hi all, i am new to this forum, but not new with the classic. been driving this car since Uni. Now 10 years later, with my second beetle, i am planning to convert my door window to single piece. does anyone out there know any restoration mechanic (around klang valley) who can do a good job? i sent mine to this workshop in telok panglima garang. this guy is clueless and had been experimenting with it.

ming, thanks for the help. had towed my car to o-kow's, located close to TT auto. now working on finishing. single piece window almost complete. another question - has anyone installed drop spindle before? i bought 1 set from lian hor. fit it up - but the problem is the torsion arm and kingpin assembly was rubbing on my 15 x 6.5J japanese sport rim.
thinking of changing it back to original rim, so that i can fit the dropped spindle, but not sure if it would face the same problem again.

it depends on what type u looking for.
Air filter cover is not expensive as there's alot still selling now.
some even modified K&N (or memang got K&N) to fit into the engine.
Alternator, u wan cheap, there's china make.
u wan better, there's mexican make but somewhat expensive.
if i'm not wrong, there's also Brazillian make... price i dono.
Alternator price(the china ones), have seen somewhere in some other forums, need to search search.i think around rm200-300?

Any picture for the engine? what's the engine code?
AS? AD?
if you don't mind maybe u can let me know how much u got it?

i still don't know available or not because the one who told me said that was 1-2 months ago..dont know still got or not.. btw, the price is 2000myr without some components but come along with 1.6 gearbox..

is that true that if u use 1.6 engine with 1.2 or 1.3L gearbox then your pick-up is not that good...and also will the 4th gear be very rough(heavy in cantonese)

my beetle is 1.6 engine matching with 1.3 gearbox. i think alot outside is with this matching.
1.6 with 1.2 i don't think so, can't match la.
well...
1.6 match 1.3, pick up is much more better. but it limits your top speed.
anyway my top speed is 93mph.
Yes, high speed is rougher, because the gear ratio is lower than 1.6 gearbox. and much petrol consuming as well.

2k i think is a good price BUT providing the engine is ok and the code is some famous ones. u know where to look for engine code right?
