Hello guys, I decided to open this thread as I have not found any thread regarding the discussion of the Xiaoyi Sports Camera.
I've just got mine and these are my first impressions: Price - Well, as I stay/live/work in China, I got mine at RMB600 for the entire travel package. That's about RM360. Outlook - Out of the box, the device is incredibly small. - It looks like a toy. - It is extremely light. - Handling it is a little tedious as it is so small. - Though made of plastic, build quality is decent. Picture Quality - I find it pretty OK but as I'm no photographer, I will comment no further. - I'll upload some samples here for you to judge. - Personally, I find it a joy to shoot with as the angle allows you to take some rather creative shots. Connectivity - I faced a couple of issues with connectivity with the Xiaoyi camera app on my Redmi Note - Sometimes it just fails to connect. The remedy is to just keep reconnecting. Eventually, it will connect. Others - Taking and saving a shot takes about 3-4 seconds for me. I'm using a Class 6 8GB MicroSD card. - App interface is sluggish, very laggy at times. - Battery life is decent. - The device heats up after quite some usage. It gets HOT! Selfie Stick - It's OK I guess. I've not purchased any selfie stick prior to this so I can't make a comparison. - At times, it may feel a little bit flimsy. It certainly doesn't inspire confidence at times. - Build quality wise, I'd give an OK to that too. Nothing spectacular yet not entirely rubbish as well. That's all I can say for now. I'll post more stuff as I go along. =========== SAMPLE PHOTO ===========  Taken in broad daylight on a cloudy day. Picture is NON-EDITED. === TIP: === - To protect your camera lens, I'd suggest you buy a camera lens cover that should cost you less than RM10 like mine below. Android Official Xiaoyi Sports Camera App
Finding this app in Android devices is downright simple. Just search for Xiaoyi Sports Camera and you will find the app to download. The official Android app is available in both Chinese and English iOS Official Xiaoyi Sports Camera App The official app for iOS has just been released on the 23rd of April. You can find it in the App Store by keying in Xiaoyi at the search function. You will find an app that's called 小蚁运动相机 by 360 Ants. Note that the app is currently ONLY available in Chinese. Other Compatible App for iOS (English) iOS users can also download the app "LinkinEyes" to use with the XiaoYi Camera if you can't live with the official Chinese app. It may not be perfect with a couple of bugs present but that will do. It states waterproof up to 40m, does this mean the cam itself is waterproof or does it still need a housing? If so, when would the housing be available or can the current GoPro/SJ4000 ones be used?

any class 4 card is enough for video. usually now it's all class 6
you only require very very high speed if you shoot burst/continuous raw shots in digital cameras. |

Just got my Yi camera yesterday! It was awesome! Will post some picture later.
Ts where u get the lens cap? AM still waiting the waterproof casing. Too bad they didnt desing exactly same like Go Pro if not can use Go Pro casing. |

gotta wait til wednesday only i can post those picture and videos taken from my cam.

This camera overall is OK, picture video quality is on Par with go pro but the software is worst. By the way when i want to transfer through USB connection it hangs?

It's very excited to have my Xiaomi yi camera today
As I gopro hero 3+ user, this yi camera has done fantastic job. First thing trying to open the batter cover but very hard to open compare to gopro The wifi button response faster than gopro as compared. Bcos yi just light press and gopro need 2 sec. Although yi camera don't have the small LED screen to indicate battery percentage but it still can tell by the color of the LED ring. But the con is difficult to tell when u want to switching mode  however, there are 3 indicators from top, bottom and side will light on with red color which telling it's on video mode now. The battery left 25% the moment I unbox, manage to play like 20 mins with photo and video testing. So can't really test how lasting is it. In term off app, Just downloaded the app and manage to play a while. The app quite similar to gopro app. The photo and video can preview from app. But I find out there is no delete function for video. Don know why maybe u guys can tell. Alright time to sleep, will continue explore more tomorrow.  |

been using this cam over the weekend after they launch the iOS last Friday, after updating the firmware, the camera worked flawlessly with my iphone anyways, i have placed an order for uv lense filter (to protect the camera lense), a pouch and a selfie stick.. cant wait to received these items thought of placing the order for the waterproof case but prices are still quite high.. will wait for another 3-4 weeks for the price to cool down.. |

Just received my camera today. How do you charge the camera? Do you just plug it into USB port of a computer / laptop? Should the led ring on the on/off button light on when you charge? I charged it for like 10 minutes and the whole camera is a bit warm.

if it's charging then the LED indicator around the power button will be red, and when it's done charging it'll turn off itself. then you can unplug it

anyone having problems with using xiaoyi for selfie? hmm..i think they shud really do something that shows users when the photo is taken..the beep sound is too soft if you're in a really crowded area haha tried taking photos with my group of friends and 5 out 10 photos sure got one or two move away adi coz they tot the photo is taken but infact its not haha and one more thing is there any setting that allows the camera to capture photo quicker? haha..im thinking to switch off the "auto low light" mode and try it |

From what i observe, Yi camera has constant 1/30s shutter speed. The shutter sound should be constant regardless lighting condition. I assume it is the image processing take time instead of shutter.

Here are some of tests on the 3rd party housing
Test 1: I put some old newspapers into the housing.(try to simulate it like the camera, if paper get wet which mean housing got water leak). After that, i rinse the housing from different angle with tap water. Meanwhile, try to press each button to check whether could leak or not. the test result is showing newspaper inside still dry. Test 2: The second test is to simulate whether the housing could use for diving activities. Same way apply to test 1. But this round soak the housing into a bucket of water. (Put something heavy on top of it to prevent it floating up). Leave it overnight till next morning. The result same as test 1. Ps. Still not yet using actual camera to do test. |

Found out people posting solutions online, but by opening the camera and doing a bit of modification on the hardware... i resorted to just buying additional battery and external charger from forummer kopipeng.On th other hand, u can always remove the battery when not using. And I think no one has sharing the video for low light especially captured video during nite time. So here I share one of my clip captured during viper night challenge this video recorded using 720p 48 (need to click the setting to 720 else it will default to SD base on your connection). IMO, kingma OEM case quite rugged and solid! the case quite thick and wont bend and most important no vignette at corner when taking picture haven get under water yet

New kaki reporting in! Gotten my unit 2 months back from Kopi Peng but due didn't have the case so I keep it in my cupboard. Btw, I ordered this case from TaoBao last week, should be arrive this week or latest next. I will do quick review once hands on. Heyo! Just hands on my telesin case, guess what?
For $59 rmb price, I'd say its pretty good one! Case are quite tight, can hear the "pop" sounds when I tried to open it. Quite sturdy just that its finishing aren't that smooth only. Overall I'd give 4/5. Still at work, upload photo in a while. |

Any update on the bluetooth remote
