cheras??umm..not sure is that the same shop my friend told me or not..cause he get his car from his grandfather..before that..is those indon ppl drive like crazy..engine all seldom service wan..

so when my friend get the car, he wanna do some servicing..cause the engine die off very easy..then he ask the workshop..the workshop told him tat he got to overhaul his engine..so he called me..and told me this problem..but from wat i know..as long ur car can start and drive around..shouldn't need to overhaul your engine..

then i bring him to my fren place and fix..around rm200 the car can run like brand new already..just change some electrical parts only..

Hi, I just bought a 1972 beetle. I am thinkin of doing a rage top and some paintwork. Can anyone recommend a good shop in JB to do the work? Maybe some engine overhaul as well. Mine is a 1198cc engine. Thanks

hi tunzworld~
when u say rag top....u mean make it completely a cabriolet?or semi convertible which means cut a square hole on the roof and put leather cover which could be pulled open / close? i guess it should be the latter.

i'm not from JB but as what i can see,High way motors and most of his frequent customers had Rag top or sun roof on their bugs,so i guess that is the shop u should consult.but mind u,the job would be very pricey.1st of all the parts aren't easy to find unless u want to use cheap skate japanese car's parts.i've seen a few with japanese cars top,the fit,but for ppl who loves VW very much they notice it's not ori once they look at it.if you're going for ori VW parts,do not go for mexican/china make.they worn out too fast.

highway motors does engine overhauling too,and ofcaz upgrades of engine.

anyway, can i ask for a pic or two of your bugs?
smile.gif

last but not least, nice to meet u.

hey thanks guys for the information. I found a website in Australia and they can actually shipped the parts over to singapore and hence, for the rag top that i thinking, will not be using those cheap china/japanese parts. Also, the names u mention in JB. Any address, tel that i can call for a quotation. Mine is a 1192cc engine and is thinking of upgrading to a 1600cc engine. Is it advisable? Do i have to change the gearbox or anything else if i want to upgrade. As it might be cheaper as i can ship it from australia
