Update on the rattling sound from the passenger seat. As suggested by @rompers, I tried changing the seat to every other position-combination. However the sound is still there rclxub.gif

May try to solve it at SC during my 60k service, which will be another 1000km away from now.

Sorry to hear that unsure.gif

One last throw of the dice perhaps....
Try using both your eyes and hands to touch and feel if there are anything loose (especially the cables that translates the sliding mechanism of the chair). These cables are usually tied to the chair bottom cushion-frame, but may come loose due to lackadaisical installation during assembly or having been knocked loose by someone's feet (rear passenger) or any other item.

Previously running on Conti MC5 for about 2.5 years. Yes that tyre is comfy & quiet..but after about 30k km in mileage, not as quiet as before. But that maybe due to my damaged absorber (that eventually damaging the tyre..uneven tread). Anyway, the Mic Primacy 3 ST is better than Conti MC5 in my opinion in term of quietness. Some say the Yoko AdcanveDB tyres also good & quiet..but i cant comment on that coz haven't use it

And is the both front n back speakers 6.5 inches?
Front component, back coaxial??

Do you still use the original tweeter? or u added another pair on the top??

Yes the 6" modified out for better sound, stock hide inside which will cause the sound not so detail and clear, I didnt use my tweeter ady, using the 2" speaker on the pillar which modded

16"6
15"5.5

For offset, try your best to find the nearest one as compared to the stock offset of 48. The 16" rim with 5 studs (PCD 114.3) alone is quite hard to find, not to mention the one that perfectly match the JJ & offset specs. Mine using 16" rims with JJ 7 & offset 42..that's the closest specs that i managed to find last time for 16" rims.

hurting gearbox is yes and no as each gear have it's own ratio + 6th > 5th speed won't feel much....

One thing that's hurt is your own safety & others ppl safety... doh.gif

Generally, the ecu won't let you drop gears when your rpm is above 4k.

For offset, try your best to find the nearest one as compared to the stock offset of 48. The 16" rim with 5 studs (PCD 114.3) alone is quite hard to find, not to mention the one that perfectly match the JJ & offset specs. Mine using 16" rims with JJ 7 & offset 42..that's the closest specs that i managed to find last time for 16" rims.

thanks for your feedback. i will take note on this.
i have tried searching for 15" rims with 5 holes but most are less 'handsome' than our stock rims tongue.gif

Hi all,

Recently my kia forte 2011 started blowing warm air instead of the air con..problem is the air cond works sometimes, but it is slowly getting worse..

i got it checked at kia service centre and they suggested i have a look at the air compressor...the receptionist asked me to get it fixed outside cause it is cheaper..

so my question is..does anyone know a trustworthy and reliable place for me to get it fixed?
i live at bukit jalil, but return to kajang during the weekends...
i guess i can travel but may need it to be fixed within a day if not i can't go home..lol

thanks in advance!

how frequent do you wash your car ? DIY or send you shop ? What kinda of shop (premium centre, bangla shop or bawah pokok) ? What make you think you need polish or waxing ? Also your plan budget for this 'caring' ?

My Forte 1.6 year 2012 recently given problem like some times cannot start when you pressed the start button. When you press , all lights including check engines lights are on but unable to start even you press longer than what previous forum has mentioned the trick. I Have to release the hand break and pull the hand break again then can start like normal way.
I do not know it is due to break switch issue. if it is break switch issue, is this item still under warranty ? (my car is 2.5 years old with 5 years warranty) . if not under warranty, how much I need to pay ? or after changed this item, will be be back after next 2 years ?
Thank you

so coincidence.. so unlucky.. i just change my compressor.. to be exact.. the whole system.
kia service center quoted me RM3***, ask a few places, ori should get at around RM1200, recon at around RM700 to 800. (all without labor)
i eventually change at serdang auto (seri kembangan).
But my story is actually more than that, after dismantle then find out all condenser, cooling coil... etc unwashable.. all need to change. rclxub.gif
so the whole damage is about 3700.. cry.gif

one reason is i never service my aircond.. so good luck to you.. sweat.gif

IRC, totally charge from Puchong SC was only around RM1,200++

I don't know why yours cost so much.....RM3.7k is crazy.

My previous kancil, wira, avanza and now forte nvr servis aircond...
Just refill gas only...

Few tips frm my previous pomen :-
- Dun touch ur ekon if no prob
- When u start ur car, start frm lowest fan speed, let it be around 30sec - 1mins before full blast
- Dun use auto ekon frequently
- Off ekon, before off engine

No 2 is difficult to do... Normally i open car windows or start engine early, then lepak isap rokok dulu...

