I'm leaning towards the Dell Inspiron 7447 atm but I can't find much information about it on the internet blink.gif It's weird, usually there are tons of reviews about laptops so it's making me doubting it.
*
Hmm, it might not sell well to warrant reviews or too low profile blink.gif . But from the link i provided, it does show that it has sufficient cooling.

As for Dell, it has one of the best after sale service so i wont worry much about it if any problem arise. All in all it is price quite nicely for the spec.

Hello guys I did some research and now I don't know whether I should buy the Acer Aspire VN7-591G-744NK or Lenovo Y50 ? Can you guys help me choose?

1. Brand : Any

2. Budget : 3-4 k (I dont mind stretching in another 400-500 if theres another choice)

3. Usage : I would like to play The Sims 4 on my laptop and maybe some occasional GTA5, as I can only play GTA 5 during my semester break. I would also like to use my laptop for studies and lots of movies.

4. Screen size : I don't mind the weight but it must be thin and the screen is either 14" or 15"

Is my budget possible for my needs??
*
Can get a good 960m/860m GPU card but not thin profile (Dont know how thin is your thin, if you get what i mean).

MSI Prestige PE60

Illegear Z5/Q5

Acer nitro and Lenovo Y50 (As you have mention).

oh wow, I've loooked at the MSI PE60 and I'm kind of interested, is it on sale yet in Malaysia? Because I can't seem to find it on Lelong or Lazada.
*
What I heard was it is coming to Malaysia by next week from lowyat news. It is a new model but looks kinda like GE62 remodel. Hopefully the cooling is as good as GE62.

If it doesn't sell well, doesn't it mean that it's not good? sweat.gif
What if Lenovo Y40 vs Inspiron 7447? Their pros and cons? Y50..is not suited for my budget right? What is its market price?
*
Spec wise is good. I just simply make things up lol for the not selling well thing-y.

Inspiron win hands down buddy spec wise. As for pros and con i think i did say somewhere on one of the post.

As for Lenovo Y50 market price is around RM3200~3400 for the 860m if the stock is still there as it is old model while the 960m is RM3500~3700.

Do note that the lenovo screen is quite bad as a lot of user complaint about it.

In the end choose the one your prefer. Also do make some time to check the laptop in person to aid in making the choice.

Not sure if dell has international warranty (will be in uk).

I checked hp omen, looks quite nice. Does it come with international   warranty? And whats the specs like ?

I also check the inspiron series, still unsure abt the quality and warranty. I saw the 17" one.
*
Spec is:- HP Omen
Screen : 15.6” Touch
CPU : i7-4710HQ
RAM : 8GB
SSD : 128GB/512GB SSD
GPU : GTX860M 2GB
OS : W8.1
Weight : 2.12KG

NOTE : The ports are at the back of the laptop.

Warranty wise. From the link.
HP warranty is global meaning you can bring your laptop purchased from country A to B and country B will service it for you provided the model is sold in that country but are subjected to country B servicing.

But please call HP to clarify.

Yup if you are able to persuade them to service your laptop that is.

Does that mean that they do not provide laptop service? Or the service they give very limited?
*
They provide laptop services but most of the time they will dismiss the problem. So prepare your guns to "shoot" when the Asus laptop has problem.

Good luck when you buy your Asus laptop. Hopefully get a good unit.

Hi, from browsing here, many seems to recommend dell 7447, planning to get my bro a new laptop. He only plays dota2 alot all the time. Must last him at least 5yrs. Budget not much 3k max. But from what i source from Dell website y the price more pricy than some people say here?
*
Like what myway said.
For a laptop to last that long, your brother must know the basic in taking care of his laptop.

Most is reseller that is why lower price than dell website.

Hey there sifus! I am planning to purchase a laptop during this summer break (June - August) but not sure when. I am bringing this laptop to the UK so warranty is an issue for me.

1. Brand : Any as long as it is has reliable warranty service

2. Budget : around RM4000

3. Usage : AAA title games that are coming out and other that had came out. PLC programming, C programming and Python programming. Finite element analysis and SolidWorks. Some lightroom and photoshop photo editing. Watching movies, youtube videos and listening to music.

