Thanks for the heads up. Just checked that Zenbook ram is soldered and cannot be upgraded.

Do note some ultrabook/slim laptop is soldered on RAM, so be cautious when purchasing the said ultrabook/slim laptop.

Main usage is to run high demand simulation software, i.e. mathematical simulation software MATLAB. Those of you in engineering field may encounter this software before. My current laptop becomes unresponsive when running heavy simulations cause the simulations take up all the computer resources. I believe the 4GB RAM of my existing laptop is insufficient, so I guess I'm looking for one with minimum 8 GB RAM. Better processor will also make simulation faster I believe?

I'm no expert at this, do correct me if I'm wrong.

Not smaller than my current one which I think is 14 inches.

yeah.. see certain model.. then visit the shop..and test how heavy it is...  like 15".. its not heavy.. but cz of its wider size sometimes give you troublesome too..    sometimes 14" also quite heavy..

dell may be more power, but harder to access components, and useless 1366x768 screen unless you pay like 3.5K

Is it more worth it to get a i7 core ? Because processor cannot be upgraded later on ...

yeah. from online and all, you can see that the whole back panel of the lenovo you can remove in one shot while the dell must do all sorts of crazy stuff. also, i can find the FHD y40 with DOS for 2370, while cheapest dell FHD is 2.7. very easy choice no? 

now, hope the price stays the same and got stock when i come back to malaysia in august...