Then you are damn lucky! U must know wht is your RM1200 about! as i mention b4, mine 3.7k change almost all parts of the air cond: compressor, condensor, coiling coil..
personally i would say my forte really serve me so well. As we really cant complain when a car has been driven for more than 180k.. all wear and tear problems are coming, which would happen for all cars.

Me also..but mileage already 117k km. Thank God

By the way..i believe installing a good tinting film will ease the load of aircond system. Less heat = less load to aircond system which will prolong it's function..hopefully. When driving alone..i usually set 25-26C at day time which is cold enough for me. When driving with passengers, 24C will do

Uisshh..smell fishy here. Condensor & evaporator coil only needs cleaning for efficient cooling. No need to change it unless if it leaks. I believe that shop try to make extra money sweat.gif

probably.. cry.gif
according to them the tubing of condensor and cooling coil is too dark as it's severely damaged by the scraps from the friction of the parts inside compressor (spoil). even flushing would not 100% remove the scraps. and if i insist to change compressor without changing condenser and cooling coil, then the scraps will go into the compressor again and spoil it..
so this is how i jadi helpless.. rclxub.gif mad.gif cry.gif

hey guys, am wondering if you guys have any guides for Kia Forte front low beam aim adjustment manual or video or something?

Does the Kia Forte have horizontal and vertical adjustment?

I'm driving a Kia Forte 2011 - 6 speed and recently just made a replacement bulb with a workshop outside but he didnt seem to do a proper job.

The aiming of the replaced bulb is too low.

no adjustment require on reflector after bulb replacement. Check your bulb alignment.

Absolutely correct. Usually, misplacing the bulb is the main cause

Yup, had a check before I drove it to KIA SC @ Glenmarie.
It was indeed misaligned, drove there around 4:20pm though I know its near closing time.
But they adjusted the misaligned bulb and also did some adjustment.

I still believe that flushing + new compressor will do. Usually coils need to be changed only when it leaks. Also, aircond system has filter drier that will filter out large particles, scraps or whatsoever (that might cause harm to the whole aircond system). So, the most is flushing + change compressor + change filter drier should do the trick nod.gif

with great power comes great responsibility.. (altho i dun think forte is that powerful sangat pun..if compare to fellali, vtec most 2.0 cars.. hehe..) but still, if ur car manage to speed up access 150kmh easily, then be matured on the road.

Depending on how well your current stock battery is maintained, it may last up to 3/4 years.
Generally, car batteries can last pretty long if they are not left under hot sunny afternoons repeatedly (or drastic temperature variations) and if there are no exceptionally heavy loads (HIDs; ICE; etc.) to work on.

Damage was done..
Another thg all kia owners please be aware:
Recent service just find out the holders of my cabin filters were gone. Check with the workshop that change my whole air cond system but they don't admit. They say it's like that when they taken out the cabin filter (no holder). I only ever done my service at either kia center or korean carmates. Is the technician fr korean carmates point it out and i trust them more than the workshop. Cos they even forgot to screw back the nut on my steering!! Argue whole morning with the boss still dont want admit say no prove! SO Bi cHEH!!! vmad.gif

Mine is said to be weak, at a starting volt of 9.6V according to Glenmerie SC. So change sekali la. RM 360 for Bosch maintenance free battery. Got the car on March 2013. Usage for the past 1 year is heavy as I run average 700km a week. The stock DVD player plays every now and then as baby needs to watch DVD so that she doesn't cry.

Battery ada jaga. I don't start my car with headlamps on. Cabin lights sometimes are on. Meter light not at the max brightness. ICu screen is not at max brighness. But because of work location, the car is parked in open direct sunlight parking lot.

thanks for the info guys.. btw, mine dosent really show any signs of battery abt to die, yet..
i dont really play dvd player, at all.. just listen to the radio only.. not even using the gps too, as the stock gps is not working at all since i purchased the car. difficult to get satellite signal. but i just worry of cos, its almost 3 years old.. i remember my prev car (hyundai getz) battery last for abt 2 years before kaput. thats the stock factory battery of cos. hopefully will last for atleast a year, then by hook or by crook, i'll change the battery doesnt matter what.. smile.gif

a very strange incident just happened to my 2010 1.6SX Kia Forte.

start engine, air con cold. start moving, can feel air con getting hotter & hotter (eg. start with temperature 22°C, then slowly decrease until 19°C), still got cool air and not js fan blow air. then when stop for traffic light, can feel that the coldness drop. had to stop engine, start engine, then air con cold again.

