QUOTE(nles @ Jan 10 2024, 07:57 AM) Thanks for all the input, didn't quote everyone but yea I also find the light quotation not worth to go for. The quotation was like 2 or 3 months back and I didn't pursue further with it. If I use normal bulb and only use smart switches, CMIIW the thing I'm missing out is probably the dimming function unless I add dimmers, also the ability to control the light temperature. Order abroad just worry ran into warranty issue, but so far my router all doing fine. Another 1 is the support, buy abroad means everything I setup myself, planning the cable routes. I was thinking a udm pro, switch and 2-3 AP for double storey terrace. Since is from scratch, also plan to use zigbee device, but how many hub do I need, hub has about the same coverage as standard wifi router ya? If you plan to dim, your bulb or LED need to be able to support it. IMO if you want the dimming feature, better to go with those bulb that has this feature. My house, the only room that has dimming is my movie room... all the rest is just on and off.

I'm on HomeKit, using this inching module to control my autogate to open and close. But starting today the connection is rather spotty and it doesn't show as inch anymore... weird? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002637950603.htmlLooking to replace this, any recommendations? HomeKit, or heck now I have MQTT if there's better options around?

QUOTE(simmarjit @ Mar 9 2024, 12:20 AM) D1 is just the more common one because its older (and now cheaper larh) but what i would suggest is going for the E1 instead, a lot of times its actually even cheaper than D1 while being newer. E1 H1 T1 all take up less space inside your switch box, so thats defo a positive. D1 is also Zigbee 1.2, and the others being Zigbee 3 (not as if you will notice any difference), its backwards compatible and i believe that if you have like some Zigbee 1.2 sensors, everything will revert to that only. Either way its not really an issue, but just information for you. I have mostly D1, and some E1s Just noticed that the H1 already has a 20A option also, but pricey for sure. I would go with E1 if I build now too, and most of the time E1 cheaper. But bare in mind the E1 has lower current limits than D1. But since I'm using for LED lights not too big deal.

QUOTE(alucard89 @ Mar 11 2024, 05:48 PM) How’s the wifi coverage to the gate? Never had issue, but weird is now it suddenly recovered. I'm starting to wonder if that nearby node band is incompatible...

QUOTE(TongCN @ Mar 14 2024, 02:31 PM) After installing Aqara U100 for 2 weeks+ , quite happy with it Currently Aqara Home app - Malaysia bind to Aqara E1 hub (included in the box) and bound to Homekit So think of investing some other Aqara products but not sure how the region thing works after browsing shopee. There are xiaomi aqara and aqara and CN and global, what are the difference? Is buying xiaomi Aqara (I saw the price cheaper) works with Aqara Home or must use Mi Home app? Example of aqara devices i try to get : 1) Door and Window Sensor T1 2) Aqara Curtain Driver E1 The China older stock accessories can bind to Global hub via Aqara app... but the newer ones has region validation. But you can do homekit connection and it works.

QUOTE(TongCN @ Mar 14 2024, 03:51 PM) Meaning to say, i just need to add through Apple Homekit , right? But i will lose certain functions such as using the "IF" or automation under Aqara Home as well ? Correct, it won't appear inside Aqara cloud server.

QUOTE(lucaswjk @ Mar 25 2024, 12:32 PM) my Tuya wifi smart lock battery can last 60days only. I thought at least 4months 😮💨 the spec written 4000mah 4-6months low battery notification only last for 24hrs, after that it will scare u by refusing to unlock. man this really make me panic. I thought these would last longer. I'm using Phillips EasyKey, the one with face recognition... installed since Dec'22, first set of battery so far. QUOTE(silrave @ Mar 25 2024, 05:55 PM) oh like that a , i though they no need any hub for apple. just use apple phone , and all thing connect to zigbee. then i can use apple home to manage all Previously can leave an iPad on 24/7 for remote control, but now you need the ATV or HomePod for remote control and automation.

QUOTE(nles @ Mar 28 2024, 09:07 PM) Guys I'm on apple ecosystem. If given the choice of either Dooya or top up significantly extra for Aqara smart curtain, what's the better choice? Not really sure how well can I integrate Dooya into apple homekit. Getting custom track so not all brand the vendor can do. Aqara Smart Curtain. I did mine with Smart Home Curtain (the shop in Penang), they only can supply lifesmart or smartlife motor which has homekit hub... but teruk la it doesn't have the Zigbee system like Aqara . I had to put 2 hubs 1 upstairs and 1 downstairs.

QUOTE(alucard89 @ Mar 30 2024, 12:06 PM) Actually how is the custom track design? Since you’re stuck with their Dooya curtain. Can’t just request to make custom track then have them install different curtain motors? There is at least 2 different mounts, or at least what I learnt... the one from a local shop is a smaller plastic mount, not sure what sort of motor would fit. While the one I got now seems the standard which should also fit Aqara.

Need recommendation... which of those relay boards would you reocmmend? Those to control autogate via inching. Need to be able to integrate homekit, or at least mqtt so I can expose to homekit.

QUOTE(simmarjit @ Apr 8 2024, 10:08 PM) MQTT to what? HA? Homebridge? There are tuya and ewelnk ones a lot on the market, i used the ewelink for a few years no issues, last year changed to 2x Shelly 1 relays. Shelly can be flashed to be compatible with Homekit if i am not mistaken I want to integrate to HomeKit, the only ones can support Homekit that I found was this Athom (some custom flashed) which I'm using but it is failing. Is this the Shelly you're using? https://www.shelly.com/en/products/shop/shelly-plus-1

Yikes, Aqara lock bring buggy… I’ve been using Phillips for 1.5 years. Just replaced the 8xAA battery and replaced the thumb print scanner due to being faulty. Other than that ok so far.

I'm back here regarding autogate relay switch, I have to admit I'm being spoilt by the convenience of not needing to hold the remote control and also remotely open the gate when delivery comes. On and off the modules goes haywire, but may return later on which is weird.
Currently using this board from Athom (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002637950603.html) which supports HomeKit.
My system consists mostly Aqara, so I'm considering to make the jump to Aqara T2 (only T2 able to do the relay for autogate right?). Or is there a more robust chip which I could make use of MQTT or homebridge to integrate instead?

QUOTE(alucard89 @ Jul 22 2024, 10:33 AM) Not connected to my Wi-Fi, not sure if it isn't working... or Wi-Fi coverage issue. But I have a node that's nearby less than 30 ft away.

My previous auto gate relay...
12V battery --> 12v to 5v USB device --> Athom relay board. The 12v to 5v USB adaptor melted...
Using Aqara T2 now, the inching feature is bugged at the moment. When enable inching, the switch remains turned on... doesn't turn off. So I had to do automation manually to turn it off using homekit.

QUOTE(lucaswjk @ Jul 24 2024, 10:27 PM) few month ago, i bought few of this. to stepdown the 12v to 5v https://my.shp.ee/eKNXBo8im not sure if i needed to stepdown the inching "power" for the esp32 gpio or not, actually planned to connect this to the radio module. havent got time to do research Relay went offline finally due to live wire is broken from the 12VDC to USB5V component. Using this for about 1.5 years, about 3 months ago I did open up as that time already started getting wonky the board but I was suspecting Wi-Fi all the time. Aqara T2 (RM200) from local shop, compared to the board I used previously this is much pricier. Advantage is now I could place this inside my house instead even with Zigbee has good coverage now. Stored behind the wireless keypad.
