yea..tink gonna call Dell's SA & ask. u bought 5 months ago got i dont..not fair sad.gif hehe..anyone knows how much is a 1 GB 667Mhz RAM cost r? planning 2 upgrade oso..maybe we can buy 2 gether in bulk..cheaper  biggrin.gif

well..there are lotsa laptop carrying bag brands out there >> Targus, Dicota, High Sierra & even Nike. can search for them it online or go to stores like Tear Proof in Midvalley..lotsa choices there. tink for I6400..better get a backpack..kinda heavy..sure gonna hurt ur shoulder if get those sling bags. can go to Trade Zone in LYN to search for the bags..saw a few selling..price are reasonable too. i'm using a Targus now..bought from Dell last time. smile.gif

eh guys..anyone here plays Need For Speed? NFS : Carbon is out in States ady..wonder does Intel's graphic card can supprt the game..u guys have any idea? can play Most Wanted on mine last time but on low settings...
*
Did you provide them a valid email address when you ordered? When order, my dad use his own email address. But later after I received my laptop for around 1 month, I sent an email to ask for the warranty extension quotation but I didn't upgrade it that time. I also use my email to ordered the bluetooth module. I think that's why they got my email to send the offer to me.

It is very expensive for the 1GB 667Mhz, need RM400++. Last time heard that the price just RM270 only doh.gif I'm in Australia right now, will only upgrade the RAM next year when I go back. If that time you still not yet upgrade, then we can ask more user to buy bulk together to get cheaper price.

I doubt the Intel graphic card can support the game. MW also need to set it as low setting only can play, Carbon.. sweat.gif sweat.gif

Ok, when u say 1 + 1 or 2 + 2, meaning wat? 1 + 1 = 2 years extension? 2 + 2 = 4 years extension? Pls clear my doubts... thanks!!!
hmm... what is the procedure to purchase the warranty extension?

btw, I'm thinking to upgrade to 2x1GB 667Mhz also... same like u, the price is holding me back now... Currently using 2x512MB 667Mhz and it is really not enuff for me as a programmer, few browsers, few type of databases loaded and few IDEs will make my pc like turtle... So, a piece of advise to all, if yr budget allow, always go for 2GB RAM...  drool.gif  drool.gif
*
Just send them an email to the address stated in the mail. They will reply you and give you the info how to extend it.

At least you are using 667Mhz, mine one just 533Mhz. Although compare to my friend's laptop, centrino + 512MB ram, mine is very fast but still not enough for me. Sometimes open 20++ pages, mp3, msn, bt, emule, word, excel together, the laptop already lag like hell. Used VMware also a bit lagging, compare to my school lab desktop, p4 3.0HT, 1GB ram, the desktop is so smooth when run the VMware sweat.gif

1 year Next Business Day + 1 year Complete Cover - Price : RM 340.00
2 year Next Business Day + 2 year Complete Cover - Price : RM 530.00

ok , that mean for Rm340 package , u are actually covered under Next business day warranty ( Limited Warranty ) & Completecover warranty ( full covereage)

If ur notebook spoilt , hdd kong , dell will replace the hdd for u , no matter how many times it spoilt , so this is considered as limited warranty , and

by the meanwhile ,

Completecover warranty is ,

Any unintentionally accident is covered. LIke light striking , jatuh longkang , water spill , drop
For an example ,

if ur notebook  tongue.gif "drop"  tongue.gif from high place , semua habis , hdd kong , processor dead , mobo rosak , LCD spoilt , chassis rosak , ur notebook is entitled for a replacement . U will receive a new notebook within 2-3weeks depend on the Customer care department

So , overall ,

except theft , ur notebook is covered by dell warranty . rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif

If I accidently press the LCD screen too hard, the LCD crack or spoiled, will it cover by the complete cover warranty?

