Yeah, but I think I'm still quite far away from being a EJ tongue.gif. I just realized that my old tortoise bat (Schidolkt or something) is still around. Brings me back memories of my old child playing days flex.gif . So far I got 3 bats in total, including that tortoise bat. [But only 2 I own, 1 I need to return to my friend when he wants it back...]

My long term goal is to learn to play RPB with 755 long pips OX without sponge!. If opponent chop to my backhand, I jus smash them back  rolleyes.gif . But easier said than that. I hope I can master that stroke within 6 months...

Anyway, that cheap pingpong robot I posted earlier....anyone interested in bringing tht baby in? brows.gif

that robot is very basic, you can make your own. I almost completed mine already... let me upload some pictures in a while.

At current stage, fairly simple... PVC pipe 40mm + joint, 2 computer casing fan, balance from cut rubber, two voltage contral ( AC/DC converter ) some screws and nuts...

Attached Image

there u go, a partially finished robot... it can do bottom spin and top spin. It can also be adjustted to do sidespin as well.

ball will travel between the two roller and since the roller will be spinning, ball will shoot out when it get in between the two rollers..
the faster the roller spins... the more powerful the ball will travel.

Notice 2 rollers, if top roller spin faster than the bottom ones, it will produce a bottom spin, if bottom roller spins faster than the top one, then it will become top spin.

To incease the ball spin rotation, you have bigger difference of speed between the two rollers.

If you need side spin, just turn the whole thing sideways.

Things to do:
1. Auto Ball Loader... I am short of a round wheel
2. Mounting... I need to mount it into a casing ( some kind of box )

For the loader, Maybe u can modify a hamster walking wheel, or find some toys and make 2 holes at the bottom and the top. Better still if you can make it rotate by gravity.

For mounting...I think empty Biscuit tin with some weights should be sufficient?

From I see in the pic...does the fan blade touch the ball directly? Its 2 8cm PC fan right?
*
thats for the suggestions. At the moment my project is stalled because busy with other stuff.

For the auto ball loader, I have another slow moving motor ( geared motor ) which will push the ping pong ball towards the spinning rubber wheels.

Yes, it is a modified Computer Casing Fan. Its actually a 12cm PC fan, I cut off the fan blades, then wrap the fan center with table-tennis rubber. So you have a spinning rubber wheel. I have two of those rubber wheels opposite of each other and ping-pong ball will go in between those two. Because they are spinning, it can shoot out the ping-pong ball

i see, but from what I see now, you need to manually feed the ball from the start of the tube until it "touches" the rubber right?
*
it will have a motorized ball feeder, I am short of on more component.

tsd... very innovative.... got the blueprints for this?
*
got, blueprint was much much nicer than the actual product hahaha... biggrin.gif unfortunately, alot of things cannot be achieved at the moment cos lack of components. My initial plan even have a remote control ( taken out from toy remote control car ) to control the speed of ball and spin. Project has been scalled down quite alot. Now only left with a skeleton ping pong robot ( even that also have troubles completing it )

I am more than willing to help as well. Get a few engineers together and make a machine laugh.gif

it is almost completed already smile.gif once a basic unit is done... can slowly enhance its capabilities, must make it in a very modular fashion. Too bad I have two very small kids at home, very hard for me to find time to do this robot.

Then we can open up our own company and sell robots. Maybe we can have our own brand of TT equipment and sponsor World Championship/Olympics   cool2.gif
*
Actually I have thought if this, there is a big market locally. Cost of this ping-pong robot is quite low... I think until today, I spend less than RM50 on it. I think I can complete it within RM100.

I design this robot to be able to use battery and also power supply from the wall, it makes it very portable. Can even do ping-pong robot rental business... just bring it along to any place, with or without power supply, it can still operate with battery.

