Yes, that's the biggest let down on dual air bag. My 15 years old car also have dual airbag and now in 2015 still dual airbag. Btw, what's make u think it is the best suv if it not because of the dual airbag.

Best suv in class. Tough interior, serious. I brought my dog. It shred the while interior, barf on my centre console, spilled some juice on the seats. Went to the car wash, mamak clean it. It looks like brand new again.

Other than the 2 airbag. The only annoying part is when raining. The roof sound like milo tin.

i believe it is a 5+2, not a 7 seater.
simply because the last row is not full-time legit seats, meaning they might not pass many stringent crash tests, hence they are known as "backup seat" to bypass these tests.

fortuner, sante fe, upcoming isuzu mu-x however are 7 seater SUV.

But still otr looks very less xtrail. I mean the new model. Maybe stil new. But the suv market seems totally dominated by cx5. I love suv but I also love the extra space where xtrail provide. Cx5 and crv might look better but the space is smaller. Santa Fe is too expensive.

Looks like Japan already launch xtrail hybrid on April 2015. Come std with Front Emergency Braking, hybrid engine boast to 20km/l and Nissanconnect. Normally if Japan launch when will Malaysia get the car? It seems that the current 2015 xtrail already in Japan for 16 months. Does this mean the hybrid is only coming in after a year to Malaysia. If a few months wait then I think worth to wait lor.

cannot compare because HR-V & Xtrail are 2 different segment (and engine capacity). makes more sense to compare to CR-V.

Just tested HRV. Hmm, obviously the xtrail is much bigger space either front or back. In fact I think it is also bigger than crv. I could be wrong
Crv interiors is more elegant I would say. But still I love the emergency seat idea for the xtrail.

the emergency seat is also why i chooses this car. else i would likely opt for cx5.

crv should be bigger than x trail. x trail is smaller like due to the new car design, more curvy.

To me, the CRV design is the most hedious. The new X-Trail is refreshing though. The CRV may be the best selling SUV in the world but what people don't realise is that these stats cannot be fully represented here. The CRV model you get here for example is not with the Earth Dreams engine unlike say the CX-5 (CBU) has the same Skyactiv engine and same tech as you get worldwide.

Exactly, it goes to show brand name and reputation is also important, hence the ugly cars with good rv will always have better sales despite not having good looks and latest engine tech

Btw, australia also didnt get the new earth dreams engine too

I would consider X-trail too if i was looking for a mid size SUV. How can CX5 or CRV compete with XTRAIL, i drove CX5 2.5 AWD before, it is a driver's car, passenger will suffer due to crampy interior. CRV is spacious, but the material is a let down (and pricey too)

Go for the X-TRAIL.. no regret! btw, have you try the FORESTER XT?

Nope, haven't try forester yet. What's the best deal can we get for xtrail? So far the best deal I come across is rm5k rebate with free leather seat for 2.0 xtrail. UnfortunatelY there is no more 3 years free maintenance anymore.

I wonder if there is any good deal on hari raya promo. I still can figure out to go for black or white. Lol

I think perhaps you misunderstood me a bit. The reason CRV does well worldwide (even though ugly in my opinion) is because they did offer decent quality and tech. At least the ones sold in the other countries. But our local CRV is anything but. That is why I caution people who blindly read reviews on international websites and take it in good faith that the car they buy here will be as what the international reviewers make them out to be. Instant runaway hit especially since Honda brandname is too powerful locally that people will simply put their thrust because of the brandname unfortunately.

Everybody has different preferences. Mazda cars are known to be crampy for rear passengers. While having a lot of rear legroom is always nice, small families usually find the CX-5 rear space sufficient. If they don't find the space adequate, then they would progress to something larger. Myself, I choose the Santa Fe because it was one of the very few affordable 7 seater SUVs available that time. The new X-Trail would have given me a hard time choosing if it was available back then but if given the chance to choose again, I'll still choose the Santa Fe and don't regret my choice because the turbo diesel is too addictive to ignore.

For me, the Forester design is a little boxy. The engine and tech is nice but it was a 5 seater just like the CX-5. Plus it's a CVT. sad.gif

Tell that to Previa. Rm270k also dual airbag. Lol. Even proton iriz 60k also get 6 airbag. Why they skim on airbag eh?? Is cutting airbag really help to save production cost a lot? Cannot brain.

yes, it would be perfect if they have the 6 airbags. the worst part its not even an upgrade options.

i mean if the international version of x trail already have the 6 airbags design, its basically a ready part which can be opt in anytime. even if they would not want to include in as standard, they could have give the option to add in though.

but malaysian x trail really skip out quite a few parts like power boot & the panaromic roff & etc.

