rumours said something event on this jan 2016, hopefully macbook on there if not u need to wait until jun 2016 for new update

Ic. But last one is in march 2015 rite? I believe by then it should be upgraded since sky lake processor suitable for macbook has been out for few months back.

15-inch one had missed one gen (broad well) as of now.

The earlier the better but no matter how it will be just 3 months wait I guess. Worth to wait than buying now I guess. Not in hurry for me though.

It is good to enjoy as early as possible but I dun want to make the same mistake again, my last 15-inch purchase is in April 2015 less than 2 weeks of purchase they upgraded 15-inch in may 2015, I was like ... Wtf... Paid full price but get 2014 outdated product and feel frustrated that cannot enjoy the new stuff on the new model.

But lucky due to some issue, I managed to replace my 15-inch to the mid-2015 model in jul 1 2015 and warranty restarted.

This macbook is 8 months old as of now which it may be due for upgrade anytime soon too.

Based on track record for MacBook Pro, apple does have irregular update timeline unlike iPhone. Sometimes 12 months upgrade sometimes 9 months. Would see what is the new upgrade that the rMBP 13 will get in 2016 too or even the MacBook Air (is it really dead by then or it will be totally transform etc) and decide. If the current MacBook Pro can get lighter, thinner it will definitely be good choice too. Or it may come with usb-c port which it will great.

rMBP 13 inch given the size, power, portability and price, it is also one of favorite choice.

Yesterday side by side compare with my friend 15inch Mid-2014 RDMBP with the spec of:
1) 2.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor (Turbo Boost up to 3.7GHz) with 6MB shared L3 cache
2) 16GB of 1600MHz DDR3L onboard memory

Comparing with mine 12 inch Retina MacBook:
1) 1.3GHz dual-core Intel Core M processor (Turbo Boost up to 2.9GHz) with 4MB shared L3 cache.
2) 8GB of 1600MHz LPDDR3 onboard memory

Of course Macbook Losing...
We tested on normal apps like safari, opening video, website, loading images and etc...
The difference is 1% to 10% different ONLY ...
Some do not have significant slow but yet some is slow for 1 or 2 seconds.

after that we tried on those heavy apps like exporting Keynote with HD video inside, exporting adobe premiere PRO...
Then the different is 30 to 50% different.

Overal i am satisfy with it since MacBook is not a BEAST laptop with that size rclxms.gif
The speed is not so disappointed yet its not like x3/4 slow so tongue.gif
By comparing the price tag, design, weight i think its still quite balance icon_idea.gif

This is just my test so it might be different with you guys, i am just sharing icon_rolleyes.gif

Confirmed difference is not a lot. I am using rmbp 15 mid 2015 while my friend is using rmbp 13 early 2015 model. No significant difference for normal workflow at all.
Unless one really needs the power else it is actually over killed.

15-inch price is too ex I hardly can utilise even more than 20% of the ram and cpu power.

Why do a test when the result is already known? Too much time perhaps...

actually the new macbook is not really that underpowered as most will think based on its paper spec.

ya, better still. so guess u need to drain the battery often to increase the cycles so it can reach that before warranty expires.

1st gen product indeed seems to have more problem. Guess 2nd gen should be pretty much perfect by then.

Agreed. This is the first time Apple is trying out their new battery 'sheets' technology in a MacBook, which offers superb compactness. However, battery longevity is questionable based on user reviews so far. Hope that they manage to get it sorted in the 2nd gen and beyond.

I am sure it will. I am looking forward to the 2nd gen in 2016.

iPad 2 has great improvement over the first gen iPad. Same goes to iPad mini 2 as well. iPhone 3 too.

Apple 2nd product is normally a lot better than 1st gen.

definitely the later generation will be better. but 2nd gen normally they make more significant quick/important update as compare to the first gen.

yes, indeed, price wise is an issue if the macbook is purchased in bolehland.

macbook pro 128GB 8GB ram is the same price as retina macbook 12" 256GB version in US price.

but come to malaysia or singapore, the price of macbook 12" is more expensive than the 13" macbook pro 128GB 8GB ram. so it depends if u are ok with this or not.

but 128GB is way too little for a macbook to be really useful. u cannot even run bootcamp comfortably given the limited space too.
