Thank you pandera! smile.gif I was struggling between model UX305FA-FC199H and UX305FA-200H, it seem like the only difference between them is the processor and wifi (dual band), could u advise me?haha
*
200H is much better in terms of processor. M-5Y71 > M-5Y10 but the price also different. so for your budget. 199H is within your budget

wifi, im not so sure since the only option stated is Dual-band 802.11a/b/g/n/ac.. but ac is the latest wifi technology for time being.

Im planning to buy a laptop that can handle medium-heavy gaming for college and normal internet surfing

Preferred Brand- Popular brands (Hp,Dell,Asus,Msi,etc.)
Budget-Rm4000 (can increase abit)
Usage-College, Medium-heavy gaming, general surfing (movies, music, etc.)
Preferred laptop/screen size-<15inch

Thanks biggrin.gif
*
increase rm300.. u can get illegear z5.. much reliable, worth to spend than those listed popular brands.
but FreeDos, if have friend can install OS for you, easy... else.. it will cost around 4.3k nod.gif

else, can get Asus G series. or MSI GE62/72 (but way to expensive)

Preferred Brand- MSI

Budget-Rm3500

Usage-College, Dota 2 Full Settings >60fps , general surfing (movies, music, etc.)

Preferred laptop/screen size- 14/15 inch

you only can get GTX950M 2GB D3 with that price in MSI series

MSI GP60 2QF-848MY (Leopard Pro) 15.6” FHD A.G , i7-4720HQ , 4GB , 1TB , GTX950M 2GB D3 , W8.1 : RM3499

Lenovo Y50-70 15.6” FHD , i7-4720HQ , 12GB , 1TB + 8GB SSHD , GTX960M 2GB , W8.1 , RM3599

in terms of graphic card, Lenovo > msi.

thanks for the suggestions, but Im not a big fan of Z5's design. Is there a laptop without the num.pad that fits my requirements, I don't use the number pad at all and I've gotten used to a tenkeyless keyboard. Thanks  biggrin.gif
*
then you prefer 14"? hmm.gif but heat management is much better in 15" + illegear have good product reliability.. gaming produce heat a lot... and play a lot latest game gtx960m gddr5 have advantage here.

unless you wan consider Asus G551JW and lenovo y50 apart from Illegear. 14" only have gtx950m ddr3.. just for mid-end gaming.

unless you wanna spend up to 7k to get Alienware 14" sweat.gif

I am thinking of getting this one:
Acer VN7-591G-73A2
Specs

Windows 8.1 Single Language
Intel Core i7-4710HQ Quad-core 2.50 GHz
39.6 cm (15.6") Full HD (1920 x 1080) 16:9 IPS
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M with 2 GB Dedicated Memory
12 GB, DDR3L SDRAM
1 TB HDD + 8 GB SSD

Price: RM3399

You have any comments about this ?
*
its better you get Aspire V Nitro VN7-591G-78SG new version with gtx960m. the 1 with gtx860 hv heat issue. source from acer forum.

lots of improvement being made.
with ips display.. the screen much brighter, and clearer.. 1tb hdd supported with 8gb ssd cache will helps speed up read/write of the hard disk.

1. Preferred Brand: Lenovo and any others , except MSI
2. Budget: Rm2.5k
3. Usage: Assignment, University Work, Gaming (mostly just dota2)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: any
Ask for my friend, because im already out-of-date  sweat.gif
*
try check this
Dell Inspiron 7447 14” , i5-4210 , 4GB , 500GB , GTX850M 4GB , W8.1 : RM2599

without free gift and nego.. price sure cheaper than listed.

i5 is sufficient enuf... unless you go rendering 3D then i7 will be much usefull.. as for gaming.. gpu is very important. and dota 2.. gtx850m can handle it very well.. max fps.

lenovo have many series of amd apu's.. just i think for at time being, nvdia is much better than amd..

1. Preferred Brand: any
2. Budget: RM4,000
3. Usage: work, photoshop, slim & lightweight, premium feel & look
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: any (thinking of acer S7)

Aspire S7-393-55208G12 13.3” FHD IPS , i5-5200U , 8GB , 128GB SSD , Intel HD , W8.1 : RM3999

yeah.. pretty good.. its premium ultra notebook actually. but. with i5.. do your photoshop is heavy? with ips display, its helps you for color accuracy.

another alternative is
Dell Inspiron 7348T FHD Ultrabook 13.3” FHD IPS Touch , i5-5200U , 8GB , 500GB + 8GB Cache , Intel HD , W8.1 : RM3021/-

And I just found out info about Dell 7447 in the latest Dell brochure. All 3 models have a card GTX 850M 4GB DDR3 only  sad.gif  So maybe my final choice is Lenovo Y50-70: 15.6” FHD , i7-4720HQ , 12GB , 1TB + 8GB SSHD , GTX960M 2GB , W8.1 , RM3599
*
there is seller in garage sales sell quite decent price for that acer
Aspire V Nitro VN7-591G-78SG 15.6 IPS FHD , i7-4720HQ , 8GB , 1TB+8GB , GTX960 2GB , W8.1 : RM3699
try ask nego and buy w/o free gift.. sure within your budget..

QUOTE(Oakha @ Jul 15 2015, 06:00 PM)
Hi guys,

I need some recommendations on buying new laptop. I'm using it for work purpose (programming and rendering). No game.

Budget between 3.5K to 4.5K.

Here are the requirements

1) An ultrabook/ thin/ light/ notebook. So that it is light and easy to carry around.
2) A powerful CPU like i5 or i7. Core M is NO.
3) 8GB RAM, if can self upgrade I can do that.
4) MUST SSD.
5) 13.3" is enough. I got external monitor to get my work done.
6) HD like Retina
7) No need Graphics Card. No need CD Room.
8) No preference in brand, but not MacBook.
*
6) HD like Retina
so i refer this as IPS display...

Dell XPS 13 13.3” FHD Touch , i5-5200U , 4GB , 128GB SSD , W8.1 : RM3699
Aspire S7-393-55208G12 13.3” FHD IPS , i5-5200U , 8GB , 128GB SSD ,Intel HD , W8.1 : RM3999

pls do research and think about it... for 3D rendering, is it heavy? hmm.gif if you have other choice in mind and want to share oppinion, welcoming for your oppinion too nod.gif

HP omen is 15".. lol.. and its not that worth to spend money for it.. as other notebook have better specs than omen... still if 4.8k.. illegear will coverup everything. better heat management as well.