I believe TC had made a big mistake by introducing Sylphy with 6 airbags. Even with such specs, it still low sale volume for this model.

TC should at least cut 2 airbags from Sylphy and add it to X-trail. (This is just my silly suggestion, it may not happen).

May be there is possibility to add the airbags when TC introduce the facelift version, but this may take at least 1.5 years.

for x-trail, a lot of potential sui yee buyers so they give 2 air bags to gain max. profit ...

whats wrong with CVT? 250ps + 350nm, i don't see the santa fe can beat this figure if you are talking about engine performance. i do agree that the design is BOXY and 5 seaters but other than that, i can't find any plus point for santa fe.

just my 2 cents.

You are entirely entitled to your 2 cents. While you may not find the 7 seater and bigger space as plus points for the Santa Fe, I do. While the 190ps on the turbo diesel might not measure up to the 240ps on the XT, it makes up more for it in the 436Nm torque that kicks in as low as 1800 rpm to 2500 rpm where it matters most in day to day driving.

Say what's the fuel consumption on the XT?

My opinion is if u want buy the 2.5 4wd u can go ahead, but if u choose 2.0 2wd version,u can try to see whether u have other choice in market or not. Why?because 2.0 already low power, plus it is a cvt then will totally make the pick up lousy and the car is heavy.

Yes, It's easy just change all the interior wiring harness. Cost in the region of RM10k to RM20k, is it worth it just for a power tailgate. You might as well throw in the curtain / side airbags, amp and extra speakers.

That's expensive lol. Oh well, if Nissan have the option to buy either 2 or 6 airbags, wouldn't mind opt for 6 airbags with more premium price. After all the slot is there just need to put it in.

You don't have to get a Hybrid to have these feature and 6 airbags. UK X-trail is an optional package or top of the range come as standard.

UK safety really top notch. Here we are debating 2 airbag and 6 airbags, UK pukka get all those far fetch safety for us.

Nissan Safety Shield packages comprising:
Forward Emergency Braking
Driver Attention Alert
Traffic Sign Recognition
Lane Departure Warning
Blind Spot Warning
Moving Object Detection
High Beam Assist
Chassis Control
Full LED headlamps which consume 50 per cent of the power of previous Xenon lamps
Around View Monitor with Park Assist
New NissanConnect with smartphone app integration

At the heart of the new Qashqai lies accessible technology. A suite of innovations which, when combined, form a unique package of driver aids which not only significantly enhance safety and convenience, but deliver exceptional value to Nissan drivers.

Nissan Safety Shield is a collection of features designed to enhance the safety of occupants in line with Nissan's ongoing vision towards zero accidents, a sentiment underlined by the company's commitment to produce commercially viable autonomous vehicles by 2020.

In the new Qashqai, Safety Shield technologies include the following features:

Forward Emergency Braking
By scanning the road ahead using a built-in radar system, the Qashqai delivers three levels of assistance. First is an audible warning, alerting the driver if the gap to the car in front is closing. Secondly, if the driver does not react, the brakes are automatically partially applied. Finally if the gap is still closing, the brakes will be applied harder if necessary.

Driver Attention Alert
The new Qashqai gets to know you so that it can tell when you are getting drowsy. After learning your driving style, the system will monitor driving inputs, showing a dashboard alert if steering becomes erratic, indicating the driver should take a break.

Traffic Sign Recognition
Helping new Qashqai drivers to both stay safe and within the law, speed limit signs are automatically read by the front-facing camera and displayed to the driver. This function works across Europe, regardless of national sign typography. It even recognises that some countries enforce a weather dependent lower speed limit if it's raining, so both dry and wet weather limits are displayed to the driver.

Lane Departure Warning
A great feature for multi-lane highways, Lane Departure Warning detects if the car is starting to drift out of lane. Advanced computer programming detects road markings allowing the Qashqai to determine if it is drifting out of position. If it does, and the driver has not operated the indicators, a warning is given to the driver to correct their road position.

Blind Spot Warning
Nissan's system uses the rear view Around View Monitor camera to detect vehicles in the hidden blind spot areas on both sides of the Qashqai. If a vehicle is detected in either blind spot, a discreet warning light illuminates in the glass of the door mirror. If the driver indicates to change lanes and the system detects a vehicle in the danger area, the light flashes and an audible warning is given.

