I'm now studying Master in Electronics, graduating Sept this year. I'm interested in  joining O&G industry. I was thinking to apply for Baker Hughes previously because I was working there part time for three months in payroll department. However, with the amount of people they are rifting, I don't think there will be a chance. I would like to know what are the chances of getting a job in O&G without experience.

Recently my sister got terminated from Baker, I heard theyre downsizing the team. But yeah no harm trying though smile.gif

Rezeki ada dimana-mana. Belum cuba belum tau. Just sharing with you, good luck bro nod.gif

That reminded me on how to deal with different groups of people in the O&G:

(1) With PSC partner (PCSB) and MPM = need to be diplomatic but firm (sometimes those fellas ask for the skies, optimise, optimise development sampai pusing kepala. now with the low crude price environment, it is getting more intense)
I know that PSC is Production Sharing Contractor, but what about MPM?

Google search on MPM did not yield relevant results.

Thanks for the information. smile.gif

MPM is the new name of PMU.

MPM - Malaysia Petroleum Management

PMU - Petroleum Management Unit.

Since Malaysia doesn't have Oil Minister like what OPEC did, and as stipulated by Petroleum Devt Act 1974, the Cabinet and Govt of Malaysia has entrusted PETRONAS to be the custodian of hydrocarbon resources in Malaysia, onshore or offshore, to maximize the benefit of hydrocarbon return to the peoples of Malaysia.

Sumber hydrocarbon ini adalah milik rakyat Malaysia, dan bukan kerajaan yang memerintah. Meaning to say although kerajaan (mungkin) bertukar tangan, sumber hydrocarbon ini tetap milik penuh rakyat Malaysia.

Oh please jangan Sedition Act saya. Please read PDA 1974 thoroughly.

Yang penting, 5% royalty to the peoples of Terengganu, Sarawak dan Sabah masih tak cukup. Lulz. Nak tambah lagi.

Sebab itu apabila Tan Sri Hassan Merican dan Tan Sri Shamsul Abas menekankan sumber hydrocarbon Malaysia merupakan satu amanah DARI rakyat, PETRONAS has its obligation to ensure this sumber berharga dijaga sebaik mungkin untuk generasi yang akan datang. Remember hydrocarbon is a finite resources, it wont last forever.

One of my close friend is working at the company. Mainly involve in control system field such as programming and etc. Carry Allen Bradley brand of PLC. Sub vendor to Sedia Teguh. Most of their applications related to FGS and ESD, downstream and upstream.

Benefits and salary not really sure, but I can say most likely comparable to most similar competitor companies. If project engineer as my friend, travels a lot to do site visits, tnc and etc. stable? even bigger company also cannot really say they are stable at this kinda market atm.

Sedia Teguh big boss, Mahzon Ali is my BFF lulz he help me a lot during my tenure with PPTSB last time. He supplied a carbon raschig ring to our oil refinery, and Sedia Teguh relationship with Kelvin Ltd are very strong.

I strongly recommend Sedia Teguh to be consider as a place of employment for fresh grad. They are good and reliable O&G vendor.

I personally blame Saudi Arabia and private fracking oil producer at USA, and also over production capacity by Russia too.

Currently the market is flooded with lotsa source of cheap oil due to overproduction by non OPEC members. It will takes some time to recover and looks like this downturn will be the worst one.

Embrace for more shitstorm ahead.

You may PM/email me your CV. I can help you to secure jobs in Downstream since you are an experienced grease monkey on Upstream before right? Have you secure a new job lately?

Kita satu Borneo. Boleh bah kau sama kau. Kenapa tak cuba cari kerja with SAMUR Sipitang project? Rekayasa is the main con, Apex Engineering is one of the subcon. You have tons of opportunities at Sabah. You can try Methanol Labuan during plant turnaround & shutdown, or if you have balls why dont just walk in to Talisman & KPOC office at KK? Local Sabahan are given high priority for O&G employment. Too bad I dont have much connection at Sipitang.

Do not give up. There will be a chance for you later if you really serious looking for jobs.

Btw, Awek Sumandak gooding #BroFist #FistBump
