Testing unit. I heard it's kambing soon b4 but I thought it will be 1.3 turbo. Mana tau is 1.5 turbo. Guess Mazda opt for this to fight the hot hatch category instead of producing Mazda 3 MPS to go compete with Honda Civic Type R or RR. hmm.gif

Look at it this way, if this Demio with LED headlamp unit comes in, we get to buy the original LED headlamp and cruise control module from Mazda SC. icon_idea.gif brows.gif

The real question is at what price... sad.gif
*
Money is always an issue, but in order for it to be feasible for Mazda Malaysia to make it a value-added option for us owners, it has to be post-car-purchase order-based add-ons, like the MZD GPS SD card, body kit or tint, as order quantity is low. If there is demand, Mazda Malaysia can order from Mazda Japan as spare parts and install it locally in SC. So, even if there is no demand, Mazda Malaysia won't make a loss as they don't keep stock.

If the owners want it, they will install it eventually, nothing can beat original design and parts, unless the car is badly designed and has design defects in the first place.

However, these additional options might not increase the 2nd hand value of a car since 2nd hand car dealers will always try to buy low sell high.

QUOTE(kangarooo @ Apr 20 2015, 10:52 AM)
one question... cruise control can additional install? i thought must be build inside the system?
*
There are 3rd party cruise control available. But if get from Mazda, it is sort of plug-and-play and it gives peace of mind, since there are high spec Mazda 2 with cruise control available for JDM and European market.

Think of this as, Proton Wira change engine to use Mitsubishi Evo I, II, III's 4G63T. Same engine mounting position, plug-and-play, with some minor replacement/modifications.

If 1.5 turbo den my opinion stands. It should be neck to neck with Fiesta ST as hot hatch category. Else doesn't make any sense having a 250NM torque for RM90k car. Other RM90k no need to sell and can close shop liao. laugh.gif
*
Other shops must innovate to stay competitive lor. Most probably they will bring in their diesel variant in to ride the wave if diesel getting popular here, unless they got no confidence it will work here. Like Honda Grace (a.k.a. City Hybrid), most probably the plan to introduce hybrid power with dual-clutch transmission is scrapped, they can't solve it in their own JDM with so many recalls.

I find zero results when looking for 2015 M2 Aluminium Metallic in google. So I put this here

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Wanna promote this colour, it's a very nice colour. Although they keep pushing red, white and even dark grey.
It still sporty look, it show curve and lines as great as the red one. But of course it's low profile color.
It's easier and cheaper to maintain, it's also not as hot as dark grey in the hot sun.
The aluminium metallic is unique and not be found in T/H car.
*
I am getting Mazda 2 SDN Aluminum Metallic, common colour on Malaysian roads.

QUOTE(t3chn0m4nc3r @ Apr 20 2015, 11:43 AM)
yes but u need to understand that the difference cannot be too drastic and pricing of each categories are strictly controlled in order to maintain the existence of Proton. Other shops have their own innovations in other countries that have total freedom to trade their products. That's why common cars being sold in Malaysia are all stripped down.

Anyway, these are the cars waiting for Mazda 2 Skyactiv-D here:
http://www.autofreaks.com/features/feature...es-in-malaysia/
*
They cannot sell it below Proton's price, but they can sell it as post-purchase add-ons like the RM1,270.00 GPS option they are selling right? brows.gif

Those interested can buy, those who don't want, can opt out. Mazda getting it from Japan using case-by-case demand, so Mazda Malaysia won't lose money, even if no one wants it no?

Besides, the car already cost RM88k.

QUOTE(dellicious @ Apr 20 2015, 11:45 AM)
i wish i could change colour now..so stress waiting for dis red SDN lol say got chassis number already but dunno true or not
*
If got chassis number, should be your turn to get the car soon already.

diesel engine is different with petrol engine, Skyactiv-D yes it has 250NM but only 105PS, compare with those hot hatch category which fiesta ST that come with 182PS and 240NM, so Mazda 2 diesel definitely not under hot hatch category.

I dunno la... personally I feel the darkness is more or less the same but the shine on the Mazda 1 is different. Kind of like the soul red but greyish silver. The Toyota 1 is just grey metalic. laugh.gif

Just found out something. Not sure how to verify but:

Mazda 2 skyactiv-g 1.5 0-100km/h - 10.1s
Mazda 2 skyactiv-d 1.5tebu 0-100km/h - 9.5s hmm.gif

It's even slower than Swift Sport. hmm.gif
*
With same gear ratio, higher torque (NM) wins acceleration race, higher horsepower (PS/KW) wins top speed race.

But diesel engines redline around 5k rpm while petrol engines redline around 6.5k-7k rpm, hence, the gear ratio will be different. In the end, the performance of diesel & petrol variant will be closely similar.

It all comes down to preference.

Diesel, turbo car, powerful acceleration turbo kick but there are turbo lag; great FC, but reduced comfort due to loud idle, non-linear turbo kick acceleration and coarse low frequency growling sound when accelerate. NOx emission is bad for health (France is considering banning diesel cars).
Petrol, natural aspirated car, linear but subtle acceleration; lower FC, but better comfort due to low idling sound and smooth acceleration sound.