Moving Object Detection
The Qashqai is available with front and rear parking sensors which deliver audible warnings to the driver when manoeuvring as well as a visual display via the Qashqai's dashboard combimeter. On top of this functionality, the Qashqai also benefits from an enhanced version of the existing model's Around View Monitor ‘helicopter view' parking aid. When stationary, if something moves into the area covered by the four cameras the system will give an audible warning and highlight the area in which the moving object is detected. Mounted on the tailgate and having a fish-eye lens, the rear wide view AVM camera has a sweep of vision in excess of 180 degrees, giving it an unparalleled field of vision at the back of the car. Images from the camera are displayed on the new, larger seven-inch NissanConnect screen.

High Beam Assist
A high resolution camera combined with advanced software has led to a sophisticated automatic high and low headlight beam function for the new Qashqai. The system optimises the use of the headlamps in order to provide the maximum amount of light possible for any driving scenario.

Safety Shield is just the start of the Qashqai's technology story. Other highlights include:

Chassis Control
Using Nissan's very latest ride and handling know-how, Chassis Control enhances both ride and handling, learning from the development of a vast variety of features from past Nissan and Infiniti models. While the Vehicle Dynamic Control system (VDC) continues to correct severe traction loss, at lower speeds with lower forces the Active Trace Control applies specific braking force to each wheel to correct the course of the Qashqai when cornering, giving a more dynamic feel without interfering with the driving experience. What's more, when driving over undulating surfaces, Active Ride Control applies subtle braking to individual wheels to deliver flatter body control enhancing comfort for all occupants.

Around View Monitor with Park Assist
Automatically measuring the size of an available parallel parking space, Nissan's Park Assist actively steers into the space with the driver controlling forward and reverse motion. The system can also park in car park bays, with the driver benefitting from the helicopter view provided by AVM to guide them through the process.

New NissanConnect
In-keeping with new Qashqai's appetite for innovation, the new crossover will be the first model to go on sale with the new NissanConnect system. Now with a seven-inch touchscreen, NissanConnect has evolved to offer Smartphone connectivity to keep owners in touch with the outside world wherever their journey takes them. In the future it will have access to a range of apps covering music, social networking, entertainment and travel through a large, seven-inch colour touch screen. The new NissanConnect builds upon the recently introduced Google® search and Send To Car functions, which allow drivers to plan a trip at home.

The system includes Bluetooth audio streaming and mobile phone integration as well as Aux-in and USB slots along with DAB radio.

In addition to the main NissanConnect screen, the driver also benefits from an additional display within the instrument panel. It's one of the most advanced meter displays yet seen with a five-inch TFT colour display incorporating no fewer than 12 graphic displays accessible on rotation. Customisable to display different Qashqai body colours, the meter offers advice and warnings covering functions including average and actual speeds, fuel economy, turn-by-turn navigation instructions, audio content, traffic sign recognition, Nissan Safety Shield, Chassis Control, eco driving advice, as well as tyre pressure information and torque distribution settings in 4WD mode. Additionally, the driver can customise steering feel, lighting, auto light sensitivity, wiper and locking settings, plus drive computer contents.

This is an old story. I test drive the 2.0 and 2.5. Decided on 2.5 as their consumption was about the same. I'm talking about year 2005 laugh.gif

CRV? Nope. I was told that X-Trail can change to 4W drive at any speed, but the CRV could only lock at speed below 60km/j shocking.gif... This is something Honda will never tell you.

Before that I searched in Internet for the one with least problem. That time BMW X5 so much complains wink.gif

I think you've made your decision to some extend smile.gif

Yeah it won't be like swapping a light bulb. I mean like a conversion. HID Xenon conversion will be the only option then

We talking about LED low beam like the OEM system not aftermarket DRL LED. These HID light wouldn't as bright as the OEM LED low beam. Also you can't just buy a left hand drive version. Because the beam cutter is for right lane traffic. Just leave them alone it's quite important part of the car.

Bro, the 3 years free service is only available for early bird who booked their car before launching but TC swaps it with free leather seat for 2.0 or navi set for 2.5

main reason i bought x trail is 3 rows + fresh & elegance look, of course the setback is lack of airbags as compared to CRV. Well, it depends on what you want, your money your choice smile.gif

I test drive both and cx5 too. Well in conclusion for me, love cx5 design hate the space, love crv interior and for Xtrail, love the interior, space of 5+2.

