The official one still looks cleaner... but if this one has better engineering, why not?

QUOTE(RegistraCHAN @ Mar 11 2015, 12:27 PM) For The NEXT MP OP Reissues I preordered mine for RM528 on ebay.what r the Estimation For Final Price? izzit Around RM500 or more TRU Please Bring It In and Put highers Price So Nobody Sclaps.. I wanna See And Holds It On Shelf » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Will probably go up to RM600+ on the shelf. Then a few months later, scalpers will try to sell it for RM1k+ Also, I don't see TRU bringing it in, since it's a Takara release. Unless Hasbro does another reissue too. |

QUOTE(Sin7 @ Mar 11 2015, 02:29 PM) what is TRU? For the latest news: tfw2005.com , seibertron.com , and many others.and where did all the sifus here read about all the news on the latest collection? im so lost.. For local releases and preorders: x2otoys.com , and also just follow the FB pages of x2o, 1 Toy, Vhobby & Famitoy. Another fun info chain to follow is the third party FB pages where they post pics of their upcoming models: like X-Transbots, Botron War, MMC, Fanstoys, Badcube, etc. |

QUOTE(fox_shinoda @ Mar 11 2015, 03:29 PM) Wah Rm528 with shipping? That's a good deal, paid mine for Rm560 Shipping was another RM15... so RM543 altogether. Close enough lah to yours I told myself it might be a while before both Hasbro and Takara gonna make a reissue for MP 10, better to spend Rm1090 now for both rather than buying it from scalpers at over Rm1k each I already have the Hasbro one, just getting the Takara one to decide which one I prefer in the flesh... then will probably sell one and keep one! One perk of collecting MP figures is you'll rarely lose TOO much money if you decide to resell! QUOTE Since everyone talking abt Warbotron... how's the quality then? any problems? Warbotron quality is so-so to me. QC is not bad, and the bots LOOK good... but engineering and plastic quality is rather poor compared to the top 3P companies. E.g. one of the worst mistakes they made is in their latest figure, Whirlwind... The tail rotor is too close to the helicopter blades, so you can't spin the blades without hitting the tail This post has been edited by omichael: Mar 11 2015, 05:34 PM |

There are so many trusted toy shops in town, both online and offline.
And when they do sell KO, they are very upfront about it. So there is absolutely nothing to worry about when it comes to accidentally buying KO. Just use common sense and don't buy from unknown sellers. And of course, if a deal seems too good to be true (e.g. Convoy Bape for RM300+), then it usually is. |

QUOTE(alanyuppie @ Mar 13 2015, 05:34 PM) my take: I don't disagree with you.Quality as in plastic/ material used for hinges joints = almost the same Quality as in engineering complexity = 3rd party superior Both will deteriorate (if equally playedd with) the same way. But I think 3rd party will lose out from multiple transformations/play. Imagine transforming a Hasbro toy with 10 moving parts every day for a year. Eventually a few hinges might loosen. Now imagine doing the same to a 30 moving parts 3rd party figure.... 10 hinges might loosen . You might have other subjective criteria on quality though. The way I see it, the plastic quality being almost the same is to be expected, since Hasbro has certain durability standards they must meet as a global toy brand. And since 3P companies have become increasingly aware of how important plastic quality is to adult collectors. The most meaningful differentiating factor in terms of quality is the engineering. Younger kids don't care about engineering. That's why this simplistic official Devy is for them. And personally, I don't transform my 3P figures more than once or twice due to the possible wear and tear you mentioned (plus it must be said that some 3P figs are a pain in the butt to transform). |

QUOTE(alanyuppie @ Mar 13 2015, 05:36 PM) anyway.. dont be deceived by 3rd party's premium pricing though.. they're not using any more superior materials than Hasbro's . and they are not doing QC on the strength of hinges to ensure it lasted twice or 10 times longer than conventional Hasbro's equivalent. I actually don't know anyone who believes 3P uses superior materials. If anything, it's well known that the most consistent plastic quality comes from the official releases. It's also well known that 3P figures are expensive due to economies of scale. And well, because the market is willing to pay their prices. |

