Sound interesting.

I m thinking of this too. Wonder my Arduino can do or not.

Now in the mid of expanding my solar system. Some light point will be run on led with DC voltage. All charger and dry cabinet on solar power. I might need some remote monitoring, triggering and controlling.

Arduino more baremetal and less processing power. Will be hard because the whatsapp library are running on python.

Depending how the nas is access loh, sometime maybe due to house pc downloading and got Trojan.

Back to so called smart hokes, Actually, smart home is overrated. Smart is not the word to use. Is just bunch of sensor operate base on the logic someone program inside. It should be called programed home, not smart.

+ hacking and installing
+ iot / sensors,
+ SIM cards / internet
+ lorawan (many not into this game yet) / zwawe / bluetooth
+ Arduino / Raspberry / Orange / propriety controller
+ programming

There you go, the need of smarthome.

Hacking zwave is already happening, jamming gsm/4g/wifi, Bluetooth is in the market already.

more fun for hacker to hack...

Don't understand why such a simple devise can't operate ownself. Got to use cloud.
*
Cloud is also marketing hype lah, cloud is someone else computer inside Datacenter.

The purpose of using cloud is they can milk you (annual /monthly), connecting around the world, high up time. Than again what is the point if got cloud connection but house Internet is depending in electric and one isp? Still got many point of failure.

My Sonoff finally arrived! Weird thing is SF-Express sent it to me from Sweden via normal Swedish Post so Pos Malaysia delivers it. Its like they gave up and use the airmail ....lol

Anyway, the Sonoff is quite small, seen here side by side a portable HDD

Installing it is also very simple - just two inputs L & N and two outputs. One thing I feel is the terminal block is rather weak. Its soldered into the board but when you tightened the screws, the block will move a bit to one side. I worry that the solder connection may break and may cause some arcing. This can be solved by taking off the cover and hold the terminal block down while you tightened the screws.

I installed two Sonoff for 1 table lamp and the other I installed it in an extension cord. On this extension cord, I have three other small table lamps. So one Sonoff will control all three lamps and whatever else I plug into this extension.

For the extension, I did not cut the Earth wire but route it inside the Sonoff box - Only adjustment is that you have to cut a bit of the top cover (see pics)

Just make sure all the wires are clear of the screw holes for the two side covers. The two side covers will hold the wire in place, it has some teeth.

Same here. Not more than 20 watts for my application
Saying the neutral and Live too close is bs. There are others like the Fibaro switches I think much closer due to the tiny size of the device. The angmoh in YouTube also having no issues with them
*
They only give you review and used for short period of time. Long term review is by the user smile.gif

How long the angmoh used already? What the highest wattage it drive before?

Have you measure the idle / standby wattage of each unit?

Dunno wo...but it's rated for
Max current: 10A
Max Wattage: 2200 watts
Dunno the standby power and don't care cause it won't be more than my mechanical timers
*
You should try power up a 2000watts vacuum cleaner for 10mins, see how it goes. Everytime I make something that drive high current, I will try to drive it to the peak for a short while and see how the driver behave.