I still hope for the maintenance free like maybe 2 years? Like currently Nissan Serena Hubrid offer 2 years.

CX5 is a SUV for the driver rather than passenger.
CRV is good in all aspect with its track record. No doubt.
As for the X Trail, majority love its 5+2 seats. If you have 2-3 small kids, and go out with parents on weekend, X Trail is indeed a good option. Not so bulky compare to MPV and look younger and sportier in SUV.

typically, more discount or freebies during Hari raya promotion, worth the wait if you are not in hurry smile.gif

Exactly! I have a 2 years old kids and another one coming 1 years. The extra seat really come in handy. When balik kampung my kids can seat behind when they are older and my parent or in law can seat 2nd row.

- yeah, once the festive season is over, then more rebates i believe will be thrown out.

- i'm interested in getting either of these 3 colors ; white, blue or silver as the shah alam SA told me that for black and green the stock wont be as much as the rest ( got some waiting period )

I don't know about you guys, but when I looked at the + 2 seats they are really really small and I don't think anyone would put their kids there. the seats are positioned above the back wheel arc. Making the floor pan for the back seat really high. Putting anyone back there with the car full would be rather cluster phobic.

just my 2 cents. They should have made it a proper seat.

my 5 and 3 years old kids like to sit at the 3rd row....well, 3rd row is meant for small kid, not even for teenager....

ADAD shows:
1) Fuel economy when accelerate
2) Chasis control for engine auto break & traction control
3) Warning : door, fuel, airbag, key detection (when key is not detecable within range)
4) Audio info
5) Setting for driver assistance, clock, meter setting, vehicle setting, maintenance, alarm (temperature, timer & phone)
6) trip info, timer, avg speed and range to empty tank

personally, i like the chasis control where invidual break will apply at different magnitude during sharp cornering to ensure you remain on the same lane and bumpy road for comfort purpose.

The all view monitor is the coolest thing that i love the most, very helpful when you park your car or pass through an alley or even cliff? Hahaha....

the navi set cost RM3.8k (during my time, now not sure) is not worth the money..but i upgrade the original fabric seat (that time no RM1 deal for leather seat) and tint it with llumar diamond 6 smile.gif

I'm worried that if i take the other ICE option from outside it might cause warranty issues.

bro, the navi set from TC is nothing special except larger screen and gps only but cost 3.8k. For me, waze is still the best FOC navi smile.gif

I couldn't felt the chassis control when I test drive even the salesman try to tell me. He said couldn't feel one but it is there. Lol.

Nice ADAD system though the UK version much more function than ours as they have tyre pressure monitoring, navi etc.

Btw 2.0 is halogen which is yellow while the drl is white. Won't it look erm strange?

Tested this monster suv. Really look big n muscular from outside. But due to this the space inside is spacious n comfortable for passengers at the second row compare with cx5 n sportage where my knees are cramped n hitting the front seat when sitting at the back. Pick up is quite slow as I tested the 2.0 model.

This suv should suit a family man like me where I need to ferry my both parents n my pregnant wife everyday.
Approached by a SA n being briefed about the price.
OTR RM 141,067 for 2.0.
Discount RM 2000 and if choose fabric seat instead of leather another RM 1500 discount. So total discount RM 3500.

Feel hesitate to book as so little discount n none free gift are offered. Am waiting for raya promotion, if any. Appeeciate if any S.A can offer me better price.

Which SA is that. He is so not interested to do a deal or hunger for own profit. Now easily about rm5k discount and if fabric seat then add another 1.5k. Total 6-7k

Might sound a bit harsh here. But someone can buy your whole family of 3 generations for RM3.5K including your unborn child. Find some thing a lot safer, don't fall in a big corp profit trap.

No doubt, 2 airbags is the disadvantages of this SUV as compared to others 6 airbags but bro, airbag is not the only factor to consider when potential owner purchase a car.

Matey I would put family safety first before a dollar. Don't get me wrong it's a fantastic SUV I have to admit I like the design as well but what the local dealer done is just unacceptable especially it's suppose to be a family runner.

Sorry still sticking to my point. You just have to pray it wouldn't roll over or getting t-bone by some idiot. Get other with side airbag especially SUV. Even if it a Bentley SUV it's just not on with 2 airbags in 2015.