went to workshop check, gas sufficient, fan running, tube no build up ice.

on the way back home from mechanic shop, frustrated and turn the temperature to hottest until 31°C and HI (I was thinking "let the air con spoil, then can replace whole unit. if not keep cold/no cold/cold/no cold very frustrating").

after a minute or 2, cannot stand the hot and adjust back to 22°C. since then, the air con has been behaving good, always cold whether car moving or stop at traffic light.

any of you face this problem before? izit because ice built up inside the pipe causing blockage, then the hot temperature got rid of the ice? still wana find a permanent long-term solution if possible.

Its located somewhere behind your USB port and yes you need to dismantle dashboard to access to it...its a flap that cover your cooling coil for it to distribute cold or hot air...Forte is a worldwide model where come with heater feature by default. Cant be disable.

Yupp..service outside SC is much cheaper

Though i still personally send my car to SC for normal scheduled service, but if involve common spare part changing (like absorber, brake pad etc), i will do it at my trusted outside mechanic coz it's much cheaper

hi guys, i couldn't start my car today. when tried to start, the dashboard lights all show up and keep blinking few times..tried at least twice then gave up.

I think the battery is kaput already, even the side mirror when flipping is slower...about 1 week ago I think got a similar symptom but i was able to start...

Is it recommended to change the battery at SC or call someone to come over to change it? If I have to change at SC then I need to jump start my car...(dont have cables but I can get them). Car is at home though, so not too bad...now driving my wife's car to work.

Any thoughts?

Change the battery at your convenience thumbup.gif Change the battery at SC is not a must..not to mention the price which is usually more expensive

I've changed my car battery two times. The first one i call for battery delivery & installation. The 2nd one, i jump start my car & drive to the battery shop wink.gif

Ok that's good to hear..the reason why I asked whether i should change at SC is cos last time when I asked the guy that deliver & install the battery for my other car, he said for Forte he can change it but suggest me to change at SC if possible cos he not so sure about the electronics part whether will cause any issues...

Is there anything I should take note or be concerned about for the electronics ?

I still remember the person who deliver the battery last time used the new battery itself to jump start my car without any problem. He just connect the new battery to the old battery (terminals) using jump cable & start my car successfully. Then he change the battery while the engine is still running. Actually he did this by my request to preserve the radio & time settings wink.gif Nothing bad happens to my car electronics..so i believe it's safe to do that way

best place to get battery is battery shop. SC do carry battery but limited model and price is marked up...

when a new battery slot in, no need jump start.

Question. Is both your car and wife car 1st time owning it ? If now how did you change the cars battery perviously ?

Is about LUCK.

Chemistry reaction in the battery is un-measurable...some even said if you drive alot at night where light is ON, the battery die faster too...cost higher recharging cycle.

Then I have 2 factors that my bateri should die quickly...
- Panas enjin twice a week n drive 1-2 times per mth
- Always drive a lot at night to avoid speed trap

But still not die faster...

Less driving can prolong battery life span.
Speeding at night doesn't link to battery life span...just mechanical part wear faster...

but the 2 statement is contradicting ...

For statement 1
During weekdays, use my kapchai to travel to ofis
During weekend, use my wife's car for short distance
Unable to use my car coz double parking.
My car in front, my wife car at back.
Too hassle to reverse both.
Therefore, my car only panas enjin twice a week

For statement 2
In a year, there're few times holiday like :-
- school holiday 4 times
- hari raya 2 times
- short public holiday 2-3 times

Above is time where I used my car to balik kg at Kedah.
To achieve 3 hrs frm KL, I need to travel often at night

It's possible.
However, there is also a chance of your mobile phone signal interfering if you are one whom usually keep your Keyfob and Mobile Phone close together.

Recommendation for battery brand? What is your budget or what is the brand available the most to you within your convenient distance ?

Duplicate key would cost around Rm11xx i believe, no way to disable the key as your system only recognise both key with SAME DNA.

If you worry, replace the whole system and get two new keys. Price would be double of duplicating a key.

got quote from SC it would cost about rm600++ for 1 key (just their estimate), they will remove that old key code from your car computer and replace it with the code of new one.. but i'm lucky this time found d key alrd just in d house suspect that this was the job of my 9mths old daughter as she is playing with my pouch all the time.. if not will be llike sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif

hi guys, im deciding between a vios and forte for a daily driver.
getting a used unit, budget below 50k so im looking at 1.6 sx 6-speed model 2010-2011.
ive driven the car for a few days and i liked it.

want to ask fellow forte owners - anything i need to be worried about owning this car? issues with engine and gearbox? any commonly known problems with the car?

thanks guys!

