maybe we can use msn/yahoo messenger to chat? i believe most of the 6400's owner also use messenger. then we all can have a conversation together.

let me start first, yen_sen1985@hotmail.com

i quit irc long time ago. don't like to use it.

haha...if we all use msn then this thread wil be dead ler...besides...not all of us might be comfortable giving out our msn contact...then not all of us will benefit from our discussion??
*
it depends. saw some forum still very active although they use msn to chat. because the msn conversation just schedule for sometimes only. maybe once a week so other time, the forum still active.

QUOTE(calvin_gsc @ Oct 25 2006, 08:03 PM)
we can try to create a mirc chatroom.

I downloaded mirc but don't know how to use. Don't know how to create a channel for us.
*
haha...i quit irc after i graduate my secondary sch. last time got my own channel, just same class friend can enter tongue.gif

quite troublesome to create a channel, don't like to use it because got a lot of advertisment, very annoying.

Well, not underneath it of course, but inside it. On the far left side of the 6400, there is the CPU heatsink and fan. And I believe it sucks out air to the bottom vents.
*
no. it sucks out air to the behind vents. the bottom vent is used to sucks air in also. try turn on the fan to high speed by using ik8fangui, then put your hand on the beside, bottom and behind vents, you will know the different.

wow , it is an attractive price ....

May 2006. Yes, it is quite worth the price.

QUOTE(popiah04 @ Oct 27 2006, 05:49 PM)
guys, i wanna ask, is paying rm530 to get the additional 2 years warranty really worth it? i'm talking about those with 1 year warranty cover. "complete cover" is the most complete package? last time i read somewhere in this forum that there's 2 package offered by dell. can someone elobarate a little regarding this? thanks
*
You also receive the mail from dell? Offer you to upgrade your warranty, right? For me i think it is worth and I going to upgrade it. Look at the mail properly, it is 1 year next business day + 1 year complete cover. I think dell offer 2 kind of warranty, 1 is complete cover, another 1 is limitted warranty which not complete cover some damage.

go to task manager and look at processes, those EvtEng, RegSrvc, WLKeeper, S24EvMon, ifrewrk, ZCfgSvc processes are belong to it, and they consume close to 40MB resource if i'm not mistaken rclxub.gif
*
I know those processes, I knew it for long time ago. Tried to disable them before and change to windows wifi manage. But I changed it back because I like the Intel Wifi's GUI than windows.

Will 40MB recourses improve the system performance a lot?

QUOTE(lazo @ Oct 27 2006, 09:19 PM)
At dell website upgrade to 3 years is rm550
the promotion is upgrade 2 more years for rm530

just 30 ringgit different =.=
*
That's for a new system. If you are not getting a new 6400, you won't get RM550 offer. Check the warranty extension on dell website, it stated there,

1 Year CompleteCover With NBD(8x5) Onsite Response(Parts + Labour) Extension 536.00

2 Years CompleteCover With NBD(8x5) Onsite Response(Parts + Labour) Extension 936.00

If you use this to calculate, it is 936-530 = 406 ringgit different.

If I'm not mistaken, steven extend his warranty before. Steven, can you please let us know what is the price that dell offer to you last time for the warranty extension?

For me , last time was Rm410 For 1 yr CC and Rm800 for 2yrs CC extension....
*
Thanks for the info. So confirm this offer from dell is really worth the price. Definitely I'll take it.

Btw, should put this as a note at the FAQ, let others know that getting the 3 years CC when ordering their 6400 is always cheaper than extend it later.

Because even though dell offer the price for the warranty extension is cheap but compare to the price when I order my 6400, it is still a bit expensive. Around RM4xx something that time, and now I extend it for RM530.

It's purchased like buying a dell system. You need to enter your service tag id too.

bro, your link is not working shakehead.gif And I don't think the dell website one is the same as the dell email's offer. The price is different.

