Hi.. I've just installed Sonoff 3 gang switch. Sharing neutral wire from aircon incoming for now. Question is I need to turn on aircon switch in order for Sonoff working. Am I missing any step here? Should I connect another wire from Sonoff to aircon neutral out going as well?
*
i think u connect to the wrong netral.. if u have to turn on AC switch to make the sonoff work, that neutral must be going to AC not DB box.

try the other neutral

My Sonoff Basic r3 arrived. Look smaller than the basic. Advantage over basic is the easy short pin to flash the firmware. Instead solder.

Wow... Nice..
I'm thinking to use sonoff dual for my basic water filter (hot cold).
Use as timing/schedule function.
Power consumption : 300w hot / 80w cold

But seems need to solder the in out cable. Its using 'clip' type connector.. which im not confident with that power consumption.

I have no confident with the clip type connector for running heater and compressor.
Also the sonoff will put inside the water filter.. better do 1 time.

Not a problem at all for that screw connector.

The toaster run at 475W minimum setting. Test it run at an hr continues.

Make sure secure tight the screw and correct size wire.

I have those connectors that just clamp lock the wire able to handle 32A.
*
If screw type maybe ok. This 1 just push clamp type.
Anyway, ive soldered cable direct below the connector.

Haven't 'install' yet inside the water filter.

Also browsing around found nicer remote for portable usage inside house.. 😁

Actually solder is not a secure type of connection. Specially for high current.

Unless the copper wire secure tight around terminal and solder.

As you know solder point will melt and weaken around 180°c-200°c. Running high current will cause the solder point, get warm or hot. That will weaken the solder and finally disconnect the wire.

Also in a vibration and alot of movement. Soldering is also not suitable for joining. It will crack.

That's why you don't see high tension/current wiring join with solder.

Some connector like Wago, is using clamp connect. I use alot and it can stand for 32A.

That remote antenna look old school. biggrin.gif
*
Hm..
Looks like i have to solder screw type connector for better connection. 🤔

I wish can find the remote but without that old skool antena.. 🤣

*
If using that std box inside the wall, i dont think can fit.
Im also interested in that mini.. but seen my switch 'inner' wall box.. like no hope.. unless drill/knock more inside wall.

Anybody using SONOFF L1 Smart Strip Light?
Just wanna confirm
1. it comes with adhesive tape?
2. it mentioned can be cut every 10cm along the cut marks, without damaging the rest strip. But how to use the rest strip, where power comes?
3. how's you guys application? in living room, bedroom? the usage sounds fancy, change color, dim it.... not sure how to make it useful.
*
Not sure about sonoff 1. But generic type, can be cut also.. got marking where to cut..
And for the extra 'rest' strip, can be use back but need soldering..

Dear All,

I need some  icon_question.gif  and advice on simple automation to turn on/off lights at home. My electrician suggested to install Hager timer to be installed next to my light switch, but i find this option bulky and intrusive and the unit will stick out. I am considering installing the din type timer at the DB but this will control 1 group of lights, since the wiring is in grouping.... not sure if this is a good idea.

Alternatively, I could install those wifi smart light switches. I saw the TP Link HS200 light switches and really like the design - clean and simple  biggrin.gif  the only drawback is that the light switches are US size and not the standard switches in my home  bangwall.gif

Need some advice here whether to go for analogue time or smart switches.

If analogue timer, what brands? should I install at the DB?
Any brands apart from TP Link if going for smart switches?

Hope you guys can help or share your experience. Thanks  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
if just timing function, can use sonoff basic, just set the timing using app, or sonoff rf (extra can use rf remote) .
analog switch still can use to turn on/off light, but if switch turn off, auto ON timing will not work.
the device can install inside lighting body/frame.

My house lighting and wall plug neutral is not sharing the same elcb. If the light neutral is connected to the wall plug neutral, it will trip both the elcb. My point is do a trial first before investing in all the switches.
*
ur wiring must be new.. separated elcb for lightings and plugs unsure.gif

QUOTE(blancpain4470 @ Nov 1 2019, 12:15 AM)
Thanks. I am getting my electrician to look at this. In my case I am not pulling from wall plug but literally the switch next to it. Most should be same elcb but will check

user posted image
*
u have to check 1st, if u got 2 elcb, mostly separated lightings and plugs neutral circuit. 20A switch will not use same neutral with lightings switch.
if 1 elcb and sharing neutral.. enjoys.. laugh.gif

How many elcb u have?
Maybe ur ac also on separated circuit?

Ur elcbs may have different tripping current.

Guys, I'm getting the Aqara wall switch with Neutral or Zero line model to replace my current AC switch. The problem is, my AC has 2 neutral wires. Do i stick them both in the N slot? Help!

I think the aqara switch not suitable for AC or Heater or large current appliances usage.
If u read the specs, max 10A and got picture there for light only (or small current appliances)

Not many smart switch can support till 20A.
I think saw somewhere got some model support 20A (newest product iinm)

Well, certain AC uses smaller AMP. So I'm willing to give it a try. The worst thing that can happen is, the breaker will trip and besides, I read the product description it says,

user posted image

The seller says it might work too.
*
Lazada spec?

Breaker will trip after the switch short circuit. The breaker current spec will be higher than the switch spec.

The small relay inside the switch most probably can handle 10amp.

Anyway, u can try if u r willing.. 😁

Anyone have any idea how to remote control the autogate? Previously I was thinking to use aqara switch to remote control the autogate open and close. But technician told me aqara switch is not able to do so due to some limitation (I dont know what limitation). Something like the autogate switch is different from normal switch. Anyone know how to do can teach?
*
QUOTE(Fubar20 @ Nov 17 2019, 05:04 PM)
Are you looking for a wall switch to control the auto gate?
Aqara wall switch limitations might be because it can't do inching.
Any Sonoff wall switch can do inching through the eWeLink app. But both wall switches need mains voltage aka 220 V to function. Not sure if autogate wall switch is low DC voltage or not.
*
If not mistaken got low voltage type wifi controller.
Its like the sonoff basic but low volt dc type. Got inching support.

Long I know it unreliable. So approve the smart home slowly.

This smart thingy is still revo and need time to mature.  Just same like LED light. The beginning is unreliable and expensive. Slowly now getting mature and better quality. With many good brand produce good LED light.

Those important task or important everyday usage, I won't put into smart.

Sometime overlook when DIY smart thing.

Example DIY this smart toaster.  biggrin.gif
With internet down, I can't use it. Unless open up the case.
Forget to design a manual push button into the case to ON/OFF the sonoff incase offline. sad.gif

user posted image

But another example which the even manual mode also useless. sad.gif
The water integration even can manual mode intervention. But I need to be there to manually ON/OFF it. If not, whole day doesn't work at all. Cause it run on schedule.

user posted image

I still don't understand this sonoff timer, schedule running.

The car porch light run light normal with timer everyday even offline now. But the water integration doesn't work. It's also run on timer everyday.

Car porch light is Sonoff basic and water intergration is Sonoff SV model.

that water pump should sit below the control box.
if leaking abis la the board.. tongue.gif

looks like ur wiring configuration is using different circuit for lighting/fan and for plug/20A (heater/ac).
thats why it trips when u tap netral at plug/20A point.

if tap neutral from 20A switch no problem?
but tap neutral at plug/sso 13A it trips?

if this the case, ur 20A must be sharing neutral with lighting.. hmm.gif