Nothing to be worried about.
Like g88 mention, the usual wear and tear.
Whats the mileage for the car?

Take it to KIA service center to have a check up if you're worried before making the purchase.

Had the same problem. The smart key ECU died eventually.
Sent to SC for warranty claim. They fitted a new ECU and it behaved oddly too.
Diagnostic tool detected voltage spike in the alternator. So they took that out and dismantled it.
Found the bearing inside is rough. Suspected that the roughness is causing spikes.
Changed out the bearing and put the alternator back in. End up all ok after that.

i checked with supplier just now for idemitsu 5w30 fully syn.
can get around 120.  smile.gif
*
Bro Craxors, where is this Supplier?
Also, is it confirmed that it is Fully-Synthetic Original Idemitsu 4ltr/btl?
As far as I'm aware, the price range of RM80~140 is usually for Semi-Synthetic Oil.
However, I may be wrong as I'm not entirely familiar with the Idemitsu brand.
So, if I'm salah..tolong jangan marah yea.. tongue.gif

At first flickring..after 3 minit no display at all. Cannot power on.
Sent to SC, they sent to Naza Galaxy and the techician said it was the connector problem
Charged Rm40 for courier cost. Alter installed back, last for 2 days only. Then kong again.
Any idea what was the problem? Cannot wait for 2 weeks again for the headunit to be sent of to KL.

Thinking to get new one.. . but still no budget...

Website says IDEMITSU Singapore.
Does that mean the price is in SGD?

SGD 120/4ltr bottle?

If it really is RM 120+- for a 4ltr bottle, may I ask how or if I can trouble you in getting it?
Or would you know which part of JB should I go to for these lubricant?

I assume that they are really original and not knock-offs/pirated smile.gif

Guys I've a question for those whom have changed their headlight bulbs to the PHILIPS or OSRAM brands...

My H7 (low beam headlights) just blown a couple of days ago.
I'm trying to decide what brand & model bulbs to buy.

Been doing a fair amount of read-up, and it seems like the PHILIPS X-Treme Vision +130 3700K and the PHILIPS CrystalVision 4300K are the standouts among the other make and models..

Question:
a) Does anyone here have any personal (or friend's experience) with either of the above PHILIPS bulbs? If you do, do kindly share with me here smile.gif

b) Do you know of any other Brands/Models that you may have used personally?

My desire for the replacement light bulbs are:
1) Longer light cone/light cone distance.
2) Brighter lights (hint of White would be nice). In other words, preference given to bulbs with >3700K, but still legal without much trouble from the police.

Been doing my service at NSS Glenmarie, a little bit lacking here and there but still decent enough to go back there since it's near to Subang which is where i stay so i go back there. You can try once and decide for yourself.

Here in Alor Setar, SC for me is competent enough for servicing & repairing. But of course, if you not staying in the northern states, it is not worth to come here for servicing or whatsoever...

Been happily going to KOREAN INTERNATIONAL AUTOMOTIVE for nearly 4 years now. Location Sunway Damansara Technoogy Park (near The Curve & Kota Damansara).

They are authorised Naza Kia service centre. The chief mechanic is well versed in Kia cars. They even called me when there was a minor recall for Forte 2.0 maybe 2 or 3 years ago.

Initially went to Setapak SC but the service manager (Mr. Arul) left & the quality of service dropped badly.

Highly recommend KOREAN INTERNATIONAL service centre.

I will recommend NSS glenmarie. Even though they have rooms for improvement, they do care about their customer's feedback and willing to work for it the better of it. So far had good experience with them and they are one of my trusted SC.

No marketing. Just that I feel they deserve some good words after helping me in fixing my car.

It is possible , but it takes longer (time wise) to change the bush and the ball joints than changing the completely new whole lower arm. And the price difference is not that much. I am thinking of changing the lower arm even though SC told me that only the bush is cracked.

thats the same price as 1.6sx (same brake system). After market tonnes of brand and grade...that have to 'try' to find out...if u prefer original, SC will highly recommend.

U just buy the original brake pad at spare part shop & install @ outside workshop. Much2 cheaper. I did it for RM190 only including labor. I did post about this in v20 thread.

