Asian shares edge down but poised for weekly rise QUOTE Asian shares edged down slightly but were still on track for a solid weekly rise, as investors awaited more U.S. data later in the session for clues on the timing of the U.S. Federal Reserve's interest rate hike.
MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan was slightly lower, but still poised to gain about 0.6 percent for the week. Japan's Nikkei stock index added 0.5 percent, set for a 1.5 percent weekly rise. http://www.theedgemarkets.com/my/article/a...se?type=Markets

QUOTE(David83 @ May 15 2015, 08:22 PM) They're denying it Malakoff: We're not in talks with 1MDB on any potential dealKUALA LUMPUR (May 15): To allay investors' concern that it was buying assets from 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB), Malakoff Bhd, which was relisted on Bursa Malaysia today, reiterates that it is "not in talks with 1MDB about any potential deals". In a statement after market close, the independent power producer (IPP) reiterated its stance as a a news report by Bernama earlier today had said Malakoff was keen on acquiring debt-ridden 1MDB's power assets that are held by the latter's unit Edra Energy Global Bhd has dampened Malakoff's share price performance on its maiden trading day. Malakoff said it strongly denies the report which stated that it was considering the buy and urged Bernama to retract the piece, which it termed "a misrepresentation". URL: http://www.theedgemarkets.com/my/article/m...-potential-dealactually the news already out since last week.. not from today bernama report.. only today it become big issue & asking to retract.. why last week didn't denied.. only today when IPO performance quite bad, they denied / ask to retract the news report / misquote

QUOTE(David83 @ May 15 2015, 10:18 PM) Outlook for US economy looks dim: Consumer Sentiment in U.S. Plunged in May by Most in Two Yearsonsumer confidence unexpectedly fell in May by the most in more than two years as Americans’ views on the economy dimmed. The University of Michigan preliminary index of sentiment dropped to 88.6, the lowest since October, from 95.9 in April. The 7.3 point decrease was the largest since December 2012. The outcome was lower than the lowest estimate of 68 economists surveyed by Bloomberg. News that the world’s largest economy stalled last quarter shook Americans’ outlook, while the tick up in fuel costs since early March also contributed to the gloomier perceptions. While slightly lower than in the prior month, households still held relatively upbeat views on incomes, a sign spending will be sustained. China stocks rally on reform hope, Hong Kong tracks mainland higher QUOTE China stocks bounced sharply off one-week lows on Tuesday, cheered by Beijing's 2015 guidelines for economic reform that prioritize further opening of the country's capital market and the restructuring of state enterprises.
The guidelines, which target areas including the Shenzhen-Hong Kong stock connect, the initial public offering (IPO) system and yuan globalisation, revived investor interest in blue-chip stocks, said Tian Weidong, analyst at Kaiyuan Securities in Xian. http://www.theedgemarkets.com/my/article/c...er?type=Markets