Even though u are in penang, can still work together on it... we can still share ideas to build this thing. You can always build a replica of what I build here in KL and I can build on what you make in Penang... we are still working on the same robot smile.gif

For auto wheel loader, can a film slide rotator be used? Just a suggestion.
*
what is a film slide rotator, is it easily available ? I wanted to have something like the sewing machine wheel, where it will have a rod pushing the ping pong ball towards to roller. I have a gear motor with me, which rotates very slowly ( speed can increase or decrease by varying the voltage channeled to this gear motor )

QUOTE(SnoWFisH @ Mar 16 2010, 09:43 PM)
After playing back shakehand after a few weeks of penhold, I felt like my shots had more power and I'm able to control better. I think, I might stick back to shakehand after all. a1098113 is going to murder me now because I now need some eq counseling for a shakehand blade + rubbers as my nittaku is cracking  even though I applied some super glue. Whenever the ball hits the cracked part of the blade (the rubber is not glued to anything as its just resting on inner ply, since the outer ply broke off) the shot will be weak. I'm thinking of BTY TBS, but its sold out on presports, and I think they increased the price of TB ZLC to RM 450!

I'm looking for a blade that has more "feel" to it. When I hit a drive, I will want to feel and know that the ball actually penetrated up to the blade. Its ok to have a bit of vibration. I wouldn't want to just "spring" off the ball just like that and having that numb feeling.

And oh, I'm more of a hitter/looper/offensive type of player with occasional chopping.

Thanks a1098113  for your help so far, I'm going to need more of your help now  icon_question.gif .

Thanks guys.

And I think I'm ready for the leap to carbon ply blades  tongue.gif

if you are looking for TBS, why not you try out TBS clone... Galaxy (Yin-He ) K4, it is cheaper and according to some people K4 and TBS plays similar.

or if you decide to go for all wood, I would recomend you Stiga Offensive Wood NCT

both are below RM150. I bought K4 for my nephew and Stiga Offensive Wood NCT for my brother from Yap's shop ( www.tabletennis.com.my ) and I have tried both of them smile.gif both are very nice to play with. Decent power with decent control. Quality wise, they are also very good.

Korbel is a nice blade but at that price, better add a little bit more to get k4 ( around RM110 ) or Offensive NCT wood ( around RM140 ). I personally feels Korbel is lack of power.

korbel has a great feel to it. Having so much speed when youre just getting back the strokes can demotivate and nevertheless, speed is more to how u hit the ball. and rubbers can compensate the speed.
*
you are right, Korbel is a pretty decent blade with decent speed. That time when I tested it, I was still using Sardius ... maybe thats why I felt a great loss of power. If compared to the Offensive NCT, I guess not much difference. As for the Galaxy K4, I feel is more value for money because K4 is a composite blade. Again, not everyone likes the composite blades.

sorry that dont sell table tennis blade, it just happens that I help my brother to buy this blade ( OFFENSIVE WOOD NCT ) from Yap's shop.

I tried it for a while. It has a very crispy and nice feeling playing to play with. A very beautiful and high quality blade also.

oh.. u are on bryce also smile.gif nice... I was an offensive player in the past when I was younger, I use speed glued Bryce on a Butterfly Sardius. Nowadays, I tone down alot already, now I use Bryce Speed on KLH Special.

If you happens to find a Bryce replacement, do let me know. I will be very interested to try it out too.

depends on your playing style.. tenergy is a very european rubber. With a chinese touch to it. Tenergy 05 is the chinese version so to speak. But its too expensive if you do a performance to price ratio. The durability is short as well.
*
it seems like the whole world is using it nowadays, surely there must be something very special about it.

QUOTE(SnoWFisH @ Mar 25 2010, 01:54 PM)
Had a try just now with the bat, at close range I couldn't really get much power out of my strokes. I suspect I'm not used to the weight of the bat as its significantly heavier compared to my previous bat. I always find myself swinging too late. I think its is more of a adjustment I need to make rather than the bat itself.

In mid range, the bat weights makes it easier. My shots were more accurate, and my looping are hitting near the baseline more compared to my previous bat, which my loops are always hitting near the net.