Imagine

Erm, actually that guy have a point u see. Yes of course safety doesn't depend on airbags only but additional airbags from TC will be great. I mean the car already come equipped with airbags space but just that TC decided to take it out. If 2.5 they throw in 6 airbag, I would have take 2.5 myself. Or maybe give as an option if we would like to add on etc.

Btw, how much discount u get for your 2.5 and how long is to wait for the car?

Test drove the 2.0 and 2.5L. Both were very good, but of course the 2.5L was more responsive and fun to drive. The Chasis Control really works. I didnt pull the trigger due to the following issues which I hope will be changed in the facelift version:
- Foot brake. I prefer hand or electronic parking brake
- Tonneau cover color is brown instead of black so doesnt match the interior
- 2 air bags. I'm hoping for at least 6
- Fuel gauge is analogue. Digital would have been better

add-on: again i am just helping... to share joy of own a Nissan biggrin.gif i luv my sylphy driving it so responsive(control,turn/reverse) performance is good.. meanwhile the SPORT mode feel like turbo charge lolz(no i overstate that but is boost!) consume fuel quick on sport mode, Noise is good absorber speed bump and pud hole well.. very comfotable driving... icon_rolleyes.gif

Checked out in penang. Only 4k rebate wt free leather seat. If 7k rebate, i would have booked it on the spot.

2 airbags is really disappointing but comparing with cx-5, i am still more keen on the xtrail. Teana is my first choice but wife cant drive it. I have the new sylphy which is underpowered but suitable for ladies so I am not bothered bce i dont drive it often . But it comes wt 6 airbags too which is great comparing to altis.

On standby mode. See the best offer. Maybe we can group buy.

If your budget is for a 5+2 SUV under RM160k there aren't much choices either Pajero Sport, Fortuner, Santa Fe or XC90.

For a family guy needing 7 seats sometimes I understand we don't wanna drive around in a MPV like an aunty.
7 seats aren't for use all the time, either as small children use, or when packing the family in for a drive to a nearby restaurant during festive season, or fetching colleagues to lunch nearby.......if this is your idea for 7 seat use then fine....u don't need a real MPV with full time 7 seats.

Those people commenting 7 seats not for long journeys are just commenting for the sake of saying something while showing their lack of knowledge. If you're going to balik kampung you'll need all the boot space as possible so you won't be ferrying 7 people back to the kampung, if wanna fetch 7 people where to put the luggage? On a Thule? Well that would be extra cost and impractice if you're fetching more than 1 lady laugh.gif

Tell me which other SUV have 7 seater?
Toyota Fortuner or Ford Everest?
Let's not talk about Kimchi cars..
Honda CRV, Mazda CX-5 is 5 seater.
*
Similar SUV with 5+2 seats are Pajero Sport, Fortuner, Santa Fe, and XC90.

CRV and CX5 is in the same class but CRV is abit long in the tooth, they going to replace it with an all new model soon. I think that design/look era is gone. Looks too boxy for 2015 even with the latest facelift. CX5 design is more current with curves and concaves all around but it is starting to look quite boring and ordinary with too many on the road.

X-Trail still looks fresh and there aren't many on the road now. Looks a bit like a X1, Murano and Infinity.....of course if it were to be parked beside those cars it would be the cheapest and look the cheapest too but it is the cheapest the buy.

Nissan sound proof is pretty crappy nowadays.
I suppose we have to do some aftermarket sound proofing.
When it rains I can hear the tire noise off the wet surface from the tire well pumping into the cabin from the front and rear.

The biggest irony is that even though they say that the 3rd row seats are for children, you're not allowed to use child seats on the 3rd row. Just check the Euro NCAP report for the Xtrail. Also on that report, it got the 5 star rating with 6 airbags. So when a salesman gives you some bullcr*p about the fantastic NCAP rating, you should know it does not apply to our Malaysian spec.

Manage to contact 2 s.a in kl for the price. Standard rebate 4k..1k extra from one of the s.a for so call agong bday promotion. So price around 137k for 2.0..
Didn't go for in depth nego as I worry might offend the potential s.a if I were to buy from him.
Did mentioned that 7k rebate was being offered as I saw from Bro Unseen83 reply here. The s.a said high rebate is just a number deception. It might take out the insurance of 4k so that 8-9k rebate can be offered.
How true is that??sigh..

I dun think that will trick us. We clearly know the price of say 2.0 is rm136k and if otr is about rm140k ish. Hence the rebate either he minus from 136k or 140k doesn't matter.