QUOTE(shean @ Nov 1 2006, 04:50 PM)
They offered me complete cover... On site warranty somemore if im not mistaken!
IS RM3++ ONLY! Still fresh in my mind! ARGGHH.... wasted i dunno anything bout laptop!  doh.gif
*
shocking.gif shocking.gif So cheap and you didn't get it sweat.gif Sure very regret right now... That time when I ordered my 6400, my dad asked me whether want to upgrade others thing or not, I said no need because it is not my money. Should upgrade the dvdrw and truelife. Now so jealous to see those glossy LCD screen doh.gif

Meaning 1 year extension for RM340 and 2 years extension for Rm530. Why dont they just put 1 year NBD & Complete Cover and 2 years NBD & Complete Cover? 1 + 1 and 2 + 2 is real confusing ppl, 1 + 1, I tot is 2 yrs extension for RM340.  shocking.gif  shocking.gif
What is the email address you sent?

Really, 2GB RAM will have a lot more smoother when u doing hardcore multi-tasking.
*
Yup. It is 1 year NBD and complete cover. It sure make people confuse, I wonder why they don't just direct state it as 1 year complete cover... why must NBD + complete cover. Complete cover already cover all NBD warranty, no point to state there NBD again sweat.gif doh.gif

For more info for the warranty extension, see the spoiler.

Yeah, 2GB RAM really serve me better. But too bad 6400 can't support more, if not probably will get 4GB directly drool.gif drool.gif

If I got the money, will go for the latest and fastest technology. Especially the RAM, always not enough for me.

I believe that 6400 is not support up to 4GB, the maximum just 2GB, it stated there in dell website for 6400 info.

My case worst than you guys. The laptop did not shut down when I press the power button. I thought it was shut down so I put it in backpack, and cycle back home. When I reach home, take out the laptop, only knew that it did not shut down...sad.gif

No shut down. The system just hang. I set it won't standby or hibernate for at least 30mins or above. I cycle back home just need around 15mins that's why it still on when i reach home. Lucky the hd nothing.

Got another time even worst, I put my laptop on the bed, then forgot and carry the bed one side up, the laptop just slip down from my bed to the floor, laptop is on and playing mp3 that time doh.gif Lucky my blanket slip down together and the laptop is on top of the blanket.

After this two incident, my laptop still functioning properly, hdd no bad sector, 6400 really road ready i think sweat.gif

erh... my battery also le.. just test it out just now... off acc the battery dropped to 95%... sad.gif sob sob... my battery got problem? normally how does 6-cell battery last? mine like... use to surf wireless net for about 1.5 hours ++ only... is that normal?
*
Mine drop till 99% after turn off AC sweat.gif

Depends on what other processes u open, LCD brightness, speaker volumn, etc. All will affect the battery usage time. I turn the brightness to level 2, speaker off, suft wireless net, can use around 2.5-3 hours.

It is possible.

With quickset, you can set it to just enable just btooth or just wifi or both.

Without quickset, you can only set it to enable wifi, cause you can disable your btooth software.
*
Not really. Without quickset, still can set it in the BIOS.

I set the fn+F2 key to switch on the wifi+bt together and password lock in the BIOS. In quickset, it stated there locked at BIOS, not allowed me to change it. So I just use fn+F2 key to turn wifi on and off, bluetooth manager to turn bt on and off. If both wifi and bt on, I use fn+F2 to switch off, both will off.

You go upgrade the RAM to 2gb for your 6400, then do a format for it and compare again. I'm sure your 6400 do multitasking can win your desktop.

what about single tasking?

IMO, I think single tasking his desktop better than the laptop. Because laptop did not use the full speed of the processor like desktop does. And the process speed of his desktop is faster than the laptop processor.

Correct if I'm wrong.

That time my father help my gf bought the 640m, it is doing exactly same like online, just online we use mouse to tick, pc fair we use pen to tick only. And some offer that online can upgrade, pc fair cannot. That time if order online, 640m can upgrade the sound card to sound blaster, but pc fair not allowed to upgrade, only can choose the default intel sound. Even a mouse also don't want to free, how to get ram, burner or delivery sweat.gif doh.gif

Hey guys, I remember Prasys having a sounddriver for the Sigmatel on board soundcard

I don't see it in the first page.. is it possible to link it together with all the recent updates?

Kudos to Prasys smile.gif

note : my Dell notebook has had a keyboard replacement and awaiting HDD replacement. Their customer service is indeed top notch, I'm in the UK btw.
*
Last time I asked the customer service, they said UK does not cover by the complete cover warranty. You change your keyboard and HD at UK? Change on the spot?