QUOTE(hocksoo @ Mar 17 2015, 09:18 AM) I feel you should wait till someone doing video review then only decide to buy or not. Nowadays, those 3rd parties seem like to compete with each other... who know later Fanstoys going to release one as well... Yeah there is usually no benefit in preordering so early anyway. Some sellers in US have an early bird pricing policy for those who PO super early. But I don't recall seeing that anywhere here. Closest would be toys4ever.com which gives you a discount if you pay in FULL upfront. |

QUOTE(Lurker @ Mar 19 2015, 11:38 AM) I am glad after this star saber no more big size MP announced. Taktom is running out of viable MP carbots to release!Only mp10 reissue to look forward to *turns a blind eye at 3rd party* Within the next couple years they'll probably have to start looking into more big figures... or more Decepticons... or just terminating the MP line. I hope they never terminate it, but otherwise I'm looking forward to a new focus. Tracks is nice but all these carbots is getting a bit boring. |

QUOTE(guarayakha @ Mar 19 2015, 01:25 PM) I think they did mentioned in some interviews that they're planning on a new line of MP that features non-earth based vehicles, so MP line is not going anywhere soon. The problem with Cons is that the more interesting ones are all combiners, Shockwave may have licence issues, Reflector is meh. Maybe a Megs 2.0 before moving on to the non-earth designs. Non earth based? As in Cybertronian vehicles? Interesting.Yeah there are definitely less commercially interesting Decepticons... but I'd love to see an official MP Galvatron, Cyclonus, Scourge, Scorponok, Astrotrain, Octane, Blitzwing, Sixshot, etc... |

Wow if it's at all true that Takara can't do a Shockwave based on the G1 design... then Fanstoys Quakewave is a super valuable piece.
Wish they'd just hurry up and reissue it. Even if an official one comes out, I can't imagine it being significantly better than the Fanstoys version. |

Some shops should be getting SS by tomorrow.
Lowest preorder price I saw was RM450. On the shelf should be around RM550 - 600. |

So far it seems like MP Ultra Magnus is the overall better figure compared to MP Star Saber.
SS looks like a faithful visual upgrade to the old toy... but in terms of engineering I wish there were some fun surprises. Even the brainmaster gimmick has been simplified compared to the old one, where the face was spring-loaded into the body. |

QUOTE(guarayakha @ Mar 21 2015, 02:47 PM) The Brainmaster had to be simplified because it is significantly smaller now, at least by 50%. I'd rather have a sturdy simplified Brain than one that's G1 toy accurate but is fragile as a kuih kapek. That's where I feel clever engineering could have come in. A premium update of a classic toy should find a way to improve on the old design, not dumb it down. But don't get me wrong, I'm happy to welcome SS. Bought two pieces myself. It just lacks that WOW factor that Ultra Magnus or MP10 had for me! I'm prepared to swallow my words, though, if MP Victory Leo shows up |

We beat this horse to death a while back in an earlier thread regarding KO vs 3rd party.
My perspective is that as a collector, you vote with your wallet. Voting for KO means you're supporting stagnation of innovation because the characters and moulds are shameless rip-offs. If more people turn to KO, we will see less and less original moulds. We are selfishly killing creativity. Voting for 3rd party means you are still supporting intellectual property theft - but at least you're voting for innovation since 3rd party has their own moulds and are typically a few years ahead of HasTak in terms of engineering. Personally, I can still live with intellectual property theft provided there is some form of meaningful originality to it. But not blatant KOs. So I feel being poor is no excuse to buy KO because you're indirectly screwing over the rest of the fandom with your actions. If you can't afford something, freaking save up for it instead of making flimsy excuses! This post has been edited by omichael: Mar 23 2015, 12:08 PM |