I think you make a mistake. The website you gave, is different than the email I receveied. The website stated there RM9xx for 2 years complete cover extension. The offer that dell gave me, just RM530 only. I think some user get the offer, some not. Maybe because I order mine for 1 year complete cover only so dell offer me to extend it.

i dont think that the warranty extension price is same for every customer.....  whistling.gif  whistling.gif

It is a offer that dell email to me. Did you receive the mail? I think some got some don't. sweat.gif

QUOTE(steventan85 @ Oct 29 2006, 03:46 PM)
erm....IMO , should get a core2duo for ur laptop to survive for another few yrs....since coreduo going to obsolete in another yrs
*
It depends on the user. I don't think core duo will obsolete so fast. 64bit still not popular yet. And most of the company won't simply change their pc.

IMO, core duo can still survive for at least 2 years.

QUOTE(moto-moto @ Oct 29 2006, 04:17 PM)
u mean only ching4ever can get this offer?
*
If you receive the email from dell, I think you will get this offer. Else, you may need to email/call dell to ask whether you can get this offer or not.

QUOTE(PaiNai @ Oct 29 2006, 04:23 PM)
i think wat he meant is it depends on wat deal a SA can give u...it might be they are authorized to give u a better deal if u pester them long enough tongue.gif or maybe he is valued customer cause been using dell items?

No. It is my first time to buy dell items. tongue.gif

QUOTE(Advanz @ Oct 31 2006, 08:59 PM)
but...i made my payment by using the 12mth 0% installment Credit Card option...would this take longer or how? I've ordered yesterday night and still, Dell's ppl haven't contact me...they have just sent me an e-mail and an attachment of a quotation..
*
No, credit card payment is faster than you used other types of payment. I already use the 12mth 0% installment payment.

That time I ordered mine, dell send email to me the next day, replied and confirm the order. After confirmed not long time, bank called and ask for payment approve, approve it and done the payment already. Then Thursday called for the delivery but no one pick up the phone call, called to my dad handphone, confirm the delivery at Friday.

How come im not in the list 1? biggrin.gif

Anyway, this is my specs:
-512mb DDR SDRAM
-60GB SATA HARD DRIVE
-15.4" Wide Screen XGA TFT Display
-Duo processor
-8x dvd+/- RW combo drive
-No bag, mouse

Searching for a bag for my laptop... Any recommandation? budget better lo! icon_idea.gif
*
Why didn't upgrade the RAM to 1GB. 512MB really not enough one..

Try look for polo backpack. Friend told me it is very cheap, below RM60 only.

i bought it around 7 months ago. when ching4ever bought it? did any of u guys upgrade the CC wif de price ching4ever got?

means the price is not tetap 1 r? can call dell SA & bargain?haha..  tongue.gif
*
I bought it at May 2006. Around 5 months ago.

So far, not many people receive the email from dell. Wonder it is just some offer that dell give to some buyer only or it is open for public. Try call dell SA and said your friend got the offer, ask them whether you can get the same offer or not.

QUOTE(shean @ Nov 1 2006, 02:11 AM)
Really... hmm, kinda regret didnt upgrade it! cry.gif Can i upgrade it future on?
I prefer those bag wit handle bar and sliding strap 1 worr! Any recommendation?
Erm, dell called the next day after i did my order! They asked me whether i wanna extend my warranty to 3 yrs anot too... They said got promotion and i still remember is only RM3++ only! Regret nvr extend it TOO! cry.gif
*
Sure you can upgrade it later. Just buy another stick of RAM and put it inside. If you don't know how to add, look the manual, it is just like 123 steps only. If you going to upgrade it, make sure you get the 667Mhz RAM. I'm going to upgrade the RAM to 2x1GB 667Mhz, now waiting the price to drop only tongue.gif

Try look the laptop backpack thread. Inside there are many different backpack photo and price.

The promotion they offer to you is 3 years complete cover or 3 years limited warranty? If it is complete cover, it is a waste that you didn't upgrade it. But if you always chase new technology, not prepare to use the laptop for more than 1 year, no point upgrade it tongue.gif
