Hello guys I'm trying to buy a good gaming laptop to replace my old Alienware M15x model from 2010 - hopefully, cheaper than an AW this time though.

1. Preferred Brand
I don't have a particular preference for a brand. I don't like Acer though.

2. Budget
RM5500.

3. Usage
I'll mainly be playing MOBAs like League of Legends but I also like to play other more intensive games such as the Assassin's Creed series. I'd like a good gaming laptop as I plan to hopefully, use the laptop for 4 years or so. Therefore, I'd like it to be future proof and can handle games that come out in the future as well.

4. Preferred laptop/screen size
15" please.

Preferred specs:
At least 960m, preferably 965m or better although I understand that any higher will most likely not fit into my budget.
4th gen i7 - 5th gen would be preferred.
8GB RAM.
SSD is not a must.
A good 1080p display is all I need in terms of display - don't need 4k displays.

The laptop should also have good cooling - preferably dual vents and dual fans.

Since I'm an international student who would likely be moving after finishing my degree, I'd like the brand to have good support service/accessible service centers. I have considered Illegear but I don't know whether Gigabyte/Sager service centers abroad will accept Illegear notebooks.

Other notebooks I have considered include the MSI GE62 2QE and the Asus G551JW.

Please feel free to recommend any and all gaming laptops that fit these requirements. Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you

Latest 7447 is gtx 850m , Just can't decide which. But like you mentioned in earlier post, a lot people buy asus, so sure got complains bad after sales service. The acer i used when i bought was 4 years ago, no probs at all. but that time people complain acer after sales service really bad as well.

I'll concur that Acer has been improving steadily over the years. But IMHO, most of the distrust of the brand stems from their poor products from over a decade ago. My first computer was an Acer desktop purchased about 15 years ago and it was a continuous fountain of grief. Still, as you said, the durability of consumer electronics has as much to do with blind luck as with quality components. Though the better the latter, the less the former becomes a factor.

My job basically heavy in CPU and Harddisk IO. I'm looking for alternative and open to other options. It is either to buy XPS from Malaysia or direct import from US (as it can be 1K cheaper).

Are there any MSI laptops that could compete with it? I'm assuming Asus is out because of their poor service quality?

Both Dell 7447 and ROG GL552 have their own flaws. No idea which is more severe, any advice? OR any other laptop recommendation around the same price?

most likely would be picking up the second ones, since it has FHD 14inch screen and at the same time provide windows 8.1 (although i actually have my own windows 7, which i personally prefer compared to windows 8.1 )
