The only one i know off is aftershock brand having back to school promo.

Your choices seems good. Some advice

Asus after sale service isnt the best while Illegear has a good after sale service.

So far Illegear is not charging GST until June (Give or take). smile.gif

Feel free to ask any questions.

Hi Guys,
1. Preferred brand - Any with good support service
2. Budget - 4k
3. Basic usage - gaming (cod),heavy web browsing,entertainment
4. Screen size - 14-16

hey zerosprit,

Gonna be tough for you to get a gaming notebook at 4k to run COD. Best if you shop around for older models with 860M or 870M GPU (if lucky) and look for bargains. Otherwise, check around for the entry level models with the latest 900M series Nvidia GPU.

Example include MSI GE60 2QD Apache with Intel i7-4720HQ CPU and Nvidia GTX 950M GPU at RM4,199 for 15.6" FHD IPS panel. There's the usual specs like 1TB HDD and 4GB DDR3 RAM.

Notebookcheck.net did show that the 950M GPU can run COD:AW at 41FPS on High Settings. So maybe this model is suitable for you.

does it even have windows to begin with? hahaha. for dell since they give the oem windows disc will we be able to reinstall the windows into our own ssd?

Bro, i think you should check with MSI on this. Brightstar might not know what option have since they are only reseller.

You can post your questions on MSI Facebook and see their reply. Pretty good and always replies my kepoh queries about new models. Hehehe

As for 4K display you might need to add extra, when you customise the laptop (Illegear) as for Asus it is FullHD if i'm not mistaken.

Ok, so for 4K display.

If and only if you are planing to play ultra settings with 4K display for high demanding games (GTA, watchdogs and etc), you might get low or moderate FPS (Assuming 970m and above).

But for all those RTS (starcraft and the like), you are able to play it fine so as DOTA and etc.

This reminds me of the OLD time modification done by one of the forumer. He also done similar stuff like this, but need to use custom BIOS.

IMO, if you game solely on high demanding game and you're those which max almost all settings in games, I don't recommend 4k display. If not it is an option, but if the price different is too much, I will go for FHD.

Yea. But IIRC there is also one thread in this forum teaching people to mod their laptop to use different gpu. Not sure is PC gpu or mobile gpu.
But it is also doing similar stuff I think, damn chio.

For ncx, does he use custom BIOS ? Too technical for me liao.. hahaha
