thanks, ive been looking for a smart lock and was considering Sony's Qrio Smart Lock but unfortunately it wont fit one of my locks as my door frame is too narrow.

i also want a smart lock that can open without me having to open an app (thats too slow). If it can detect when I am near then automatically open, it would be better. Or maybe press a Flic button to open.

Any lock that use smart card type ?

Instead of key tradition, phone or blutooth.

Smart card I think is most reliable. Beside the key.

Something not to carry separately or too small. That easy missing and misplace.

Main point to take away the tradition key is

1)Something light like a card type.
2)Big enough but still can carry. So not easy missing. Card type is big in size, But thin enough and light.
3)Easy to keep in 1 place like wallet. Don't want this thing in 1 pocket, that thing in 1 pocket. That carry a key is no different.
4) Phone or blutooth access as a 2nd choice incase the card missing.

I thought our door only have 1 or 2 standard ? Is it the door thick have alot of spec ?

The key fob can be hang on a keychain but if you dont like that, I think can easily get local sellers to duplicate key fobs to a card type RFID. Best is no need to do anything, it should open on its own when it senses that you are approaching. Its too slow for other things like cards, fingerprint, etc

That is a bit dangerous wor. And might mistake door not lock.

You have many case like stand near the door long, frequent in/out, rushing in/out. etc.

For those of you having smart locks at the main door.. do you have a grill before the door? Find it a little troublesome if there is one, unless the grill is "smart" as well biggrin.gif

Yeah, curious about this one
But doesn't look like most of top brand includes keycards

I see there's a bunch of those locks sold with rfid tags at taobao but got no apps or even if there's one it's not really open allowing to control with smart hub.

So far what I intend to do is using one of those cheap bluetooth tags, using something like happybubbles or raspberry pi to detect the bluetooth mac address when nearby. Then this triggers automation in home assistant to unlock the door.

I'm just not sure how fast/responsive this would be yet, still haven't install my yale lock.

exactly my thoughts. if you got a grill and front door, then it makes sense to have an electronic/smart lock for both doors.
so now you got twice the cost, twice the trouble, twice the problem

and for grill you need a special lock because people can reach in to the other side of the lock

My Sonoff cannot resume the timer function when power trip. Even in Keep mode.

Let say the timer set at 7pm ON. But power trip early than that time. When power restore after 7pm, the timer will not ON the light and remain OFF till you manually ON it on the phone.

Confirm few time already.

Of course this cannot be done.

Your timer is set to turn On/Off at exactly 7pm
If your power trip at 6.45pm and come back on at 7.15pm, it will not know there was a trigger at 7pm to turn it On/Off

Your trigger is at 7pm - the trigger is only send this signal one time at 7pm. If pass this time, there is no more trigger until the next day (if you set repeat)

Its just like you ask your friend to call you at 7pm to wake you up. But at 7pm, you went to take a bath and didnt hear your friend calling you. Thats it, you wont get another call from your friend

I thought the switching is ON all the way till the OFF timer. Regardless the trip. As what the KEEP function is all about. It should resume the command to ON from the schedule till OFF is given.

Something like a real timer.

there is no resume since it didnt even get the command signal
this doesnt work like a mechanical timer where certain segment of the dial is on or off.

i give you another example - Someone comes at 7pm and ring your door bell but nobody is home. When you get home, you wont know if your doorbell has been rung by someone, right? Same thing with Sonoff

That is Google Home Mini only setback.
Picking up voice commands, the seven-mic array in the Amazon
Echo Dot gives the device the edge over Google Home Mini
two far-field microphones.
