone before, don't expect too much from these phones.

Hi guys, need some opinions here.

1) Brand: LENOVO,HONOR

2) Budget: <1.3k

3) Specs:dual sim LTE,display 5.0-5.5 and battery more than 3600mah.

I'm considering HONOR 6 PLUS as it seems to be the best bang for the buck, but LENOVO VIBE P1 have 5000mah battery. What are your views here?

At that price point, kinda hard to get a really gud camera phone.

Can consider Meizu M2 Note. But imo, I think Redmi Note 2 is better than Meizu M2 Note.

Might wanna consider to top up for Mi4i. If u can take Lenovo into consideration, Lenovo K3 Note, Lenovo Vibe X2

For ur budget, Honor 7 is the best bang for buck.

U can also consider Honor 6 Plus, Lenovo Zuk Z1 (4100mah), Mi4C (3gb RAM, 32gb rom variant, 3080mah), Lenovo P70 (4000mah). As for Vibe P1, still waiting more review for it. So I dun quite recommend it yet.