If I am not mistaken, roadtax is the same for 1.5L diesel & petrol, only above 2L engine, there will be a big difference.

To compete in hot hatch, Mazda most probably fit 1.5L turbocharged engine in Mazda 2 MPS, or 2.5L turbocharged engine in Mazda 3 MPS. Or... Revive the rotary engine!! Since it is designed for performance, emission control throw out the window. drool.gif drool.gif

Engine won't blow, the problem is whether it is only to be used with RON98 and above only, like Honda Civic Type R. What Mazda can do is a variable compression engine design? Or maybe Otto-Diesel variable cycle engine? hmm.gif

Test whether the orange BHP-claimed Euro3 diesel can work well with Skyactiv-D engines or not, so Mazda Malaysia can bring in to sell sooner if the test result is positive, hence conquering the B-segment with best FC performance, without worrying the hybrid tax incentive expiring end of this year.

Honda can't bring in their i-DTEC as they want to push their i-DCD hybrid into Malaysia to take advantage of CKD hybrid tax free incentive, yet, I believe they are scrapping the plan to produce it here, unless govt extend CKD hybrid incentive (UMW may be planning to manufacture as many CKD Toyota Camry Hybrid as they possibly can and continue to sell the stock into next year). For Honda City Hybrid, it will be a limited production run (if they want to do it), as they have to manufacture the conventional petrol powered City along side.

The MPS this time round might be the development of Skyactiv 4WD, and Skyactiv-GT (Gasoline Turbo?) as main focus, since they managed to conquer Skyactiv-G 14:1 ratio NA engines. laugh.gif

Honda Civic Type R uses RON98 minimum, but Malaysia only offer RON97. laugh.gif

Maybe, Mazda Malaysia won't bother bringing MPS in if only suitable to run on RON98 and above.

Some Shell station sell the red color V Power racing not RON98 ar? hmm.gif
*
Ford Mustang 2.3 ecoboost min RON91 can run, because they have to cater for their own RON92 (AKI 87) regular gasoline, or maybe RON95 (AKI 90) mininum for premium gasoline being sold over there. So, we can use these engines without problem since our petrol is RON95.

V Power Racing is RON97 for Malaysia, same as V Power, just some additional recipe.

Even the Skyactiv-G engine is downtuned to 13.0:1 to suit their regular gasoline.

The European 1.5L is downtuned 90PS to suit the European roadtax structure, which is taxed based on emission level, not cc. So, if the ECU is tuned to give as little petrol to burn as the engine possibly could possibly run on, the roadtax will be cheaper.

QUOTE(ssyycc @ Apr 20 2015, 05:30 PM)
So our Skyactiv G is 14:1 right?? Means if using RON97 will get lot of mileage compare with RON92?
Just wonder what is the recommended petrol to use now.
*
The car is designed to run using RON95. If the car engine is knocking, RON97 will help improve the power & torque figures. For mileage, it depends. If jam in city roads, then both will have the same FC; if travelling long distance at fixed speed, then it have very similar FC; if spirited driving, you won't look at FC and power all the way.

No point linking RON97 with FC, only link it with power & torque.

Vehicle Duty Tax Bands in UK (Yearly)
M2   89g/km  roadtax £0   = RM0
Saga 180g/km roadtax £335 = RM1807.07
*
Well.. Proton can only survive in Malaysia. No innovation, how to compete?

QUOTE(anttan @ Apr 20 2015, 07:08 PM)
Petrol and diesel which one better? What's the difference?
*
In terms of FC, diesel wins hands down. In terms of thermodynamics efficiency, diesel wins over otto (petrol). But, in terms of racing pedigree, petrol wins since it is easier to control the combustion in petrol engine at high rev, than diesel. Diesel needs to be turbocharged to get better drivability. If compare in terms of NA, petrol wins over diesel. Diesel needs steel engine block (heavier but stronger material strength) to accommodate its higher torque (explosion) and compression ratio (typically 15:1 to 20:1, but Mazda Skyactiv-D managed to reduce it to 14.0:1 so can use aluminum engine block), petrol can go with aluminum (lighter but less material strength). Diesel engine can be flooded with some water, and can still work, while petrol engine will cease to work completely. If run out of fuel, diesel need to be bled to let the air out after refuel in order to restart the engine, petrol can just fill and start.

Each has its own merits and drawbacks in their respective areas.

Diesel engine or any engine, cannot be flooded with water. U will have bent valves and maybe engine block with hole.
*
Not too much, but a little bit of water won't stop the engine as it is not using spark ignition, but compression ignition.

Of course, flooding the whole cylinder with a lot of water will bend the valves and cause cracking on the piston as well.

SGD2,220 is just the headlamp, but in order for that headlamp to work, the rest of the equipment are required, which brings up to a total of SGD3,204.00 + 7% GST = SGD3,428.28 = MYR9234.03. cry.gif blink.gif ohmy.gif shakehead.gif shocking.gif

+ Labour again?

Item 5 Sun Visor may not be required.

But a least better than MB E200 headlamps a pair for RM21k. Only headlamps.. New car price for MB RM370k / 3 = ~RM120k, about the price of a LED headlamp installed M2, so headlamp RM21k for MB / 3 = RM7k for a Mazda 2 LED headlamp.