There's for my forehand. For my backhand, I'm still struggling to control the M2's power. Its much bouncier than my old 729FX, I'm having problems to direct it to hit the direction I want it to go. Still, this is pretty much my problem rather than the bat.

a1098113 is right, I really need to build more muscles to handle this bat lol.
*
Korbel is not a very fast blade, so you cannot expect to get much power out of it. It is good for controlled/placement game, not power game. Maybe you should try to play control instead.

Long time never log in. Been busy with the Malaysian Youth Championship (technical delegates) last week and went overseas after that and only back yesterday.
Have not been playing ping pong for the last 2-3 weeks already. Will have to readjust this week as some one ask to play friendly against a Klang club this weekend.
Agreed. Bluten is not a good blade, but is a cheap blade.

Keep the old blade, but change the rubber, maybe Nittaku Nanucross.

If I am not mistaken, there is a shop in Penang also; Hypermart or something like that. Not sure in the island or on the mainland.
BTW, there is a table tennis competition in April at the Nottingham Uni. Malaysian Campus. Will dig the info. and paste for all.
*
welcome back smile.gif I just cant wait to play... hopefully can join u people one of these days. I hope I still can play after such a long break.

I am looking for a new rubber for my forehand, does anyone know where I can get the Palio Macro Era cheapest ?

I just weighed my Nittaku setup, which has 2x 729 Super FX Max thickness rubbers, it weighs at 150g! My Korbel with the Mark V rubbers weighs at 195g!

That means my Nittaku blade is only...40-55g ! o.O No wonder the bat no power.
*
my setup, KLH Special + Bryce Speed 2.1mm and Inspirit Quattro Ultra Light 2.2mm is 175g

it's not too bad... I did drop the setup on concrete and only a teeny weeny bit came off at the edge... nothing major. As for grip... care for it like a tacky rubber... clean and cover with plastic when not in use... and it will last.
*
Thanks... I think I will try out the Palio Macro Era 47 once my Bryce Speed gets worse, it is about 2 years already... Just now I tested it, it seems like still playable.

Check with Terry (of CKK) when can he bring you to the Sunway club to play, I will be there.

As for the Palio Macro Era, I believe it is a tensor rubber, the cheapest if compared with others brand of tensor rubbers. Thalis is correct that TTTrading has the Macro Era at a reasonable price. Buy more can ask for discount.

Ok thanks, u guys still play regularly at Sunway Club ?

I think I will delay my purchase first since my Bryce Speed is still usable, hopefully got new technology appear soon.

I was so used to 2.0mm. At first the max felt like jelly. Couldn't loop at all for the first hour. The feeling was compounded by my blade's flex. I was like... WTH... should have gotten the 47.5 2.1mm or stuck with 42.5 2.0mm. Took me almost 2 hours to realise that I was looping at full strength. Also a lot of dwell time. All loops hit net or beyond the table (corner to corner). Didn't help that my partner is a LP user...   doh.gif

So I decided to wind down my loops... then the control came in abundance. Then slowly build up on power again. Finally on my 3rd hour... can loop from mid distance again. One thing though, it's great for traditional penhold blocks... can attack even by just pushing on the block. Another thing is... the sound... it's LOUD even if you brush loop. And the PING when you flat hit is contagious. Needless to say, I was completely exhausted upon reaching home.....  rclxub.gif

Now I am thinking if it's suitable for a really fast blade like the Clipper Wood...  drool.gif

PME 42.5 is rather soft... but very springy... really must try the 47.5 one day...  rolleyes.gif
*
hahah.. thanks.. like that I better strike out PME 42.5 from my short list. Maybe I will stick to Bryce Speed for my next replacement rubber.

My current bryce speed is bought in 2007, just now I just wipe it with water... bounce ball on it, still plenty of spin. Amazing rubber... almost 3 years arleady seems like still ok. Must take out for a few game then only decide to change or not.