4. Screen size : 15 inch would be perfect. Don't need 4k display, just need a good IPS panel.

5. Weight : I am concerned about weight since I need to bring this laptop around in the UK, so around 2.5kg would be nice.

6. Thermal Performance : Say No to thermal throttle!!

7. Hardware preference : SSD FTW! ~240GB would be just enough

P.S : If there is a laptop with gtx 970m with good thermal and not at a very high price (~RM5000), I don't mind spending more money on it.

Err, Illegear is out of the question.

MSI PE60

Asus ROG series.

HP Omen.

As for international warranty. Best is to call the customer service of the respective brand to be sure.

Was looking at Illegear, tempted to purchase the Z5, but warranty is a huge issue  cry.gif

I currently own a Asus Laptop, the warranty service in Malaysia is ridiculous but are their products currently reliable?

Omen looks amazing, but it has a quite high price tag doesn't it?
*
HP Omen has quite the hefty price tag but bear in mind that it comes with SSD right off the factory and also HP market it to the top of the range product but price has since lowered and based on their link about international warranty. They call it global warranty. It basically states that if you buy laptop from country A and move to country B and country B do sell the model of the laptop then the warranty is valid but the servicing is based on country B standard.

Asus warranty is bad only in Malaysia as far as i know but oversea the service is one of the best (go figure) not sure about UK though. Check around some UK forum about Asus i suppose.
As for Asus i only recommend the ROG G7XX series as the ROG G5XX series has heating issue but then again the temp in UK is around 23-25 Celsius so might be ok in UK (I think).

Next would be the MSI Prestige series. Price is quite competitive for the hardware it comes with but warranty not so sure.

Hey guys! Any recommendation?

1. Preferred Brand: Any, I am open to Alienwares too!
2. Budget: Less than RM7k (it doesnt mean it has to be 7k, anything less even around 5k which you'd suggest is the best value/money combo is great)
3. Usage: Gaming, heavy multitasking - includes illustration but not rendering.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: Preferably 15. 13 is bit small and 17 is just too big.

Pretty concerned with the laptop's build quality too, the more solid/sturdy the better.
4k display is a big bonus btw.

Thanks!
*
MSI GE62/PE60

Illegear (Z,Q,D,S) << Can customise the screen to fit 4k display

Alienware 15

Gigabyte

Does the HP Omen come with the gtx 960m in Malaysia? Want to have the latest GPU since I am going to own it for a long time (~4 years).

The ROG G751JT seems like a very good buy with gtx 970m at around RM5.5K but it is quite heavy thou, is there a forum link for the owner's club here? can't seem to find it  sweat.gif

Cannot find much review on the PE60 =( my friends are using MSI laptops and find not much issue with their laptop except that they need to change thermal compound after 1.5 years, so I guess no worries for warranty because their laptop manufacturing are quite high standards.
*
So far HP Omen only has 860m but the performance between 860 and 960 is not that far but by a mere 8%~ increase.

Yea, ROG G7XX series is a desktop replacement so to speak.

PE60 is a new model. So not much review yet but should be close to GE62 since the chassis is similar.

Remember to contact their respective customer service to ask about the international warranty.

Isn't 8% huge difference in the long run? doesn't it run cooler since it has a new architecture? just wondering  unsure.gif

I have read some threads in other forum saying that after a few months, they experience some major lagging issues and USB hubs not working etc. and I read reviews on the UK Asus side, there were more than 50% negative reviews  sad.gif

Thank you for the links!!  biggrin.gif
*
Not really for me 960 just got a slight increase in clock speed compared to 860. Well it is up to you since you are the buyer.

Both 860 and 960 is the same architecture which is Maxwell and yes it runs cooler compared to Kepler.

Then either HP or MSI or UK side clevo bare bone brand.

Good to know that! smile.gif

I should purchase the laptop there?
*
Memory also the same just another 50 megahertz increase on the clock speed something like that.

*
Would not recommend 965 because of the price. If possible straight get 970 if not 960. I dont get the price for that small performance increase (for me is small).