Bro g88 suggestion is a must do especially if u use an aftermarket or a high flow air filter. Dirty throttle body might contribute to your problem as per your description. Else, MAP sensor malfunction might be another possible cause as it happen to me last time. I did post about this some months ago..u might search my posts for it

Agree with you cause I think my right side bumper clip near the tyre seems loose dy. Abit fragile now. Can the removal of the bodykit be done on any workshop and the clip, can SC check and suggest what can be done?

I'm experiencing similar scenario, but I'll try and refit the Bodykit instead of removal.
Do be reminded that by removing the front skirt, your car will look a little awkward as the Rear and Side Skirts are still intact.
However I do agree with you that sometimes it is a real irritation to see the bumper fitment compromised due to the Front Skirt.

Yes, a number of screws on each tyre well, along with 4 more on the underside (bottom of the Skirt).
Do be very careful whilst removing the Skirt from the Bumper as the Double Sided Tapes may be strong enough to loosen your Bumper fitment while you are in the process of removing/pulling.

Highly recommended for you to use a Spatula/Unused Credit or Plastic Card to gently separate the bond before removal.

Anyone here got the aircond water sound problem?
Diagnosed by KIA JNS that cooling coil area dirty and needs to be cleaned.
Total cost is RM800 for the service. Have to leave the car for 2 days and dashboard have to be removed.

What do you guys think? just bring it to KIA or outside aircond service mechanic will be good enough to do the job.

Find a reputable outside aircond shop will do. Doing it at SC is more expensive. By the way, what do u mean by "aircond water sound problem"?

Just sent my car for 120k km service @ SC..cost me RM868.50 after excluding engine air filter (i use Simota stainless steel air filter that can be cleaned easily & no need to replace) & cabin air filter (which i've change it by myself). 120k km service is the most expensive one in the entire service cycle for Forte

I just done my 60K service recently. It cost me RM1,042.85 (after 10 5 discount due to Hari Raya) with the air cond service (their air cond service just changed the filter (in front of water cooling system and the filter inside the glove) the and refill the gas) . From my observation, the expensive is their labour charges.
Thank you

I think i am going to try outside aircond mechanic first. RM800 is just too expensive to service. Even to the extent of removing dashboard... i feel RM800 is too much.... haha
aircond water sound problem is something like after you drive for a while your aircond air flow will become slow and not cold anymore.
then as human we will full blast the aircond.... and when you fullblast.... you can hear water sound.... and the water will come out from the drain pipe under your car like paip air.... like something tersekat and the water cannot flow out causing your airflow to be blocked.

For 120k km service, it should include engine air filter (RM76.98) & cabin air filter (RM41.96). But since i use a Simota stainless steel air filter (no need to replace) & DIY changing the cabin air filter, so i exclude these item in the service list. All in all should be RM987.44.

This only apply to Forte 4-speed. Forte 6-speed will cost more because the ATF price is doubled.

Nope..120k km service is more expensive becoz the need to change the ATF. At 60k km, no need to change the ATF

Yes. I can opt to exclude aircond service but warranty will be void if there is warranty claim on air cond later . Unless you are not bother. Moreover, some how we need to service the air cond as changing the whole system is very costly.

There's no need to change the whole system. If evaporator leaks, only change evaporator, if condenser leak, only change condenser etc. Unless many AC parts leak & broken at the same time, then it worth to change the whole system. For me, i just top up the refrigerant (when AC feel not so cool) & also change the filter dryer from time to time as it will degraded over time. The cabin AC filter also need to be changed regularly.

For the AC warranty, u are right. You better do it (AC service) to retain the AC warranty (especially a car with a 5 year warranty). My car only covered by a 2 year warranty, so by the time i send my car for 60k km service, the warranty already expired. So the SC cant 'force' me to do AC service anymore tongue.gif

Look at the gear lever, if it is a gated shift, it should be a 4-speed forte. If it is a straight shift one, that should be a 6-speeder...

I suggest u not to change to the stock tires anymore. Many gave not so good feedback about it.

I've used Continental ContiMax Contact MC5 before & currently running on Michelin Primacy 3 ST. I must say that the Mic is better between the two especially in term of quietness. Now already running more than 30k km with the Mic & the quietness is still there. Last time running on Conti, the tires gradually became noisy past 20k km. Cant give feedback on other tires though until i use it by myself

Forgot to mention that i'm using 16" (205/55 R16) tires actually. So the price might differs quite a lot from the 17" one (215/45 R17). I bought the tires at Alor Setar at a price of RM398/tire (no GST that time).

I bought rear abs before for RM130/pc (RM260/set) at spare part shop at Segambut. Bought original one made in Korea by Mando. So total RM290 for changing the rear abs including labor.

