Hey thanks for the reply, actually I have a 23.7" AOC monitor but it's currently not working, so i might fix that and cut the budget for the monitor, maybe in the future i'll get a 27".

Hi all. Need some advice on the following specs:

Intel Xeon E3 1231 V3
MSI B85-G43
8GB RAM
Zotac GTX980 Reference
Samsung 850 Evo 250GB
WD Blue 1TB HDD
Superflower HX 600W Gold
Phanteks TC14PE air cooler

The mobo ok? I read some reviews that need to flash the BIOS and tweak the setting for the LAN to work properly. The PSU sufficient for this build?
Thank you!

Is that the MSI B85-G43 Gaming motherboard?Costs RM429...change it to Asrock H97-Pro4,should be around RM369.

The PSU uses capxon capacitors... doh.gif Change it to Seasonic M12II Evo 620W 80+ Bronze Fully Modular RM379.

You can change the SSD to Liteon 900S 256GB RM429,the currently best bang for buck SSD. brows.gif

The CPU cooler is overkill and expensive, change it to CM Hyper TX3 Evo RM94.34. nod.gif

Too low, maybe just a low-mid end GPU that can barely handle triple A titles at low-mid settings at playable frame rate.

You will need to change the PSU as well if you are getting a better card.

The best deal could be PowerColor R9 270 now, RM 498 from Techview but you will need a better PSU for that.

Hello, can someone advice me on upgrading my current rig? Budget around 1500

usage : gaming (mmos, casual games, I don't really play AAA games but if I do, I can settle for medium setting)

Phenom II 945
MSI 770-C75
HD7850
8GB DDR3
WD Blue 1TB
FSP Hexa 500W
Thermalright venomous x cpu cooler
1080p res

Parts that I am considering upgrading is processor and motherboard as both are the oldest part in my rig and to open up upgrade path maybe in 1-2 years.

Processor : i5 4690k or i7 4770k rm920 vs rm900
Mobo : there are a few asrock z97 mobo that fits my budget, gonna need recommendation on this. I prefer quality > features.

is it possible for my current psu to supply the required wattage if I OC the processor and my current gpu, just mild OC at stock voltage? same PSU from HERE

Thank you smile.gif

Thank you. I will go for this and as per your reply to others, I will upgrade the PSU to FSP Hexa+ 550W. I assume my motherboard will able to support this since the mobo already 3-4 years if not mistaken

Most modern motherboards support PCI-E, so yours should be just fine.

No need go for OC build if just purely gaming, FPS gain is small, some games don't even show any FPS gain if it is not CPU intensive. Get a i5 4460 + H81/B85 mobo will do the trick. Concentrate more on GPU, it is the main part when we talk about upgrade for gaming rig.

If possible, change it to at least B85 chipset mobo for more RAM slots, PCIE 3.0 and USB 3.0 front panel support. PSU is good to go but if you want to get a good quality one, change it to Seasonic M12II EVO 520W at RM 319.

OC is just as a hobby so I am inclined to go with 4690k.

About psu, will my current psu be able to handle i5 4460 + 7850 if I choose to go with that upgrade?

Thanks for the advice! smile.gif
