Just got installed, looped the neutral wire on the ac switch.
Only thing annoying was the loose screws on the dimmer, no matter how i rotate the wires just pops out.
Had to use electrical tapes to put in place 😑

Try change screw. Bigger a bit. Tape will not have good contact. Can generate heat.

I recently bought Broadlink TC2 for my light and fan.

The light is working properly but for the fan it is not turning even when the TC2 is on with light.

Anyone can recommend solution for this?
*
I think it will not work with fan. Note that the ceiling fan or any induction motor that runs on single phase supply require capacitor to make it turn. The smart switch without N wire connection usually need to put a capacitor between L and N. this will change the capacitance value of the fan as well and probably offset the phase to make the fan turn.

Not familiar with Broadlink. Do you have a capacitor installed to make the smart switch work?

I'm using batteryless door bell. Forgot the brand and the logo has faded as it's placed outdoor.
I remember it is some kind of Made In China brand.
*
I think the first one was from a company called Augreener. It even has FCC ID for use in the US. However, now many copies of the technology as you can find in Shopee smile.gif

Sorry for asking a beginner question, how to check if my existing light switches come with or without neutral line?
*
I guess we follow UK or stick to old wiring. It reduces cost. If require N wire at switch box then, you need additional wire pulled to the switch. Therefore, you would have 4 wires at the switch connection since you would be looping the N wire at the switch level instead on ceiling.

Those smart switches claim that they don't need external capacitor because they are built-in. Built-in capacitor are not recommended when it spoilted hard to replace.
I would recommend to go for external capacitor for easy replacement and cheap.
*
I don't think this is correct. The bypass capacitor purpose is to leak more current from L wire across load to deliver to the switch. You can never do that with bypass capacitor in the switch itself because the load is up there on the ceiling.

I guess those claiming no need to have bypass capacitor is just because they believe the small average current leak by load itself is enough to drive their circuitry in the switch.

I see, so the solution would be to add longer time delay at least before turning off the lights
Is it the same radar sensor i listed?
I’m looking into some non invasive presence detection
Like the thermal camera, maybe not enough cover wide room
Even with ai on frigate, still needs some movement to trigger detection
*
QUOTE(Fubar20 @ Feb 24 2022, 12:50 PM)
Good for sensitive motion detection.
Don't think it can differentiate between sitting down or lie down
Doubt that it uses 5Ghz, the 5Ghz wifi also cannot pass the wall. Higher frequency, shorter the waves.
That sensor use Doppler effect to detect motion. No need high frequency for what is essentially a radar
*
The frequency used by the radar in this case is 3.181GHz. Will not interfere with WiFi.

Both IR and radar detect presence of human by movement. Most IR sensor detect heat grid change in sensor to trigger, not just heat alone. So, if no movement, it will also shut down like radar. Same operation but just different methods. smile.gif

Technically they still can act as repeater, if you connect neutral wire to it. There is one exception, a few post back,  someone already shared touch switch zigbee that still acts as repeater even though not hooked up to neutral
*
QUOTE(Fubar20 @ Mar 14 2022, 02:24 PM)
Correct term should be router and not repeater.
And yes, Zigbee switch can be a router even without neutral connection.
*
I get confused here. Why N has anything to do with zigbee being a router or repeater in first place. The connection is wireless. Having N connection or not only related to how the zigbee device is powered. hmm.gif

Normal charging with plug
I put it indoor, bought it because it’s wireless, can put anywhere I want
Activity is very low actually

Advertised battery life is around 3 months
*
Maybe they are playing with words. The 3 month is just the power retained in battery in OFF condition laugh.gif

highlight red ac switch got neutral right?
*
Yes. 20A double pole switch sure got N. However, if your house 3 phase wiring, N can be separated too for each phase, Pairing L to different phase may trip main RCD if your house use one.

the wooden door and the steel gate.

the reason i ask, it is because i plan to go keyless.
if u install snart lock for either one... the other door will need to use key

You meant unlock using phone? Why make it difficult? Thumbprint is difficult? laugh.gif

I saw grill and main door use small QR Code like like 20x20cm "sticker". Well it is more like that magnet sticker you put on fridge but much thinner. I guess this can be put in wallet and become like RFID or TnG to open the door.

I have no idea bro. From my casual observation, those non-smart air conditioners can be connected to wifi only if they have a 3 pin plug to connect to a wifi enabled power socket. All the air cons I have I see no such 3 pin plugs, unless the installer modified it or something?

Which is why I'm curious if air conditioners these days come with 3 pin plug?
*
Hold on. I get confused here. All wall sockets in Malaysia have 3 holes. You meant all your air-con has no Earth connection. Are you in Malaysia? smile.gif

I remembered seeing an article mentioning to connect the aircon to a smart plug with WIFI but I can't even see the air con 3 pin plug. Is it hidden somewhere?

These are the old air conditioners at my place right now. I can't see any 3 pin plugs.

Oh I forgot to tell that the higher power air-con may have wire connected directly to starter, but it looks to me yours is no more that 2hp smile.gif

I think Tuya is just provide smart platform that provide solution for house automation mostly. Many brand is using Tuya platform. It can be any brand. So, I wouldn't say rebadged.

Can use any bi-polar capacitor like poly polypropylene or mica

The picture you've shown has value 5.6nF which is too small. Not enough current passes through thus still blinking. I cannot recall but actually depends on the switch itself.

More accurately, WiFi, Zigbee, Z-Wave, BT are are just communication mediums smile.gif

Some of these at my mom’s house seem to be using fluorescent bulbs (2 pin PlC)
If I need to replace with led, do i just replace bulb only or the whole thing with casing?

[attachmentid=11172026]

I'd suggest just replace the whole thing. You can easily find the the exact hole size. If you just use an LED bulb and use he existing fixture, the light is really has narrow beam straight down. The complete LED version is not only lighter but the LEDs are mounted close to surface making it light beam even wider. You get mote brightness than with that old type fixture, unless that is not what you prefer. smile.gif