Yes this is what TC told me. Void warranty. Haii but the price of rm3,800 is really expensive some more if plus the 5.0" lcd they take out it easily cost a total of rm5k. Zzz

3 years free service is much better as it cost more.

My time was under 3- year free service promo. I spent RM2k+ for leather seat (mine is 2.0 model), llumar tint RM2k+ and reserve RM2k for paint coating.

Ask yourself a question : Is the 8' navi set a must have item or good to have as you can use the FOC waze...

No sin of having it if it's given free..hehe..but would be hard to get free leather seat n 8" for individual buyer..perhaps a group buy would have a better bargain power...anyone?
I have locked my interest on this 2.0 model..just waiting for a good deal..

N btw Bro isobutylene, how's ur experience of this monster after months of driving it? Any comment?
The leather seat ok? Sweat when drive for long distance? Saw a thread in lyn complaining about leather seat..

Just got my 2.5 yesterday - booked on 23/05, super efficient SA biggrin.gif

Some thoughts on the 2.5:
1. The audio is pretty bad for a car at this price; or perhaps i'm comparing with the Kia(s) i have

2. When turn on ECO mode, the best FC i got was 6.9litre/100km - from Puchong to KL and vice-versa, via MEX

3. ECO mode really drives like turtle. need to press hard to make it to 110km/h

4. Kind of powerful, 80-140km/h with a breeze

5. Tried the voice command thing, doesnt really work too well. need to test more.

6. Was reading through the manual, i think a lot of applications are missing sad.gif

7. Suspension not the best in town (i guess), kinda bumpy/noisy

I had a test drive on the 2.0 too, really feels kind of under power. Once i sat on the 2.5, loved the feeling and power smile.gif

So guys, any idea if TC can change a better audio system for XTrail? I think changing outside would void the warranty ya sad.gif

This morning was able to command it to show the "Help" menu...will test it later smile.gif

hmm..during the test drive there were 3 person including me. Maybe it's because i test drove the 2.5 first, then followed by the 2.0 - that's why i felt underpower for the 2.0.

But what's definite was that 2.0 needs to step harder to make it move; and i mean move, not vroom vroom. 2.5 step a bit, you'll get vroom vroom.

2.5 comes with the leather seats and the 8" panel, though my SA said the 8" panel is deducted from the total price.

Havent got the chance to do long journey in a hot day yet, but I drove from Cyber to KL via MEX, seems ok

I had 3M Crystalline (the one with 97% HR), so i dont feel particularly hot even after lunch just now.

Yea, the aircond is kinda strong smile.gif

Freebies ah, 1 umbrella LOL. But i did get a RM6k discount

I like SUV for its visibility and feel more secured attributed to higher sitting position as compared to normal sedan car but when come to fuel consumption, really not comparable to my previous wira and vios lo...my best record is 13.7km/l but average 7.8km/l (i'm a typical 9 to 6 salaried worker who stuck in traffic jam everyday)

As for the seat, seriously i couldnt feel the power of 'zero gravity', for me it is just like a normal seat lo...

Bro, what is the main purpose for u to buy a SUV? Majority including myself choose X Trail is because of the 3 rows seat (SUV is more sporty and younger look compare to MPV), and of course, a fresh look compare to CX-5.

please dont get me wrong, for me, CX5 is a well designed SUV with its signature KODO motion...

Welcome to the club bro...you must have a very high standard on sound quality smile.gif for me, it is ok je...hehe

seriously, your best FC at 14l / 100km is not that bad la...my 2.0 average is 12l/ 100km...i never go off load so opted 2.0 is sufficient already for a family man like me wink.gif

wow you guys really soft footed. mine is avg 10.6 ltr / 100km for the 2.0.

thoughts on the car after 5000km with it.

1) Eco mode, - super sluggish. i usually will not have it on when carrying passengers. 2 person still ok.

2) when eco mode not on, the rev during the first few gears tend to climb quite high. mayb im heavy footed but it still tends to go 4k rpm easily. the power at that range is nice but tend to be on the noisy side

3) sound proofing wise is ok for me, cruising at highway have not much wind noise. mostly hearing the tires noise more. can be noisy during rain though. like hitting milo tin when raining

4) comfort is still good at highways. but quite jumpy on uneven roads. leather seat i feel nothing special. mayb it could be better if the bottom was a little tad longer. my thigh sometime feel as though it have not much support.
with good tinting, the leather wont feel hot, so i guess its fine in that area.

