Next up is the hardware install. Here's the nice new mobo. An Asus M2N-E. Very very nice mobo. I installed the AM2 X2 3800+ into the socket n it's time to put on sum thermal paste. I always use Arctic Cooling MX1. Excellent thermal paste that's soooooooooooo easy to apply.

user posted image

Installed the Thermalright Ultra 120 onto the CPU.

Next thing I did was to install the heatspreaders for the RAM. Always remember to remove that sticker b4 applying it to the RAM boys n girls. U dont wanna end up with burnt RAM. laugh.gif

Voila! Nice shiny bling bling RAM.

More updates 2moro. It's time to go watch Liverfool vs Chelshit. laugh.gif

Dont think that i will get my RAMs burnt even i dont remove those stickers though laugh.gif

Well it all depends on teh usage i guess. If u bumb up the voltages like hell n OC it to the sky, I'm very sure it's not gonna last long with all that heat trapped there.

MX1 is not conductive at all. So all u need to do is put a blob in the middle like I did n just put the HSF on top. U dont hafta worry about it overflowing around the socket area n shorting things out. U dont hafta spread teh paste flat like most pastes require. That's y I say it's easy to apply.

Kingston uses plastic stickers so it doesn't get damaged. Anyway, the glue on teh heatspreader is very very weak, just enuf to hold onto the ram. So it's easy to remove later.

Sleeving time! The Enermax Liberty comes with really weird wires though it's modular. The molex n SATA wires r in a really funny arrangement. Odd spacing between plugs n done in a overlapping manner where it's molex-sata-molex-sata-floppy. Makes it extremely difficult for wire management. Also can't b sleeved between the plugs coz the spacing is very odd n tight. So I sleeved it up to the 1st plug only.

user posted image

This wire is 2 in 1. I sleeved to of the molex modular wires into 1 for cleaner wiring inside the rig.

user posted image

The ATX 24 pin being sleeved.

user posted image

I added a molex splitter for the 3 Musketeers at the top. Sleeved the 1-3 splitter too.

Moving on to the install. Now I'll let u guys imagine this scenario. The rig needs to be installed with 5 ROM slot devices, 2 floppy slot devices, n all the HDD slots. Now think about that for a minute n wonder how ur gonna manage teh nightmare of wires. Usually i take only 1 day for wire management. This rig took me 2 days!

The top 3 ROM slots r occupied by the 3 units of Musketeer then 2 units of DVD burner. That's the 5 ROM slots totally filled up. Then the top floppy slot is filled by the Musketeer LED selector switch n the lower floppy slot is taken by a HDD. I had to mod the floppy slot to accept the HDD there coz not enuf HDD slots. The HDD cage oni takes 5 HDD. So, as u can c, the whole front is totally filled up. There's absolutely nowhere to hide the wires inside the ROM or HDD cages. sweat.gif

Partly installed pix. 2 more HDDs to go in there.

user posted image

Everything installed. All slots in front totally filled up. PSU is also installed now. The 2 top HDDs r not wired up coz the owner decided last minute to use 2 new SATA drives which will come in on Saturday. I've installed it in this pix anyway to get a feel for where the extra wires need to go. Wiring will be identical to how I wired the lower 3 HDDs.

That's it for now. Update on the lighting will b up soon.

My hats off to you for hiding all those cables. You're bloody unbelievable haha. Am wondering though if those hard discs get any cooling at all? Is there a fan somewhere in front?

Ya there's a 120mm fan in front cooling the HDDs. I tell u, all ROM slots taken n 6 HDDs is like Nightmare on Elm Street for the builder. If only I had hands like Freddy Krueger I wud haf slashed all those wires to smithereens. laugh.gif

Look real close. Just below the 24 pin ATX n u'll c the Musketeer audio wires. Temp probe can also be hidden just the same but I wasnt given the temp probe. All the audio meters can be made to work with just those wires I've threaded tru the mobo, the rest r just daisy chained off the 1st 1. Just need to add 3 more stereo minijacks to daisy chain them. Basically even if I wire up all 3 sound meters u wont c any wires outside.
