Yesss...  confirmed... however, 2 hours notice with 3 months salary (notice period) if i'm not mistaken..  so employee will have 3 months in advance  to look for a new job...

Those who work for long time will only get 3 months pay? Not a good deal.

One o&g consultant gave its retrenched permanent staff a good bye-bye package, 3 month pay plus 1 month pay for every year served in the company. A friend got half a million ringgit in severance payment (before tax). Cool!

Friend in Bumi Armada wrote on his FB that their HR is "visiting" people and giving "goodbye package". 2 hours notice to pack up stuff and leave. Can anyone confirm?

The O&G job market are so bad right now and the fresh grad keep posting & asking working environment and such. I dunno what to say liao...

O&G market is not a stable source of employment nowadays, even on permanent or contract hire basis.

Aren't those affected by the retrenchment supposed to get MINIMUM 15 Days Salary per year of service (3 years Service or more) / 20 Days Salary per year of service (5 years Service or more) this is stated in Malaysia Labour Law/Industrial Law.
Thats what i was offered when i kena.

Maybe they should go to Malaysia Labour Department for an inquiry?

Buat masa ini, saya menasihatkan abang agar menumpukan kepada pelajaran dan fokus membuat networking di sekitar kampus secara sihat. Dan perlu hentikan prejudis menganjing kepada pelajar2 berasal dari Sarawak dan Sabah because eventually if you want to venture into O&G, Borneo will be a start for you (apart of Terengganu & MTJDA area).

I still hold my revenge to those who mengutuk Sarawak during my undergrads. Seriously I marah.

Built networking tak perlu clubbing bagai. Ada cara halal yang lain.

For now, jangan fikir sangat nak kerja offshore sangat. I suggest you pergi baca previous V1 to V6 O&G thread. Baca jangan tak baca.

I don't have anything against Sarawakians or Sabahans.

But the immigration policy of both states for org2 Malaya and the limitations of org2 Malaya to work in both states always bug me.

It's irony that I didn't need to show my international passport to any border customs when I was criss-crossing the Western Europe, but I need to show my Malaysia IC and fill up "custom forms" whenever I enter Sarawak or Sabah, a state that is part of Malaysia. I am a Malaysian the last time I check my IC. And we still need work permit to work in those "sister" states of ours. Forget about thinking of owning a property over there. hmm.gif

Sometimes one needs to look at the perspective view of org2 Malaya with regard to Sarawak and Sabah, in order to understand how certain prejudices against our eastern brethren came about. Moreover calling us "org Malaya" doesn't help the situation either.

Just something to ponder for the Sarawakians and Sabahans out there.

Side track a bit from the main topic from "org Malaya".

Takde pn tanya working environment? since lepas baca thread ni mcm terlalu tegang utk soalan mcm tu. minta pendapat pn salah lol. kita tahu ekonomi mmg tak stable, tambah currency n price drop minyak. semua org tahu. bkn sy nk kerja semata buat big money pn, just nk lari dr bidang atas sebab byk company tak ambil pekerja. as of now, kerja TF Value Mart pn okey je.

budak2 baru belajar setahun jagung mcm sy ni, mmg tak tahu ape pun. then join thread mcm ni utk tau something, and i did. thanks anyway. benda2 kerja ni takde pendedahan pn dlm uni/kolej/sekolah. maybe ade yg kat sini dh experienced kat industri, join thread ni, so the advantages is there. btw, mohon maaf if this is quite offensive. mcm post sblm ni, no one can win an internet argument right.

...the 1963 Malaysia Agreement recognises the need to protect the special rights of both the peoples of Sarawak and Sabah in respect of employment and economic opportunities from being taken away by West Malaysians.

i have had 2 times with work permit for working in sarawak for 1-2 months each time. you need to question those politicians during the formation.