5) parking camera is awesome, helps a lot, even when going through traffic jams (easily weave through the traffic)

Great reviews everyone.

I just booked mine. Yeah, the 3 yr free maintenance and service package was more worth it but now no more. I had to get a SUV, so it's either CRV/CX5 or XTrail. HRV/ASX a bit cramp for a family guy like me.

Family doesn't like the too straight and no back aircond vent of the CX5 so no go.

CRV was the preferred option and almost booked it but somehow got itchy and test drove XTrail - love it very much. Got the family to test drive together and the consensus was it's good too. So, XTrail it is for me being having more power pickup compared to CRV.

Chose 2.0 as I don't usually floor the pedal and it feels just right for me - for you all prospectors please test drive yourself first, it's important.

Shop around, normal rebate for 2.0 is free leather and 5k rebate in klang valley. Outside Klang Valley got better offer so placed my booking.

Loan opted for unconventional flexi (similar to housing type).

Now just wait for car delivery rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

P/s: There was a survey on CRV/XTrail/CX5 on lowyat forum and I chose CRV..yeah, I was very close to buying one

5.0k rebate + free leather + free vkool tint/smart tag/carpet/door visor from JB and 5.5k rebate + free leather + free vkool tint/smart tag/carpet/door visor from Ktn.

If don't want the free leather additional 1k rebate (or is it 1.5k?)

If don't want the tint another 1k additional rebate.

Both side car can be arranged for pickup from KL.

Bro I think depends entirely on you. If you want to buy now, shop around. If don't need now, newer versions will be available in 1-2 years' time.

Year end normally got good offer but please bear in mind X-Trail is new 2015 car. There should be more rebate if book car in January for previous year's car.

I also initially waited CRV from last year November till facelift 2015 CRV comes out in Feb and wait and wait for more discounts and finally I bought but bought another car.

Bottom line is can wait, wait.

perhaps u r right. but now i might need to re look into the 2.5 model. totally hate halogens after been using led lamps.

really not easy buying a nissan nowadays.. this none that none....

but the 2.5 x-trail is rm163k (if 6k discount then only rm157k) whereas the 2.5 cx 5 facelift is rm172k. (15k diff)
so its still worth to get the x-trail rclxms.gif

from what the SA told me, even if we book now and later there is a new promotion after raya, we are still entitled to follow the new promotion if we choose to.. so long as we have not taken the car.

As for the best offer before or after raya, the other way to look at it is SA may already hit their target during raya, so they may not be so desperate after that (busy with delivery).. plus the later we get the car, the closer it is to a year end car.. my 2sen tongue.gif

Hi all,

I got my new x-trail 2 months ago (Apr 2015), the 2.5 version with 3 yrs free maintenance package and 3k rebate. comparing my offer with u guys', i really lost out but anyway, money has been paid so no point going through the rebates. Reason why I got this is because I'm in East Malaysia and roads are a lot more bumpy here with a lot of potholes, plus 2.5 for better power when driving to other towns because our highway is single lane only, so overtaking requires going to the opposite traffic lane, and power is very important. And 4wd because this is sabah.

My review so far on this car:

1. Exterior: Looks sporty and modern, suitable for younger generations as compared to the old x-trail. Especially like the LED daytime running lights. So far I saw on the streets, white looks the best, and probably easier to maintain.

2. Interior: Looks very modern and looks to have the best interior comparing the same class of SUV (e.g. CRV, CX-5 etc). I had the opportunity to use the 5" navi for 2 weeks before upgrading to the 7" navi. For me it doesn't make a big difference. The 5" navi can play music from USB, Iphone, or even through bluetooth. Basic features are covered except navigation. the 7" navi added the feature of gps navigation, and video playback from pendrive. I tried a video with it but it is not enjoyable as the playback was a bit laggy, but doesnt bother me coz not planning to watch video through that. Other features are mostly the same with the smaller navigation unit.

3. Performance: No issue with power and acceleration from standstill or from cruising is swift and responsive with the auto gearbox. Can switch to manual mode to further improve acceleration by downshifting manually. My fuel consumption averages 7km/L for the first month, just done my first service last week and now slowly improving to 7.4km/L. 80% drove on urban roads with a lot of traffic lights, as less highway here compared to West Msia. Best FC reached 12.8km/L, worst tried before 4.0km/L but that includes waiting in car for like 15-20mins.