Front abs i bought it for RM350/set at spare part shop here in Alor Setar. Also bought original one made in Korea by Mando. All in all..it cost me RM390 to replace the front abs including labor.

Changing spare parts at NazaKia SC will cost us a bomb. We can save RM more than half if changing it outside (buy the spare parts on your own). For instance, changing front abs at SC will cost us RM9xx..ridiculous i must say. The only thing that i stick to SC is the normal scheduled service. Other than that, i will do it outside

My rim cheap one & look so-so only. Seganlah nak kasi close-up blush.gif

Overall, 16" rim looks not as good as the 17" one on our car. I used 16" tires mainly for comfort driving. So need to compromise on how it looks...

Yes, your are right, recently i also change almost whole suspension parts include front n rear set absober, original absober bush front and rear, front absober mounting, tie rod, rack end, front suspension link, stabilizer bar bush, front left right lower arm, water pump and thermostat. Bought all original parts from segambut spare part shop, and do at outside workshop, the cost is really cheaper a lot compare to SC. tongue.gif

Look at the gear lever, if it is a gated shift, it should be a 4-speed forte. If it is a straight shift one, that should be a 6-speeder...

hey, i am using maxxis tires.
i wouldn't recommend it as it is a directional tire, due to the threading pattern.
the ones that i am using now are giving me problems where my car tends to swerve to the left if i do not hold my steering wheel.
i suggest bi-directional tyres.

Not sure if the following will be useful to you:

Michelin Primacy 3ST (215/45/R17) @ RM 415~435/pc

I scouted the above at a Tyre Shop (can't remember the name) close to the round-a-bout (the one at the entrance to Desa Park City). That was around February 2015.

If you get a well serviced and maintained car, is worth it but I kinda agree is a bit on high side. Guess the margin for the dealer is still good

Dear all brother/sister,

I got a very serious question need you all advice here.
My forte car 1.6 already 4 years old, out of warranty.
I need to service my car at outside dealer.
But, where do I find the Service Package? Things need to change or repair? From where I can get the information?
Normally we can get it from Service center, they will let me know what will service on certain mileage. But, where should I get those info since I don't go service center anymore?
My car millage is 140k km need to service.
Pls advice. Thanks lot.

1. Continue with SC
2. Back to your regular workshop of your previous car else ask your family member/friend where they service their car too.

If nothing major, a interval schedule of change engine oil and filter will do...

Thanks for ur reply. That's why I ask if there some parts need to change or service, I need to know the details. I will not go to Kia service center again to service my car bcos outside dealer is much more cheaper. But outside dealer don't have the sechedule of major or minor service.
Whr can I get the service details? Thanks

SC schedule only upto 120K km. What you can do is dig back your old service sheet and refer to it. It a repeat process

Hello yukioli..
Click on the link below (directing you to KIA Vancouver, Canada webpage) for the generic Maintenance Schedule:
http://www.kiavancouver.com/KiaMaintenance.html

Typically, one may or may not follow the schedule to its entirety. However, it would still be a pretty useful guideline.

Perhaps the moderator could help place the Maintenance Schedule image (instead of the link, in case the webpage gets revamped/moved) onto the Forum sticky smile.gif

But above is for Canada... not sure applicable to Msia or not...
Easy way just go to SC and ask what item need to be replaced...
Then go back service outside lorrr...

This is my "outside w/shop" schedule maintenance. Pls take note that I'm using semi syn engine oil :-

Item 1
- replace engine oil
- replace oil filter
- clean air filter

Item 2
- replace air filter
- replace ekon filter
- replace plugs
- replace auto trans fluid
- flush & replace entire coolant

Item 3
- replace v-belt
- ekon servis

Item 4
- replace auto trans filter
- replace water pump
- replace fuel filter
- flush & replace entire brake fluid

Every 5k km interval : item 1
40k km : item 1,2
80k km : item 1,2,3
120k km : item 1,2,4
160k km : item 1,2,3
200k km : item 1,2
240k km : item 1,2,3,4
280k km : item 1,2
320k km : item 1,2,3
360k km : item 1,2,4
400k km : item 1,2,3

More than that xde sbb kete dah jual...

The rest like absorber, brake pad, wiper, bush, lower arm, stabilizer link, etc etc depends on item condition. No specific mileage. Replace when near faulty.

