Jokes aside. Latitude or thinkpad series has the quality that you need but not the GPU as it is business oriented or the newly launch MSI Prestige or Illegear Q series but budget wise is more la.

I use Dell at home and in office. My experience with it has not been good.
My own unit has a few keys which are not sensitive; the office unit has an over-sensitive touch pad.

But the good thing about Dell is: if you buy online, you can customize the specs.
*
y u dint claim warranty? change keyboard la.. onsite n foc wat.. over-senstive touch pad oso can change... now they offer extend warranty de.. can call in n ask

Hi guys. I'm trying to help my wife's friend who is planning to buy a laptop for her studies.

1. Preferred Brand: Any, although Dell or HP is preferred.
2. Budget: RM2.5k to RM3.5k
3. Usage: multimedia, research simulations
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 13-14". Then would be best if the laptop is light. Maybe <2kg ? Then battery life >6 hours of usage.

Thanks guys!

For ur budget... vostro 5480, Inspiron 5448, 4th gen Xps 13

Isn't 8% huge difference in the long run? doesn't it run cooler since it has a new architecture? just wondering  unsure.gif

I have read some threads in other forum saying that after a few months, they experience some major lagging issues and USB hubs not working etc. and I read reviews on the UK Asus side, there were more than 50% negative reviews  sad.gif

Thank you for the links!!  biggrin.gif

I thought OC laptop GPU are not recommended since the power delivery on the Mobo are not designed for OC-ing and the power supply does not have a lot of headroom to OC?

I run my C code on linux sometimes 24/7 to simulate for my FEA so good cooling would be a plus since it pushes my CPU/ GPU to 100% at all 4 cores 8 threads. Gaming would be fine because it does not push it to the extreme conditions that I am about subject it to.

That I know of, but I just reading this thread http://www.notebookcheck.net/Asus-G751JY-T...w.133178.0.html
By seeing all those negative comment, it scares the hell out of me to purchase it, so yeahhhhh  sad.gif

TBH i know nothing bout it n dun bother reading coz taiwan brand got QC issue for the newer models now... my recently just met my uncle in taiwan.. he bought n new unit n blackout on day 1(he bought 5 units).. mobo short circuit spoil .. lucky only his 1 major issue.. other hv minor like touchpad issue...

i think they rush the production..

Does anyone know about this model:

http://www.techhypermart.com/notebooks/asu...x950m-w8-1.html

I think the price is quite good, GTX 950m, lighter also thin, just 21mm.
