Getting Started

hi guys, really need advice on which mobo i should get to OC my E6600. Currently im using Gigabyte N650SLI-DS4, and it seems i can go 3.15ghz only. Any other other settings seem to make my pc unstable, so im planning to get a higher end SLI motherboard. The other components i hav is :
2 x MSI 8800GTS 512mb OC edition 4 x 1gb OCZ Reaper DDR800 750watt Coolermaster PSU Coolermaster Mystique casing Soundblaster XFI Platinum
Really hope u guys can advice me what other things i will need in order to achieve the 3.6ghz mark. Thank u very much.

QUOTE(gengstapo @ Dec 16 2007, 04:12 AM) no need change vcore, e6600 at default mostly able to hit 3.2Ghz just change configuration at BIOS 400Mhz x8, the rest leave at default why dont use 355 x 9?is it more easy to achieve without change vcore? noob here

@jack u try tweak more ur setting..with my previous e66 i can do around 3.8ghz stabel prime..forgot with the vcore..but highest i cant do 3.96ghz using asus commando @cyberfly not really..sumtime when using higher multi abit hard to oc rather than using lower multi..its depent on ur luck, skills and hardware @maranello cant tell the perfomance jus based on the batch..sumtime with same batch u got differ result..so my advise try tweak it 1st..its oc then u need to face try n error

Thanks mfcm.
Mine is running stable and pass orthos n prime 2 hours.
460 x 7 - 3.2.
I read a guide saying we should max the bus speed instead using the multiplier to get a desired clock...is that true?
In my case, orthos is reaching 70c...too hot so im planning to get an artic cooler before i can keep that clock. Perhaps a better cooler coz im pumping up voltage. Cant seem to get 500 x 8 or reach 3.6 thats y.

QUOTE(victor1987 @ Mar 29 2008, 12:08 AM) what cooler you're using? and all the voltages settings. having the same fpo/batch #. Intel stock....dont dare to go higher than 3.2 and keep it. Tried 3.6 (400x9 1.4v) and mem to 1000Mhz (1:2.4). Windows can boot but CCC crashed and 3dmark06 cant even finished return to proxycon. Could be the proc temp...its 47-49 on idle. Cant be the GC tho...OC it and put the fan on 100% and load on 63c. What could be the reason of the instability? Added on March 30, 2008, 4:58 amMy latest 3dmark06 on 3.4Ghz This post has been edited by maranello55: Mar 30 2008, 04:58 AM