So those 1.6sx without navigator is old version / or they cheat?
Only 2.0 come with leather seat. The table seems expensive. The warranty still valid if service outside? Haha
I saw alot 2012 or 2013,wondering why they sell..

i think can check with sc. they can check for u for the service records. and if there still under warranty or not.

FC...depends on driving style and area. more jam more cepat habis la....
mine 2.0..for each full tank, can reached 500km going and back from work.
if balik kg, can reached 650km.
i drive sopan santun thou. wub.gif

btw...FC for C segment car... and forte is 1300kg weight.... what do u expect. rolleyes.gif

Just call SC and ask by providing car plate number can ady?500km is city n Highway? I heard Highway is super nice but city sucks alot Haha.. Living city got jam daily. My 1.6 10yrs car give 10-11km per lit manual.. City around 10km/l is acceptable.. Now just want to know the spare parts /maintenance cost and reliability only..

my area not so much jam going and back from work. few traffic lights only. i think city area get less km/tank.

maintenance cost.... for service; can referred to table up there lah.
but..if u service outside..much much lower.
spare parts... outside, also much much lower.

front absorber in sc cost 500/side. 1k for both include pasang.
outside shop... got 400/both...350/both... 155/both. what brand/type, i honestly dont know. laugh.gif

No way to fix this. But i went to one sifu, all he did was reversed my front wheels (the rotation is now backwards) and the car is able to move in a straight line. Only down side is my steering wheel feels abit heavier and I get a wider turn.

Just for the sake to test won't charge one. From the day I tested drive in Setapak SC I already refused to go back this SC. The service is just too poor.

Am going to Batu Cave SC now. Even though it's small, but the service is good. The boss always greet customers. There is discount card also. Quite happy with this SC.

I used Marathoner also..the 2nd unit actually. All perfectly run well. I'm happy with this battery becoz it last for 3 years before. So i keep loyal with the same battery.

Maybe yours got defect..or perhaps wrong battery model (lower amperage) is being used.

3 - cross rotate tyre + alignment & balancing
4 - apparently the glovebox cannot be repair and new one cost is rm666.  sweat.gif  (anyone got source for cheaper solution?)
5 - ask them to chk the mdps coupling thingy; changed. item cost is rm4.50. workmanship cost = RM95, ONLY  blink.gif

btw...later 6pm go take car and bayar and see the bill. still..it seem to good to be true.........  hmm.gif

No way, it's not easy to dismantle it.

QUOTE(David83 @ Nov 5 2014, 08:18 PM)
Just sharing my story as my problem with the "tak-tak" sound when turning the steering solved.

Initial suspect by both SCs was lower universal column assembly. The 2nd SC changed this part but sound still emits. Since problem still persists, the SA changed the part back without any charge. Original part from KIA on this part costs RM 660.82

Next, service adviser suspected that upper universal column assembly got problem. Original part from KIA for this part costs roughly RM 5.5k plus. I asked the SC to find for 3rd party and the cheapest he is able to source is RM 4400. Changed the part and viola, sound gone. Sound emitted from the section circled in green colour.

Service adviser said that this upper universal column assembly seldom changed and it's his first time of changing it. He said that I'm the unlucky one. He also asked if my car got hit by accident or not.

Two to three weeks ago, my battery dead and changed that to for RM 340.

Feel free to comment.  I'm really speechless. laugh.gif

Oh shit. This thing happen to me now. When i turning the steering to left on uneven road I could hear "tak tak" sound seems something is loose.

Sifu.... help me.... Don't tell me I have to pay 5k to change this part? Is it under warranty ?

as well, Where can I change my gear leather ? cry.gif

It's better that you sent to authorized service centre for inspection. Mine is definitely out of warranty. My car is manufactured in 2010.

If you're that "lucky", you'll be asked to change the lower universal column assembly only. The price for original part is RM RM 660.82

Otherwise, you'll have to change for upper universal column assembly. This part is very expensive and its price tag is heaven price. Original part costs RM 5500+ but if you can sacrifice for warranty, you can go for OEM or 3rd party part which about RM 1k cheaper. It is up to you to decide.

The authorised service centre that I went is kind enough not to charge anything for the first attempt of changing the upper universal column assembly. Since the problem still persisted and part was returned and proceed for the change of the lower universal column assembly.

Some forumer quoted me as foolish to bring it back to authorized service centre or service centre for troubleshooting. If you're at Klang Valley, perhaps you may have better option to go specialized Korean cars workshops.

Good luck, bro and update us on your problem.