4. Spacing: I feel comfortable with the driver seat, especially the adjustable lumbar support, which can help reduce tiredness around ur waist after a long drive. But passenger side only can adjust forward reverse, and the back. Rear seats are specious enough for adults, and the third row, cant be bothered with that as I see this as a five seater. Third row are basically useless. Boot space is good, managed to fit in two medium-large sized luggage plus another two cabin luggage comfortably after removing the tonneau cover. Love how they have a space to store the tonneau cover below the boot.

5. Dislikes: There is one thing that annoys me about this car is the cabin noise. Of course from my 2 months of driving this car, road surfaces played a big role in cabin noise. In really smooth bitumen, the car is very quiet even at high speed, but at slightly rougher bitumen, the noise starts to get to a level that I would deemed too noisy. I have changed my tyres from the original Dunlop Grandtrek ST-30 to Michelin Latitude Tour HP but it has little effect to the tyre noise. And when going through potholes, it is a bit bumpy. Currently my tyre pressure is at 30psi, but will try lowering it to 26-28psi to see whether there's any improvement. According to the user manual, tyres should be at 30-33 psi if not wrong.

Hope this helps those who haven't buy the new x-trail to make an informed decision. and hopes xtrail owners review their new cars too! feel free to ask me anything about the car.

Heard SA said the 3 years free maintenance package worth around 5.5k, so yours were 5.5+3 = 8.5k.

At this moment, 5.5+3(free leather) = 8.5k...so it's more or less the same, just different way of looking at it nod.gif

I dun think they will offer this price if not because of the event. Total sales today when I am there at around 3pm is 140+ units of Nissan car. Hence they are able to give such huge rebate.

Waiting list for 2.0 Xtrail is 2 months.

Isuzu mux is a truck-based SUV and its interior material is not as good as X-Trail especially the central console..just my personal opinion.

are you really willing to let go your 'favourite' SUV just because of 1-2k price different?

Oh, the SA also mention free umbrella and full tank. Haha

When buying car or anything always wear a no emotion face mask go. Event if the SA offering the best deal u ever have just act like selamba and said is it? I thought could be higher. Once u desperado, gone liau. Say see how first etc etc. haha
Alway walk off the deal even it is attractive. Just said you will consider and come back to them. They could be giving their final discount for your consideration. If they said ok, then u know is their best deal. If u wan that deal then come back to them say tommorow?
Some say cheapskate but it works u know.

Yeah, they have like all the features and th safety are in another league. But I did a rough calculation on UK xtrail conversation rate and the price of the basic xtrail like us is about the same. If we were to have all those features it may cost like a Murano price.

Yup and if xtrail being price say at rm200k, I am sure nobody gonna buy it even with full features. TC took out Murano as the sales is super bad. Rm270k.

But still I hate TC for taking out 4 airbags. Celaka

Looks like 2.0 is the more popular choice...

What are we doing with this list anyway? I should be getting my car by end of this month...

No one going for the Hong Leong MACH Cruise Control Car Loan? It is similar to housing loan whereby the interest is calculated by the remainder/balance....something like flexi housing loan.

Don't be put off by the 4-plus interest rate because at the end of the day the amount of interest paid is very close to conventional hire purchase.

Pros:
- Additional money can be put into drive account to reduce interest (capped at 30%). Eg. a 100k-plus 9yrs loan with a 30%money into drive account can save >10k in interest over conventional loan. This additional money can be withdrawn when cash is needed.
- No lock in period...meaning if strike lottery can fully settle loan anytime

Cons:
- RM 10 charge every month
- So far only MACH Hong Leong ada...I think

Not sure whether I missed other points, but those are the important ones I guess... icon_rolleyes.gif

Yup. I booked X Trail before launching and got it befofe GST. As for the 2.45% rate, i settled my car loan & housing loan at PBB earlier, so i suppose track record is the key factor for pricing 😀

I dunno about you all but I'm quite calculative when it comes to money. And from what I can see here you all seems to care about interest rate here too...

2.50%, 2.55%, 2.60%...the interest savings is not that much when compared against flexi type loan.

Conventional loans factored in the interest, i.e. 7 or 9 yrs interest is already factored into your loan from day one. If you wanna settle faster you may get some rebate.

Flexi type loan if you got extra money, even 50 - 100 a month will influence your total interest paid ....easily outweight your interest savings whether it's 0.1% different (2.50% from 2.60%)

I'm sure you all have heard of flexi loans vs conventional loans. Think about it.

I'm just sharing in here, it's basically up to you all nod.gif