OT: Now, I may need to change the front absorber. Service charge quoted for me RM 300+ on two pairs of two assemblies.

the black screen only occurs when playing that video file only or other video files too?

maybe you want to try with other 720p and 480p video files first?

last time my DVD player could only play the audio while the display was black with a message something like "ENJOY YOUR MUSIC WHILE DRIVING". went to Naza Auto Solution and let them do the updates and now it can play video brows.gif

Tensioner isn't part of maintenance
Replace when ur engine got 'tak tak' sound
No sound no need to replace

Thank you so much for your help. Its working perfectly fine now.

Btw, anyway to change my reverse camera to display on the screen? Instead of my rear mirror?

Hi Forte Sifu,

Please take a look at my DVD player. I bought this car but I never use the video feature before.
So when i tried to play a video, It seems like not working... Just a black screen.

I use the video format as per instructed by guideline in book still not able to load.

Any sifu could assist?  cry.gif

Bro...if i'm not mistaken u are playing mp4 format. to play dvd your must convert it to dvd format first. You can download a video codec and then convert the format from mp4 to dvd using window dvd maker.

Let me know if it solves the problem... brows.gif

Hi All,
Anyone knows how to remove the covers of the fog lamp?
I think i got the wires broken after the bumper hit a bump.
Now the effected fog lamp is not working.
Need to open it to reconnect the wires i guess.

I've been using Michelin PS3 for two years. Only changed the front two tyres after around 60,000km. Now price around RM400/tyre. Might be able to find cheaper.

Else go for Continental MC5.

Maybe you can try to check the car is register under that company or private user. If that car register under that naza, means that car is a company demo car from NAZA, salesman use to drive this demo car on site to serve and demo car to customer.

guys, my car is forte 2012 2.0, recently i have the issue whereby the steering has no reaction when steer to left with speed over 90 kpmh.

Brought it to SC for inspection, based on the device scan report, it stated that the power supply over supply power to the MDPS resulted steering malfunction. They replaced the battery and after a few days of testing, the issue seems resolved. The SC claimed that the battery i'm using is not compatible and shouldn't use in forte 2.0. However, the battery was previously replaced by SC and not from third party.

The issue really dangerous and nearly causing accident during highway drive.\

Do you guys think the SC diagnosis make sense ?

Hello guys

I have just recently joined the Forte family rclxm9.gif

Now my car has a problem. The driver side air cond seems to be blowing only normal air while the other vents are blowing cold air as they should. Anyone have experienced this before? If this is a known problem, is the fix covered by warranty? (car is still under basic warranty)

I met this issue twice this year, every time when it happens, i make the trick by change the temperature to 27 or 28 for few second, so the hot air come out, then change back to 25 or 24 Celsius, then the driver side air cond back to normal , u may give it a try, im not sure about the warranty

*
may i know how much does it cost per pair ? is it from authorized service center ?

Hi, just to share my experience last Saturday went to Kia SC Puchong for 100k service.
The technician replaced my blown stop/brake light bulb and 3rd brake light bulb without asking me first.\

When I see the bill, was shown 2 pcs stop light bulb total RM 50.60 and 3rd brake light bulb RM6.40.
I asked them to replace back the blown one because the brake light bulb is selling at RM 0.80 ~ RM 3.00 outside only. End up i replace myself with Philips bulb cost RM3 each.

How can the SC sell so high for such a normal bulb?!! Even if original imported from Korea also wont cause so much!!! I guess.... vmad.gif
How can I make complaint to this SC??

Last time this SC used to provide good service and good refreshment.
BUt dunno why this year onwards, the service dropped and the refreshment area is like useless (ROSAK) and the plain water with sfunny taste. Really dissapointed with this SC used to be my favourite SC. sad.gif

If you notice, with tyre on in the boot, there a difference of heights cause by tyre in the middle itself. The EVA material is soft type material which is ok when there's flat platform to support it.
Original tray I got quoted is RM320.. sigh

My forte 4 yrs old, recently heard sound from driver side (not sure from dashboard / engine side) when pass through a bump / uneven surface road. Sound like ‘gok gok’ sound. Anybody facing this issue before?

Most rubber part will become harden after a few years which are unavoidable. Check the suspension mounting.

There is a "loyalty program" going on now. Rebate RM3000. thumbup.gif

Hi All,
Am planning to get a pre-owned Forte 2.0. Surveyed one today and it was manufactured in the year 2013 and selling for RM62k. Is this a good price? Furthermore the previous owner changed the sports rim. Does this void the warranty of the car? And also how do I check whether the warranty of the car is still valid?

Check service record. 62K seem reasonable but depend on condition and mileage.
